Hi! There are some basic ideas that may help. It will be up to you on which one would work best for your dish. Sugar can help counteract spiciness, so that may help. Or you could add more of your liquid ingredients to dilute the spice. Add a little at a time, taste, then go from there. You MIGHT need to add some flavoring to balance things out, depending on how much fluid ingredients you add, so going a little at a time will help avoid much of that. Hi! That's a good question. The answer depends on what you're dealing with....and because of that, there are many variables. If it's a cooked dish, like a stir-fry or soup, simply add more of whatever spice you need to get the flavor you want. If it's a baked item, like a spice cake or quick bread, there's no way to add more spice to the baked item itself. Hi Rowena! I think you have a couple choices on this one. You could add more of the sauce mix minus chili powder...like more tomatoes, beans, meat, and such. And maybe with a little cream I can make some odd ball Spanish rice looking dish that tastes like a smoky BBQ beef Curry. May cool it off and ad some half n half too.
Hi Erik! I have not made pozole, so you'll need to be the final judge on what to add to make it right. You could add a potato or two. The added starch can help to cut the spice. Possibly add a little nut butter to counterbalance the spiciness...a little cashew butter or tahini may help. Or a TAD bit of sweetness, a little sugar may help to counteract the spices. In Thai cuisine, they add a little acid, like vinegar to counteract spiciness. So, there are several options you could try. You'll have to decide which would work best in your dish. Thanks for watching and commenting! I hope this helps :)
I wouldn't want to toss it either! If worse comes to worst, you could peel off the crust. No fun, but that's one way to reduce the spiciness in the fried chicken.

It doesn't burn the tongue that much to be a problem but if you were to swallow the soup your throat would burn to the point you can't breathe, so either you swallow it or through up
@@kxng16 Eek! This is a real problem! Can you remove some of the broth and replace it with more broth and no spices? It sounds like it would take a LOT of adjustment to counter soooo much pepper. Milk is known to tame pepper and spiciness. Removing some of the broth and replacing it with milk may help. A little sweetener may help some.

And maybe with a little cream I can make some odd ball Spanish rice looking dish that tastes like a smoky BBQ beef Curry. May cool it off and ad some half n half too.
WOW! Thanks for watching and sharing the details! I truly hope it works well for you and that you get it right to your liking!

My red pozole came out too spicy, help!!!

I bought some fried chicken and didn't realize it was the spicy version. 😢😢 I don't want to throw it away!
I wouldn't want to toss it either! If worse comes to worst, you could peel off the crust. No fun, but that's one way to reduce the spiciness in the fried chicken.
U can put tomatoes
Thanks for watching and sharing the tip!
hi everyone, i screwed up my dish with so much spicy and i fixed very easy. so i pour one glass of water in my cooking while it is on the flame/stove for only 2-3 minutes and dump the water back in the sink ( i used the strainer) and put back the food on flame for just to heat it and to let the remaining water to evaporate. now it is ready to eat. trust me on this )))
Awesome Kishore! YES...rinsing food is a great way to remove excess spices...IF it's something that can be rinsed. I'm glad this worked for you! Thanks so much for watching and sharing :) Blessings to you and yours :)
Ok so I’m gonna try and will let ya know if it worked for me 😚
Thanks in advance if i forget to tell you afterwards
honey works well too
Yes it would!! Thanks for watching and sharing!
@Pauline Henri Thank you, Pauline! I appreciate that and am glad the video was helpful to you :)
By the way maybe some flour can also help🤔Please let me know if anybody tried that. Thanks!
Hi! Flour could possible help...it would just depend on what the food is or what type of dish you're preparing that is too spicy. Thanks for watching and sharing the tip!
@@JudiintheKitchen Thank you! It was interesting to know what you think about it. I never tried before, it was just random idea. That's true it will really depend on the food. Thanks a lot for the response.
@@sevinj7938 You're welcome, Sevinj. That's what I'm here for :)
My stew is way too spicy hot. I think I'll be adding a bit of molasses and apple cider and see how it turns out. Thank you Judy for your well presented and explained video.
I'm glad the video was helpful to you, Loupy! AND I hope the added sweetness helps to counteract the spiciness in your stew. Thanks for watching and sharing. Best wishes to you and yours :)
Thank you, my cabbage soup is way too hot.
Hopefully some of the tips in the video helped you to calm down the heat in the soup! Thanks for watching :)
👀 I LOOOVE me so spicy cabbage soup.
@@yootoob2 Awesome! Thanks for watching and sharing :)
Aaaaaaand here I was wondering why my instincts were telling me to add ketchup to my spicy noodles, huh.
Great instincts!! I'm glad it worked for you! Thanks for watching and sharing :)

Or coconut milk
Thanks again for watching, and sharing another great tip!
No problem
Hmm.
Thanks 😊
@@SadKaboom Thanks for watching! I hope the tips help :)
My fish soup still spicy 😔
Did you add more of the soup ingredients (including the liquid) EXCEPT more spices? That should fix the problem. Thanks for watching :)
@@JudiintheKitchen I added more pumpkin and dumplings to soak up the pepper but the pepper is too strong
No one better be adding any Nut butter to my food.
Well, it seems like you have the choice of whether or not to add it! Thanks for watching :)
Sorry lot of echoes and the bad sound is ruining the content of your interesting video!
Thank you for sharing that, Pierre. We've been "round and round" over that potential issue with some viewers. I've concluded that it's the device/speakers that are being used for listening to the video. Please share with me how you are listening to the video...headphones? speakers? Are they high-end speakers or low-end desk-type speakers? Ear buds? Through a cell phone? We have learned that the sound quality varies a lot depending on the listening device. Your information will help me a lot on this end. Please share. Thanks in advance :)
@@JudiintheKitchen Hi Judi sorry to have delayed answering, I actually use my laptop and headphones, I watch at least ten videos a day, I think the problem you have with the echoes is due to the distance rather than else, I advise you to place the microphone not too far from you, there are very good microphones on the market which eliminate unwanted parasitic effects, good luck
@@pierredaher9590 Hi Pierre! Thanks for getting back with me on this. You may be right. I now have a lapel mic to try and will use it on my next round of videos. However, I record well in advance, so they won't show up until November sometime. I appreciate your input and especially telling me how you listen to videos. That info is helpful on this end. Take care and blessings to you and yours :)
Ok I seee
Great, Mona! I hope this helps in your kitchen endeavors. Thanks for watching and commenting :)
Uh how do I do this with flaming extra hot Cheetos?
Hi! That's an interesting question! How about making some type of sauce to serve with them...one that is milk-based and certainly NOT spicy. Milk tames heat in the mouth, so a milk-based sauce (or plain cheese type of sauce) will help. Again...one without spice in it. When served together, the flavors should help to balance each other out. I hope this helps!! Thanks for watching and asking :)
i just spilled a bottle of crushed red pepper in some steamed cabbage! man i lightly strained it and it reduced but still more than i could bare. i added a little hunny and it did the trick. WHEW CHILE! food is to high! it was only half of a head thank goodness but ima eat this🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ouch!! What a dilemma!! I'm very proud for you that you made it work despite the heat! Oh my. Guess who's not going to hold the spice bottle over the pot in the future :) Thanks for watching and sharing! Blessings to you and yours :)
Saved my hot and sour soup hahaha
Awesome! Thanks for watching and sharing! I'm glad the video was helpful to you :)
How? what did you do to it? I just bought several of them and they are way too pepper-y.
Does adding potatoes to a stew in progress absorb spice from it?
Hi Jack! It may help, but I can't guarantee it would absorb all the extra spice. It just depends on how much extra spice is in there vs how many potatoes are added. it's certainly worth a try :) Thanks for watching :) Best wishes!
No, they don't
Thank you
You're welcome Malinda! I hope this works well for you. Thanks for watching and commenting :)
