Not sure what you genres you're into but here are some of my favorite artists that have discographies that aren't too lengthy, are diverse in sound, and just overall great music in my opinion: Halsey, mgk, NF, Melanie Martinez, ICE NINE KILLS
I honestly think this is what most Swifties want, just an honest reaction to her music, giving it a chance, taking what you like and leaving the rest. Also for people to have actual criticism and not generalized "her music is just bad" is great. Music will always be subjective and we know that. Not everyone needs to be obsessed and know and love every song. This was a great video!
Exactly I want to hear other people’s genuine thoughts about something I love. If they like it, it’s great, if they don’t it’s great as well. It’s all subjective
Welcome home, also a blink 182 fan of 22 years! You can enjoy good music without shame. ♥️ you accidentally missed about 240 songs but no big. You seem like my kinda person so I’m subbing! Also, your tattoos are excellent! You have really great taste!
She put "marjorie" in the Eras Tour set list and it was confusing at first, but I think it's because the instrumental includes archived audio of Marjorie. This way, she can take her grandmother on tour around the world with her.
Yes! All her grandmothers backlogged dreams and how she left them all to Taylor. Everything of her grandmother would be taken away from her but the desire to one day make it was left for Taylor to receive. It makes me think of the reading of a will and these were here hopes for Taylor so she left her dreams with her. Taylor now brings her grandmother on her world tour. They’ve made it.
I feel that super hard, I have an 18 hour drive in a few weeks and I'm gonna revisit some then to see how I feel. plus the car makes everything sound better
Yes! At first I thought it was so boring, then one day I heard it different (I really listened and understood what she meant), and now it's one of my top TS songs of all time. It's stunning too, it's weird to think my initial reaction was bleh.
Girl don’t worry. Most Swifties just want a good faith consideration of her music. Even the most die hard fans don’t like all her songs for one reason or another. Also down for the tier ranking if u are 😊
I like most, but her cover of last Christmas makes me want to die. And also… I really dislike glitch. The time may come when glitch is my favorite song- who knows. But last Christmas never lol. (It doesn’t work as a country song, I’ve heard other covers that are ok)
100%. Big fan of Taylor. Stay Stay Stay for me is the worst song of all time. I can’t even explain why it irritates me so much, even though other people don’t mind it or even like it. She has so much music and so varied, it’s easy to find things you love and find things you hate in her catalogue
oh YES absolutely, I'm a huge fan and i hate so many of her songs lol she has over 100 songs and started at 14, if she had only bangers i would be surprised
@@ultravioletpisces3666 Glitch was such a sleeper hit for me. I did NOT like it at all on my first or even fifth listen. One day it just clicked and now it's my favorite. You were not kidding lmao
I wish I had the experience of swifties like that. My experience unfortunately has always been the ones that crucify you if you don't worship every song :/ which sucks, cause as someone who's liked a pretty big chunk of her music from her debut to now, I'd like to consider myself part of the fanbase, but so much gatekeeping seems to go on about what makes someone a real fan or not.
"Is a man named Drew really worth it?" He was just a boy back then, and no. But then he became even LESS worth it in 2015 when he, his wife, and his half-brother got arrested for child abuse and neglect.
@@mckennalovescontentAs a 27 year old straight dude who put my girlfriend onto T Swift in 2019, Swift's top 3 albums in no order all 3 are equally near flawless are Fearless,1989 and Folklore, Red is good but super long... Some filler songs.. Reputation is her only bad album she was trying to ride the trap wave instead of making waves New years day is a surprisingly phenomenal song though 🤷🏿♂️🙏🏿
my brain turned to mush after the first half of ttpd so i can’t imagine listening to EVERY song in a few days 😭 as a huge fan of taylor, it’s so interesting to hear your thoughts on her journey and each song individually. my personal favorites are evermore and fearless, but the anthology will definitely be in my top once i give it some more time.
my brain was so mushed that at this point I literally can't remember filming anything, it's been wiped away from me hahaha. when I'm a little more removed from it I'm gonna relisten to a few things and see how I feel. and I def want to watch the tour movie at some point
The first Taylor album I've ever fully listened to was ttpd and anthology. I did it over three days and then watched a detailed reaction to it. It was good I like a lot of it and some so so but Anthology absolutely had me fu**ed up by the end 😂I was not expecting it at all
@@shelleynull6532 this album is super heavy but it's honestly a perfect showcase of her songwriting abilities. if you wanted to dive into more of her music after this album, i'd recommend folklore and evermore! they're very similar to the anthology in both sound and songwriting.
Honestly seeing someone who isn't a swiftie put this much time and effort into genuinely giving her discography a chance is super refreshing 😭 I get overwhelmed every time she releases a new album idk how you did this hahaha. I will say a lot of her songs are definitely growers, my faves on each album almost always change after a few listens.
the sexy baby line in anti hero is a reference to a show and its supposed to represent how women are only viewed as valuable when they look young but are still sexualized
It's a reference to show 30 rock. There was a girl who acted like baby talked like a baby but dressed really provocative. Tina fey said to her you should drop this sexy baby stuff.
@@xxjestertheclownxx the sexy baby line is specifically from an episode of 30 rock tho, also it doesn't make me uncomfortable i love it bc i love 30 rock so i understood where it came from right away
As a swifte: The fact that you figure out the references and everything as a non swiftie who listens for the first time is craaaaazy to me. I literally need to listen to a song so many times for that. I actually get most of this stuff from Tik Tok and other swifties hahaha
I am swiftie and I have been a fan since the beginning of her career and I have to admit that I was so hesitant to watch this video. I appreciate that you took the time to actually listen to her music and give it a chance. As you said with debut, it's been amazing to see her grow as an artist and as a person. I also appreciate that you acknowledge that so much of the criticism levied against her has an undertone of misogyny. All Too Well 10, for the record, is a fandom favorite and we actually asked her repeatedly to release the full version because we had the normal five minute version for about ten years.
screw an undertone, the criticism she gets REEKS of misogyny, it's horrible! it's amazing that you've felt so close to her since the beginning, I only have a few artists that I feel that deeply about and they've felt like home for so long, it's a beautiful thing. all too well 10 is a masterpiece!!
I was just screaming why why why the whole video but I understand everyone can't love same thing but you mentioned mt fav song and I howled like a wolf - the prophecy, guilty as sin , delicate, ivy , seven , fearless@@mckennalovescontent
Writing her music is her therapy. It's how she gets her feelings out. And then she shares those intimate thoughts with the whole world. That's pretty brave. Imagine if everyone who went to therapy allowed all those intimate sessions to be recorded and played for the world...
Thank you for saying she is relatable bc lots of people who haven’t deep dived into her music say she isn’t relatable cause they only heard “You Belong With Me” as if no one as had that friend they have where they are developing feelings for their friend but that friend isn’t being treated right by their partner.
The fact that Taylor thanks all the girl her man loved before while Taylor is continuously being toasted for all the men she loved before is just fucked up!
Same here, I didn't really grow up with Taylor Swift, probably heard like 2 songs because they were super popular, but then for some reason started listening to her music in late 2023 and I find myself slowing trickling into the fandom world. Absolutely was not expecting it but happy to be there.
I think it's really common for people to prefer Folklore over Evermore on first listen because I do think the former is more easily accessible, but I've also seen it happen a lot where people end up preferring Evermore after repeated listens to both - it tends to grow on you. Evermore is also a winter album, and I find it hits much more on gray and gloomy days.
I agree. At first I loved folklore with my whole heart but evermore is just next level. Even though exile (from folklore) is also my fav TS song of all time, somehow for me it hits more within evermore. With each listen evermore just gets better for me and it has been in my top listened Spotify albums third year in a row. 🤌🏻
@@ufcia20I feel the same way. Peace is my favorite song like ever, never felt more seen or like the words were ripped straight out of my spine in a very raw way. But evermore as a whole project just speaks to me in many different ways. It’s a masterpiece. Also, I have liked closure since the first time I heard it lol. I know people don’t like the pots falling down the stairs noises at the beginning and it puts them off it, but I’m a fan of the song and I probably always will be
@@mckennalovescontentalso, castles crumbling could be a reference to call it what you want (rep) where she sings: my castle crumbled overnight, and in bad blood (the keys, when she got ‘locked out’, and in ttpd ‘im the queen of sandcastles he destroys’
Your interpretation of Clean was really refreshing. Knowing the horrible situation that inspired the song makes it feel so different from anything she’s ever written. You should definitely check that out, she talks about it in her Miss Americana documentary.
I think with her relationship with Matty it is important to know they have been on and off and tied together in some way since 2014. And I think this last time was the very last time she will ever give him a chance. So it wasn’t like she somehow had crazy feelings after 2 months of dating him 😂
She also worked on some midnights songs with him i think, so he might've been her friend for a while, maybe he was there while her relationship with joe was crumbling, which is very fertile ground for smthg to grow between the two of them. He was basically promising her everything joe wouldn't give her aka children and marriage
As an evermore STAN, I have to say that cowboy like me is a grower, it was originally my least favourite on the album, but now its my 2nd favourite Taylor song of all time
As a swiftie I love when people are open-minded and give her music a chance. A decision to listen to her full discography in 3 days is definitely brave😅I loved the videos sm🫶🏻
i just want to say i really appreciated that you came into this with an open mind. as a swiftie of 15+ years, i've seen the rise and fall and back and forth of public opinion about taylor and it was super refreshing to see someone approach her discography with the thoughtfulness that you did. and while i may disagree with some of your takes, we actually have a lot of the same feelings towards certain songs. what i try to remember as a long time fan is that i am biased because i grew up with her. but i can look back at her older albums with nostalgia and still understand your criticisms as someone with a fresh perspective. i think one of the best things about taylor is that she has something for everyone and not everything for anyone. i think most die hard fans can agree that all we want is for people to give her work an honest and fair shot, which you absolutely did. great video!
38:58 I love that you said this!! The song is all about Taylor’s anxieties! The song constantly builds but never releases, like Taylor is holding her breath, never feeling that she can reach that next breath of freeing air
As a non-Swiftie, I also love Folklore. I really do think it is the strongest lyrically and the most detailed. It’s genuinely such a beautiful album. I love to play Folklore and Evermore while I do art…it’s the perfect vibe. I haven’t listened to the new album yet…so, we will see. Also, girlie, this content is top tier and very smart. Good for you! You are playing the UA-cam game so well!
I think Folklore is the one that reaches more people than just her typical fanbase *because* it leans away from pop the most. For the new stuff, I'm telling you, Anthology > TTPD Also thank you! I'm trying my hardest over here hahaha
Just like folklore has the love triangle songs, evermore has a duo. ‘tis the damn season is from the perspective of dorothea coming home to her small town for the holidays, dorothea is her high school sweetheart saying they’ll always be there for her
@@ufcia20 There’s this thing called intertextual analysis. Taylor often alludes to other pieces of media (books, song, movies) and is known for being self-referential (samples her own songs, repeats themes and lyrics to show different songs are connected, etc.) It’s not a leap to infer two songs on the same album that mention leaving your small town in search for something greater and realizing that what was left behind is also special, are connected. Taylor also never said that out of the woods and is it over now? are connected, or red and maroon, but we use intertextual analysis to understand where they overlap and infer they are. If you have to have it spelled out for you and/or are so opposed to analyzing her music through different lenses then please move along, this comment wasn’t for you
Holy Crap this was an investment. I'm not a Swiftie either but she does have a beautiful voice. I watched a TV interview with Stevie Nix about what she went through in the '70s and '80s and being overly criticized as a woman when Male musicians were held to completely different standards. If you haven't listened to Fleetwood Mac's, Rumors album, and the backstory behind the album. The band was all fighting because almost everyone had cheated on each other with another band member, Then they basically all locked themselves in a remote farmhouse and wrote all the album's songs based on their tumultuous relationships and arguments. All while trying not to kill each other lol
oh yeah an INVESTMENT that I didn't fully realize I was making hahaha I love Fleetwood Mac! What's the interview? I'd love to watch it (do they have a documentary?)
Long-time major swiftie here. Loved this video, wow I respect the commitment. Also call a song boring if it's boring! Speak your truthhhh not every song can be a supermodel
As a long time Swiftie (like 18 years long) I really appreciated your video! It was so nice to hear you talk about her music career from a (somewhat) outsiders perspective! Plus even with the songs you didn't enjoy you were still nice about them! Normal level headed swifties won't take any offence for some of her music not being your taste! The other "swifties" I can't speak for but if they send you hate pleaseeee know that it's not coming from the collective 😂 and that most of us will really love and support your video like I did!
You're so lovely, thank you so much!! I'm definitely a little nervous but the only people that have been mean about it so far are men who didn't even watch 🙄 and omg 18 years! Isn't it nice having such a crazy emotional connection to an artist? I only have a few I feel deeply connected to, but they feel like home 💖
@@mckennalovescontent i can guarantee every single true swiftie has songs from her discography they actively dislike. With a discography the size of hers it’s absolutely reasonable! Anyone who says otherwise or hates on you for an opinion we DO NOT associate with. For example I can not stand the song stay stay stay from red. I hate it with my entire soul. Does that mean I’m a “hater” and not a real fan? No. Of course not. I love Taylor’s music with all my heart💗
The speak now placement hurt me to my very core ( I am a speak now Stan) , but I so respect this. This is an insane way to listen to Taylor swift though, I certainly couldn’t do it and I’m a swiftie 😂
The Great War isn’t talking about her grandfather and him fighting in WWII. It’s a metaphor for her relationship with Joe Alwyn. I agree with you on glitch and Paris.
Every time I hear the Great War, I can’t help thinking about Katnis and Peeta from The Hunger Games 😂😂😂😂 all because I watched an edit of them to this song on UA-cam 😂 I can’t unsee it now, it’s their song now
You completely misunderstood what she said. She was talking about "Epiphany" about her grandpa and war trauma, and how inappropriate "The Great War" feels in comparison to make war metaphors for her relationship.
the way you felt about The Archer was actually the whole point - the production is meant to represent the mounting feeling of anxiety seen in the song. I'd recommend that you relisten to it later :)
That explains so much! I love that she got her point across so well that I picked up on it, even knowing none of the backstory. I'll listen to it again (once I'm a little further away from the video) with that in mind 💖
Taking in all of her discography is absolutely insane and indeed after a while you get a bit tired as it is a lot to digest but truly no one in this fandom would come for you due to the actual effort you put in to listen and digest her work. It’s admirable tbh. I do think you should listen to the non-album singles because she has some beautiful songs like “Beautiful Ghost” and “Safe and Sound” and actually has a song called “Christmas Tree Farm” 😂
Out of the woods also represents anxiety. This constantly repeating phrase of the chorus embodies restless thoughts and the very feeling of anxiety that constantly rolls over. Loved to hear your thoughts! Gonna go and watch your other videos, ‘cos I’m also a reader:)
You explaining in the end you understand everything and saying shes relatable and makes you feel seen healed my heart and yes i want the songs ranking this was awesome AND THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING HER SILLY LYRICS
19:03 innocent is basically a song about Kanye West and Taylor forgiving him for what he did at the 2009 VMAs so there’s your context there. Speak now is actually a song that Taylor wrote because Haley Williams recently attended the wedding of her ex who is her band mate. Ours and superman are songs that were written about John Mayer early on in their relationship so you can see the delulu in those songs.
oh she's a better person than I am, I would not have forgiven That Man I can see the delulu! and the progression through their relationship, from those ones to the songs ripping him.
As a Swiftie from the first time I heard Our Song in High School, I agree with your assessments for the most part. I think it is actually pretty fitting that your first couple rankings had the second half of the albums falling off. The vault tracks were not included on the originals for a reason. Now that she is establish we look back with nostalgia colored eyes on these vault tracks. I love them myself and think that every song of hers deserves another listen but great job on this project! I fell in love with you the minute I heard you love Blink and saw the books, fits, the hair and the tattoos! God bless your channel!
just found your channel and watched this whole video and what you did is IMPRESSIVE! i appreciate your honest reactions and not just glazing every single song
You did it! I applaud you for doing all her albums, back to back, especially not being a hardcore fan. I couldn't help but laugh watching you react and share your notes. I am a "Me" stan (there are many of us lol) but I am not mad about what you said, it was funny. "Me" is easier to appreciate when stripped back without all the instrumentals. My brain was also mush after listening to all of TTPD in one day (so i can imagine how much brain power it took for you to do this video and I appreciate you for following through with it all), so I walked away feeling overwhelmed but returning with fresh ears, as you did, I loved all of it. It grows on you with every listen. Many are saying this album was for her and not for critics and i see that now. The Anthology is by far my favorite of the two.
@@mckennalovescontent you get a glimpse of it on her Netflix documentary Miss Americana, where it shows the early stage of what it could have been (a sad ballad that turned into a mess) but no, there’s no official acoustic version of it. Only covers of people redoing it the way it was before.
how can anyone hate you??? you are being honest and most of the time pretty on point with what is usually very cringy or objectively bad lyrics in her songs. and you were open and enjoyed many of them too.
I'm a 44 yr old swiftie. As a female human I relate to ALOT of he music. Even tho I'm 10 yrs older than Tay I feel like I've grown "up with her" through her music journey. It's hard to put into words. I'm also a mom to a 27 yr old daughter AND a 17 yr old daughter and it's one thing all 3 of us have in common. My relationship w my kids is better. Ty for your honest review. And I'm not mad. It's called opinions. U don't crap on her like most.
Not gonna crap on her! I respect the hell out of her. And I ADORE the fact that you are able to connect with your daughters over the emotions Taylor brings to the table, that's absolutely beautiful 💖
same, i'm 50 and we didn't follow Taylor from the start (American country music wasn't that popular in Australia) but we knew her songs and would sing them, we became fans from SN and then full blown Swifties from 1989. As my girls mature and have life experiences, we share the moments with Taylor, it's marvellous. Did Sydney N4 Eras with my eldest daughter and it was amazing.
You are CRAZY for tackling so many songs in such a short period of time, but I absolutely loved this video and your interpretations of the songs. Great work, and thanks for giving these albums a chance!
I loveeee the way you recognize her “self-mythologizing” throughout each record - it’s such a fun thing to analyze, and more and more examples of those references leap to the surface the more time you spend with her music
woowww this is some dedication!! I will say for me, and for the of majority of swifty Tumblr and Twitter lol, that TTPD is a grower and not a shower, I would definitely give it a try when you’re not just trying to get through it, as it really is an album that you have to listen to and process. It’s one of her most in-depth, raw albums, and I would definitely give it more of a chance! for me, I would probably rank the first part over the second part with how much I’ve grown to love it in the last few days, and it was very much the opposite on release day. It’s very cynical and downright hilarious when you understand her intentions behind some songs and lyrics; the title itself is a mockery of the tortured poet that she’s describing throughout the album, two characters and two men that we don’t fully see or understand, as the album is based around solely her, with them as the trigger for her mania. This was mentioned in her “summation” poem in the booklet of the album, which I would thoroughly recommend anyone reading before beginning the double album, as it perfectly tunes us into her mental state and intentions and makes it overall so much more interesting. I’ve been a fan of her for almost my whole life, my first concert being hers when I was four years old, with great attachment to each album, and it’s already skyrocketed to my top three. ooooh and 'cowboy like me'! It seems to be a trend that lots of people don’t like the song at first, and then it becomes a top favorite, which was my relationship with it, and now almost all of my usernames are based around it lmao, so I would definitely give it a few more listens if you were up for it! I would say that Midnights is the most polarizing Taylor Swift album within public opinion and even her community, but as someone who really adores it, I would definitely give it another chance, keeping in mind its unserious nature; it’s essentially a breakdown album before the breakup. 'you're losing me' coming out way later, after the breakup, and it was like a puzzle piece clicking together. And OMG, I’m so sorry for rambling, but Evermore, to me, is a better album song-wise, and Folklore is a better album as a body of work. Folklore tells a story, and Evermore shows us momentary windows into her world, so I can’t begin to compare them. “Happiness” is assumed to be about her relationship with Scott Borchetta, The CEO of Big Machine Records, the man who sold her masters. She had practically grown up with him, and her family treated him like family, so when that whole debacle went down, there was lots of anger from both sides, and the song is basically her grappling with that. It is not appreciated enough by many, and I care for it so deeply, so I hope that explanation adds a little bit more love to it lol So sorry for rambling! I love her very dearly, and I’m so happy that you chose to do this. I hope your sleep was good after all the editing lmao💗💗
A GROWER NOT A SHOWER ok I have an 18 hour drive in a few weeks, so I'll give ttpd and midnights another listen then (and everything sounds better in the car anyway). you're losing me slaps already, though. nonononono I love the rambling, this is exactly what I wanted, this is all extremely interesting from a (pretty much) outsider's perspective immediately after I finished editing I posted, and immediately after posting I had to write a research paper that was due at midnight lolol so after THAT I finally got some sleep
I love this comment so much! I fully agree with “cowboy like me”, at first I didn’t like it at all and now it’s my favourite! And TTPD really becomes better with each listen!
I love this response! The other thing I was going to add is that so many swifties deep dive into the lyrics and story behind each song which being it to life in a different way than it does on your first listen or two. When you understand what she’s talking about or referencing the story becomes alive in your head and the “weird lyrics” become a puzzle piece. I have found this to be true with soooo sooo many of her songs and thats one reason why a lot of them are growers!
ok - you’re amazing. Don’t ever do this to yourself again. I’m subscribing. You’re reacting to ttpd/anthology as I first did.Listen again …after you get some sleep, please. The anthology is amazing, glad you took a break. Yes, this album keeps SLAPPING. She’s purging. And I hope she gets freedom, says what she needs to say , and begins a new chapter. And I hope she gets some peace.
idk why my comment isn't showing up but I'll type it again: sorry to tell you, but I screenshotted your original comment (pre-editing) where you said "I'm subscribing because you're insane" and i'm going to print it, frame it, and hang it on the wall in my office
You just made me realize something, a couple days ago I was listening to a playlist of old song and I thought to myself that we rarely have songs with storytelling nowadays, I was listening to Hotel California and it's quite amazing how you can picture the story of the song, it's like a great horror movie, and thats why Taylor is so huge, she does that, she tells stories in her songs, I wasn't a Swiftie growing up either, I was an Indie teen, but since yesterday I started listening to some of Taylor's song and now I get it completely! It's like a light bulb just lit up in my head 😂😂
you're absolutely right! my oldies playlist is on constant rotation in my house and the storytelling aspect that used to happen all the time is the best part of it
Not sure if anyone else has said this, but "Enchanted" is inspired by Taylor meeting Owl City (Adam Young) during a party! Adam did use the words "wonderstruck" and "enchanted" in real life, which inspired the song.
Not even joking - this is the best video I’ve ever seen. I love the attitude you went in with and the amount of time you dedicated to each song (not too much or too little). What you said about midnights being unserious is actually what we are now saying about the tortured poets department. Judging from the title, everyone (including swifties) thought this would be an album full of deep, serious, tortured & poetic lyrics and though we do get some of that, the whole title and concept is making fun of the pretentious, (forcefully) tortured art bro/writer trope. -> “You left your typewriter at my apartment, straight from the tortured poets department.” “I think some things I never say, like who uses typewriters anyway?” “you’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patty Smith, this ain’t the Chelsea hotel, were modern idiots” In her epilogue about the album, she describes that phase in her life as “manic” and of “temporary insanity”. That’s why the first half can come across chaotic and the lyrics are sometimes hella specific and other times vague and confusing. It might be the progression from her old albums that you were missing - she was manically writing all of this in the midst of chaos, but doesn’t censor herself anymore afterwards.
23:28 she really likes making references to old Hollywood, but this song in particular is about Robert and Ethel Kennedy. Just a cute song that she thought up when she saw a photograph of them when they were 17, and wondered what the night might’ve been like.
Not my kind of music either! But I'm happy I can appreciate a talented person when I hear one, I'm not comfortable with the vacuum of negativity that people throw at her And thank you!!
Always! High levels of respect. Also I should have said - *mostly* not my kind of music. Obviously as you can see from the video, some of her stuff rocked me
I used to think the same about out of the woods, but I’ve come around to the idea that the repetition really lays the foundation for the anxiety of the song
Lol dorothea is about the person who sings in tis the damn season, therefore the narrator of tis the damn season is dorothea. Tis the damn season is consequently about the narrator of dorothea
I really love your honest reactions. I was a swiftie in my teens and kind of grew out of her but I have been listening to her again after watching the eras tour and remembered how much I missed listening to her songs
the more you listen to evermore the more you’ll like it. Especially cowboy like me, ivy, right where you left me, no body no crime, tolerate it, closure, evermore, tis the damn season, and champagne problems
this is such a great video!! I love that you acknowledge that songs are allowed to be unserious and cheesy sometimes, because a lot of people aren’t able to do that. also you ate with that paw patrol comment lmao
Is there anyone else who loved ttpd on the first listen and loves all the 'impressive' vocab too. I need to know I'm not alone 😅😂 Btw dont get me wrong, I understand how it could be a grower for some people, midnights was a grower for me..
You are not alone ! I instantly loved ttpd and it went straight to my top 2 (now top 3 after listening to anthology lol). Even though I really like the vibe of Fortnight I do think the first 2 tracks are a bit weaker than the rest of the album and that probably didn't help people's opinions.
@NisaroGaming Agreed, I also find Clara bow one of the weaker tracks imo. Definitely find the rest of the album stronger. The smallest man who ever lived has one of her best bridges as well, it builds so perfectly!
I dunno if I'm just insane but TTPD didn't sound like anything she had done before to me and I was VERY acquainted with the albums before it. It kind of blew my fucking mind, honestly.
Love that you’re constantly scared of our (swifties) reactions to your opinions but you’re wearing outfits that match the eras so I am completely sold on your opinions 😌
the description you gave for the archer is exactly what taylor wanted i guess its about anxiety…the beat builds up but never drops which exactly how anxiety feels loved the video!
this is one of my favourite reaction/ranking videos i've come across, your respect, dedication and clarity are so refreshing to find on the internet. even on such a crazy timeline this was so well done and genuine, and i appreciate your open mindset coming into this video. subscribing for the way you can communicate in 4am brain mush. also we have a lot of the same favourite ts albums hehe good taste
as a swiftie since all too well 10 min version, insanely proud of your committment to this. there's so much going on in her discography and i'm glad you took the time to take a break before revisitng. loved hearing your commentary
I have been a fan for 15 years, so when your video popped up, i was like ooh yes, but then the intro and hearing your plan to listen to it all in 3 days, i was like noooooo don't do that 😅 just because it's so much and even for me, my mind and mood would be so braindead and grumpy. But you made it through; congrats! I really liked your observations, opinions, & take on things! You seriously did a great job; i loved it! Taylor really does make us feel seen & that's just the best feeling. Plus, being a fan of hers means you will be getting new content all the time, which is very nice 😆 Please watch the eras tour and post it!
I’ve been a Swiftie since her Debut album and loved this video! I love seeing people give her a real chance and I appreciate your honesty with each song, even those you didn’t like! Also funny to note is that Me! was the last leading single she released. The fandom ripped her for it and we have never gotten a leading single since 🫠
i love when people give her an actual chance, even if you don't like her songs but if you're respectful and it's actually possible to have a reasonable discussion with you, that's just the best thing!
Since you invested so much time in the process of reviewing and reacting, I will put forth effort I wouldn't usually in the comment. I will enter then edit as I am writing as I am watching. Self Titled- Self titled was a dreamy album she wrote as a kid who knew nothing about life or love, and he first and only real taste of true lifelong friendship/companionship comes through in her song "15" about her relationship with Abigail with whom she is still close friends. All the inspiration for the songs were literally from movies, TV shows, dreams, and people watching. A very naive and wistful view of the world. Fearless- Fearless was her first step out into the world a bit. She had real relationship experience (most people already know) with Joe Jonas and John Mayer. All of these relationships were of course superficial, holding hands, kissing. Vows of celibacy and all that jazz. Aside from John. He tried his best to sleep with her and when he couldn't get it he got frustrated and gave up resulting in Dear John as a response. But again, the reason these songs sound dreamy, romcom, and Disney is because they are. All of her ideas and experiences of romance are directly related to romance movies, books, shows, dreams and aren't based in real life. So there is a bit of a disconnect with people who do not share that sense of innocence and/or are a bit jaded already. Speak Now- Speak Now was written entirely by her- no co-writers on the songs as people in public were already starting to create and jump on a bandwagon of hate against her- from criticizing her relationships or discrediting how much of the lyrics and composing aspects of her albums were solely her own. To prove them wrong she wrote Speak Now entirely on her own. This album was also written during a really transitional point in her life. It was right after she won album of the year at the Grammys and the MTV incident with Kanye West. The bad and scary things that begin to happen when you become an unsheltered adult- moving out on your own, having to deal with cruel and sometimes unwarranted criticism and bullying on your own, and along with the amazing high of being elevated to such a status of popularity, also the fear of how far the inevitable fall will be. Red- It is funny how you mention the first half of the album wasn't for you. The first half of the album was written full of hopes and dreams after arriving in a new city, new experiences, new relationships... She was now fully in the spotlight, attending all the star studded events as a 20/21/22 year old. Imagine the world being your oyster and having the money, status, and connections for the sky to literally be the limit for you. The first half was written when she started her romance with Jake Gyllenhaal... Poor dear saw him in movies all growing up and probably felt like she knew him like we all get irrational attachments and ideas of our favorite actors and actresses. Like Robin Williams for 90s kids. Then when he swept her off her feet, told her all the right things, took her to meet his family for the holidays- she was convinced it was inevitable he would be the one she was going to marry and she fell hard and fast. And he was her first. She was waiting for marriage but since she knew that would come later she didn't wait. (The scarf she continuously references is a metaphor for her virginity). And then the second half of the album was the result of the break down and realization that it wasn't real and it would not lead to the happily ever after she was imagining. And that resulted in the jaded, melancholy, genuinely depressed rest of the album. It was raw and it was painful. Many people can connect with that. She also has a deep sense of foreboding about her inevitable downfall in the near future, with the song Lucky One and Nothing New- She is deeply intuned to the fact the bigger you are the harder you fall so with each increasing popularity she feels more existential dread for how it ends. *** Also, the reason she has such a romanticism about the 40s is because of her deep love and admiration of her grandparents and their love story. After seeing their love story- her grandfather going off to fight in the war, her grandmother waiting for him, and then the life they lived together is something she continuously references and revisits in multiple albums and multiple multiple songs going forward. 1989- It is so funny you mention Welcome to New York being a New York tourism song- because it absolutely is. She is an embassador for New York City Tourism. It also is the opening song for the Secret Life of Pets. Blue Dress on a boat is a reference to a media shared photo a paparazzi took of her leaving an island on a ferry in a beautiful, flowy, blue vacation dress after the break down of her relationship with Harry Styles. She left that vacation for two to fly home alone. In fact, the blue dress IS the actual dress she wears AND DESTROYS in the Out of the Woods music video. The paper airplane necklace she throws is also a gift and matching necklace she has/had with Harry Styles. Reputation-
Reputation- Before Taylor wrote and released Reputation her entire life was lived and her entire character was built of of the ideal that you have to always be a "good person" or a "good girl" or perfect role model. She always tried to be good, and a role model, and nice, be the bigger person ect... Only for people to harshly criticize her as being fake, inauthentic, and a snake. With Reputation she let's go of trying to be perfect and always fitting the image of good, and embraced the fact that it is okay to be less than perfect. It is okay to get angry. It is okay to say no. It is okay to be loud about what you want, what you've achieved, what you deserve, and even what you don't deserve. People are going to hate you. Not everyone is going to like you. And people are going to criticize you no matter what you do or don't do. *** References her relationship with Calvin Harris in Gorgeous and Getaway Car. Most of us Swifties erase the relationship with Calvin out if our minds and her relationship timelines because we just don't care for him. No legitimate reason why. But strong aversion to Calvin. *** Also, this album styling and more adult content is very heavily influenced by Game of Thrones. Lover- Most Swifties prefer "Sad Taylor" or "Angry Taylor" so "Happy Taylor" did not land as well. Also, this album dropped right before the beginning of the Pandemic, so the ensuing depression the entire world experienced did not connect well with the song. Those factors along with the lack of promotion of the album led to this being a lost gem album. * Me! is absolutely awful. I was so excited for a Brendan Urie feature and getting Me! as that collaboration was soooo disappointing. The music video is chefs kiss though. Folklore/Evermore: *** The Last Great American Dynasty is about the previous owner of her Rhode Ilsand Mansion. Rebekah Harkness. *** Folklore and Evermore are sister albums. Evermore is essentially a continuation of Evermore. Evermore is one of the lowest fan rated albums, but I know I personally love Evermore much more after the Eras tour performances of the album. Midnights- *** The everybody is a sexy baby line has a couple of meanings. For me I can see it literally if you look up a photo of Taylor with Sabrina Carpenter and Gayle at the AMAs. Taylor is 5'11" and with heels she physically and literally towers over most female celebrities making them in effect "sexy babies" in comparison. For figuratively, her celebrity status has reached such a massive level that she is giant monster who can't even go out in public without ruining everyone's time with the chaos that ensues. Look up what happened when she attended Jack Antonoff's wedding. * The Great War is a mash up with multiple meanings. It is about both her relationship while also referencing her grandfather and his experiences in WWII. She has a few songs that feel uncohesive and that is because she draws from multiple viewpoints and experiences that may not actually fit together. * High Infidelity is about her cheating on Calvin Harris which did actually happen. You can Google where was Taylor Swift on April 29th. I believe it was at the Met Gala where she met Joe Alwyn. *** You definitely were just burned out on Taylor Swift so I hope you revisit later after you recover 😂😂 - The Tortured Poets Department/The Anthology- *** Matty Healy and Taylor has a relationship back in her 1989 era but it wasn't widely publicized. They then continued to have a flirtationship for the next decade before reuniting after her relationship with Joe broke down. The relationship with Joe broke down because he would not or could not fully commit to her. Her song Lavender Haze was her denying to herself that commitment really mattered that much to her, and that as long as she could live with her lover that was all she needed. But after a lifetime of dreaming of the happily ever after of marriage, children and a big happy family it wasn't realistic and she was just in denial. After a 7 year relationship that consumed her entire life that started at her absolute lowest point in life breaking down due to lack of commitment and being him being unsure of what he wanted and only tolerating her love, Matty swooped in after a literal decade of pining for one another- him and her both dropping secret lyrics and songs about their flirtationship (think The 1 from Folklore, and also Guilty as Sin and Fresh Out the Slammer) and told her everything she wanted to hear. "At dinner you took my ring off my middle finger and put it on the one people put wedding rings on- and thats the closest I've come to my Heart exploding" "You said if the sex was half as good as the conversation pretty soon we would be pushing cradles." Then factor that in with the line about Joe, "I'm pissed off you let me give you all that youth for free." IE- the biological clock is ticking and she feels she is running out of time to have children as 35 is considered a mature pregnancy and raises the risk of miscarriage and infant mortality and birth defects. If you take the feelings the person is feeling in "Tolerate It" and "You're Losing Me" then come in saying I've loved you and waited for you for 10 years. Let's get married and have kids." That would definitely amplify the depth of feelings for that person. Rebound energy. Which is also referenced in "Fortnight" which mentioned "I took the miracle move on drug. The effects were temporary." Insinuating she now knows the relationship was just a rebound and not as serious as she had felt it was in the heat of that moment. "Matty Healy only Jesus can help you." Honestly I f*cking SNORTED when you said this. Now- I write this absolutely insane, unhinged, TLDR NOVEL of a comment to you as a lifelong Swiftie who grew up with Taylor. Literally- I am 34 and was the age that Taylor was when she wrote, recorded, and released these albums. I WAS 22 when she released 22. So I connect very deeply with her and her lyrics because we were experiencing a lot of the same things at the same time. Even the relationships and media coverage- I was INVESTED in the stories, photos, memes, award shows, ect ect as they were happening. Which is probably why I was crazy enough to leave this massive comment. But again, I respect the fact you took on this massive undertaking as a non fan. You invested hours and days into this listening, reaction, and reviews. I also appreciate you being able to throw away any preconceived notions and hipster bandwagon hate and being willing to give an actual constructive review. So thanks for that.
@@mckennalovescontent noo😭 folklore is also the one for me i think its better than evermore but im just tryin to say evermore have those songs with really complex lyrics
This was a really really good video, it was really refreshing. I loved watching it, the hour and fifteen minutes went by surprisingly fast. Thanks for making this.
"Taylor herself isn't bad news, she only is when you hurt her" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 No better words has ever been said I really appreciate you and everything you did in this video, I love how you figured out some connection to different songs between different eras Like maroon, king of my heart Taylor LOVES to do this, and almost every song in ttpd has a reference from her older songs and that answers how she deals with what she's written about past lovers I will say this tho,, as a midnights enjoyer, if you ever feel like it maybe visit it some other time, But all in all i enjoyed every second of this, you gained a new subscriber 🔥🫡
songs like the archer, you're on your own kid, most of ttpd and midnights songs that you said you didn't like on the first listen will just randomly click some day and poof ur obsessed it was so overwhelming for me to fully grasp the entire ttpd AND the anthology albums, a process that took me months, and little did i know that someone in the other corner of the globe is struggling to catch up to her entire discography at the very same moment and tbh no one can deny that you did a great job but trust me it will take you years to come to a full understanding of her entire discography and the whole lore behind it. thank you so much for this video i enjoyed it a lot!
I've been a fan for over a decade and i still had trouble processing 31 tracks in one night, i just cannot understand how someone goes through her entire discography in 3 days, but thanks for doing so in such an open way, she's polarizing to the masses and now it's getting "trendy" to hate TS again in social media, which is in my opinion, just pure misogyny, so seeing someone be open to listen and process and give thought to these albums is very nice to see, also don't mind if the hardcore stans come for you, stan culture sickens the head as we know and the actual fans will be open to have a nuanced conversation about her or her music. I do have to say that i agree with what you said about the 11th album, by the time someone gets to TTPD the production gets repetitive and i think thats a signal for her to start inviting more producers to the studio and continue evolving as an artist
I highly recommend the live acoustic performance of Dancing with Our Hands Tied from the Rep tour. I had the same issues with the production but the live performance made it my favorite song on the album.
subscribe if you wanna be able to vote for the next artist I do this with! ya girl is a people pleaser and I am LISTENING to the people ✨
I WOULD LOVE A VIDEO LIKE THIS FOR LORDE'S DISCOGRAPHY! She only has 3 albums so far so it would be a much quicker process lol
Not sure what you genres you're into but here are some of my favorite artists that have discographies that aren't too lengthy, are diverse in sound, and just overall great music in my opinion: Halsey, mgk, NF, Melanie Martinez, ICE NINE KILLS
Lana del Rey 😏
OLIVIA RODRIGO
Noah kahan!
This! I may have differing opinions but the honest effort is so important.
Exactly I want to hear other people’s genuine thoughts about something I love. If they like it, it’s great, if they don’t it’s great as well. It’s all subjective
Facts on facts! 😊
Welcome home, also a blink 182 fan of 22 years! You can enjoy good music without shame. ♥️ you accidentally missed about 240 songs but no big. You seem like my kinda person so I’m subbing! Also, your tattoos are excellent! You have really great taste!
Yeah, I respected this vid. it was solid
Puerto Rican Queen ❤
Why it was confusing for you ?
Not just that - she's making her grandmother's dreams come true. She's singing on stage to thousands and thousands of people
Why would that confuse you? It was obvious that she did that to honor her grandma and it really is an emotional song
I feel like w a lot of her songs they seem boring or don’t hit immediately and then it’s a random tuesday in september and you’re like Oh🤕🙂↕️

The Archer- is about her anxiety. And honestly your description of the song is exactly how I feel about my anxiety. I'll count that as a win
Ahhh it makes so much sense!
same with Out of the Woods! it's about a relationship full of anxiety hence the perhaps excessive repetitiveness in the chorus

@@mckennalovescontentoh my God thank you for saying that Anthology is better!!! I feel like I'm the only one who says that, it's so underrated 😭
Just like folklore has the love triangle songs, evermore has a duo. ‘tis the damn season is from the perspective of dorothea coming home to her small town for the holidays, dorothea is her high school sweetheart saying they’ll always be there for her
Only ugly people likes folklore and evermore
I didn't know this?? Taylor said this?
@@Ryennekelly she didnt
Girlie, give us a source or go write a song with that idea in mind
All while trying not to kill each other lol
oh yeah an INVESTMENT that I didn't fully realize I was making hahaha
I love Fleetwood Mac!
I agree!!
Yup, ditto. 😁
Haha yeah, hearing she preferred angry Taylor, I was sure she’ll love Speak Now 😂
The Great War isn’t talking about her grandfather and him fighting in WWII. It’s a metaphor for her relationship with Joe Alwyn. I agree with you on glitch and Paris.
I know! I meant to say, the song Epiphany had been talking about WWII and her grandfather
Every time I hear the Great War, I can’t help thinking about Katnis and Peeta from The Hunger Games 😂😂😂😂 all because I watched an edit of them to this song on UA-cam 😂 I can’t unsee it now, it’s their song now
@TessaxMusic95 wait drop the link hahaha
@@mckennalovescontent ua-cam.com/users/shortsOxru-CJwlQ4?si=dsqDFfBogNB1qCsm
You completely misunderstood what she said. She was talking about "Epiphany" about her grandpa and war trauma, and how inappropriate "The Great War" feels in comparison to make war metaphors for her relationship.
If there is one thing swifties love it's ranking her songs and creating tier lists. Yes please!
the way you felt about The Archer was actually the whole point - the production is meant to represent the mounting feeling of anxiety seen in the song.
Holy cow, this is amazing! I love your commitment and honesty, a true blessing for the swiftie community.
omg that's high praise, thank you!
Out of the woods also represents anxiety. This constantly repeating phrase of the chorus embodies restless thoughts and the very feeling of anxiety that constantly rolls over.
Loved to hear your thoughts!
Gonna go and watch your other videos, ‘cos I’m also a reader:)
Facts
damn the dedication to really sit and listen to all of this in such a short time i respect it. loved hearing ur thoughts as an kind of outsider!
definitely an outsider! I should have spaced them out a little more but I didn't realize TV made the albums that long hahaha
and thank you!!
Ours and superman are songs that were written about John Mayer early on in their relationship so you can see the delulu in those songs.
oh she's a better person than I am, I would not have forgiven That Man
I can see the delulu! and the progression through their relationship, from those ones to the songs ripping him.
Massive kudos for the huge effort spent creating this video. I hope you got some rest afterwards!
I have not! I finished editing right before I uploaded, and right after I started writing a research paper that's due at midnight hahaha
Also thank you! I'm so tired I can hear colors
Omg please sleep
@zio_beck NO. it's 2:30am and I just filmed the intro for another challenge, I cannot be stopped
@zio_beck jk now it's time for sleep
Exile being one of you’re favourites is a vibe, I don’t see many people putting it as one of their top songs
i LOVE exile
Happy I got this in my feed, really underrated channel
oh thank you, angel! I'm happy you're here 💖
just found your channel and watched this whole video and what you did is IMPRESSIVE! i appreciate your honest reactions and not just glazing every single song
Oh thank you for being here and watching! It definitely was overwhelming but, hold on - is there an acoustic version of Me?!
Came for T-Swift, staying for the book content!
Omg hi welcome home! Dare I say...........you belong with me
Yes! Same. Another win for a swiftie was finding you @mkennalovescontent !
Everyone said the same thing about shake it off until we were at the eras tour about to listen to it live and the stadium just blew up lmao
@@mckennalovescontent thank you so much.
Thank you for being here!
same, i'm 50 and we didn't follow Taylor from the start (American country music wasn't that popular in Australia) but we knew her songs and would sing them, we became fans from SN and then full blown Swifties from 1989.
A ranking of all of the songs would be so insane 😅 I wish you the best of luck
It is not appreciated enough by many, and I care for it so deeply, so I hope that explanation adds a little bit more love to it lol
So sorry for rambling! I love her very dearly, and I’m so happy that you chose to do this. I hope your sleep was good after all the editing lmao💗💗
A GROWER NOT A SHOWER
ok I have an 18 hour drive in a few weeks, so I'll give ttpd and midnights another listen then (and everything sounds better in the car anyway). you're losing me slaps already, though.
nonononono I love the rambling, this is exactly what I wanted, this is all extremely interesting from a (pretty much) outsider's perspective
immediately after I finished editing I posted, and immediately after posting I had to write a research paper that was due at midnight lolol so after THAT I finally got some sleep
I love this comment so much! I fully agree with “cowboy like me”, at first I didn’t like it at all and now it’s my favourite!
And TTPD really becomes better with each listen!
Love this comment too!
@@mckennalovescontent ur inhuman omg
And I hope she gets some peace.
idk why my comment isn't showing up but I'll type it again:
sorry to tell you, but I screenshotted your original comment (pre-editing) where you said "I'm subscribing because you're insane" and i'm going to print it, frame it, and hang it on the wall in my office
It's like a light bulb just lit up in my head 😂😂
you're absolutely right! my oldies playlist is on constant rotation in my house and the storytelling aspect that used to happen all the time is the best part of it
It’s fun to go back and listen to the old recordings as well and compare them because seriously the glow up of her vocals is so amazing. I love it.
-> “You left your typewriter at my apartment, straight from the tortured poets department.” “I think some things I never say, like who uses typewriters anyway?” “you’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patty Smith, this ain’t the Chelsea hotel, were modern idiots”
In her epilogue about the album, she describes that phase in her life as “manic” and of “temporary insanity”. That’s why the first half can come across chaotic and the lyrics are sometimes hella specific and other times vague and confusing. It might be the progression from her old albums that you were missing - she was manically writing all of this in the midst of chaos, but doesn’t censor herself anymore afterwards.
UA-cam definitely knows how to recommend me excellent quality youtubers, glad it sent me to your channel!
23:28 she really likes making references to old Hollywood, but this song in particular is about Robert and Ethel Kennedy. Just a cute song that she thought up when she saw a photograph of them when they were 17, and wondered what the night might’ve been like.
Damn that was an epic review! Not my sort of music at all but TS is an incredibly talented artist.
Not my kind of music either! But I'm happy I can appreciate a talented person when I hear one, I'm not comfortable with the vacuum of negativity that people throw at her
And thank you!!
This is my favorite kind of non-Swiftie person! The “not my style of music at all, but can acknowledge that she has talent” kind of person ❤
Always! High levels of respect. Also I should have said - *mostly* not my kind of music. Obviously as you can see from the video, some of her stuff rocked me
I used to think the same about out of the woods, but I’ve come around to the idea that the repetition really lays the foundation for the anxiety of the song
omg not the OG picture to burn lyric IM DEAD
hahahaha I thought I was losing my mind
Lol dorothea is about the person who sings in tis the damn season, therefore the narrator of tis the damn season is dorothea. Tis the damn season is consequently about the narrator of dorothea
omg ok that makes so much sense
I really love your honest reactions. I was a swiftie in my teens and kind of grew out of her but I have been listening to her again after watching the eras tour and remembered how much I missed listening to her songs
Fun fact “untouchable” from Fearless is actually technically a cover of another song by Luna Halo. It’s more like a rock song!😂 it blew my mind!
yupp and they allowed her to have writing credits on her cover because she basically transformed the song into her own. i love that song so much
wait ok I need to listen to this
the more you listen to evermore the more you’ll like it. Especially cowboy like me, ivy, right where you left me, no body no crime, tolerate it, closure, evermore, tis the damn season, and champagne problems
No body no crime is fantastic !!!
this was such a treat to watch! good on you for making this investment
thank you! I didn't realize how much time it would take going into it hahaha
this is such a great video!! I love that you acknowledge that songs are allowed to be unserious and cheesy sometimes, because a lot of people aren’t able to do that. also you ate with that paw patrol comment lmao
As someone who's been a Swiftie since I was like 13 I loved this video.
Reputation, folklore and evermore are my personal favorites ❤
Thank you! We have similar taste 💖
Is there anyone else who loved ttpd on the first listen and loves all the 'impressive' vocab too. I need to know I'm not alone 😅😂
Btw dont get me wrong, I understand how it could be a grower for some people, midnights was a grower for me..
It kind of blew my fucking mind, honestly.
tbh it might have had something to do with the fact that I was on day 3/hour 15/album 11 hahaha
Love that you’re constantly scared of our (swifties) reactions to your opinions but you’re wearing outfits that match the eras so I am completely sold on your opinions 😌
I love this idea!! Such a good video and I'm so intrigued by your opinions as a person who has never really listened to her music before.
I'm definitely an outsider here! But I had fun, even though I was losing my mind by the final 4am filming
the description you gave for the archer is exactly what taylor wanted i guess
its about anxiety…the beat builds up but never drops which exactly how anxiety feels
loved the video!
"oh shit phoebe bridgers... oh shit this is good" is the realest and most relatable takeaway from this video for me😅
There was so much work done in this video. Love so much your genuine reaction. That's exactly what i was looking for honest reaction. Loved the video
this is one of my favourite reaction/ranking videos i've come across, your respect, dedication and clarity are so refreshing to find on the internet. even on such a crazy timeline this was so well done and genuine, and i appreciate your open mindset coming into this video. subscribing for the way you can communicate in 4am brain mush. also we have a lot of the same favourite ts albums hehe good taste
as a swiftie since all too well 10 min version, insanely proud of your committment to this. there's so much going on in her discography and i'm glad you took the time to take a break before revisitng. loved hearing your commentary
Plus, being a fan of hers means you will be getting new content all the time, which is very nice 😆
Please watch the eras tour and post it!
I see Speak Now has one of her best albums, and “Mine” as the best Taylor Swift song made in history.
I’ve been a Swiftie since her Debut album and loved this video! I love seeing people give her a real chance and I appreciate your honesty with each song, even those you didn’t like!
Also funny to note is that Me! was the last leading single she released. The fandom ripped her for it and we have never gotten a leading single since 🫠
omg I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who ripped into that song a little bit, I was worried people were gonna come for me
i love when people give her an actual chance, even if you don't like her songs but if you're respectful and it's actually possible to have a reasonable discussion with you, that's just the best thing!
this is an incredible feat! I really liked your analysis.
thank you! I tried my best hahaha
Folklore/Evermore:
*** The Last Great American Dynasty is about the previous owner of her Rhode Ilsand Mansion. Rebekah Harkness.
*** Folklore and Evermore are sister albums. Evermore is essentially a continuation of Evermore. Evermore is one of the lowest fan rated albums, but I know I personally love Evermore much more after the Eras tour performances of the album.
Midnights-
*** The everybody is a sexy baby line has a couple of meanings.
*** You definitely were just burned out on Taylor Swift so I hope you revisit later after you recover 😂😂
- The Tortured Poets Department/The Anthology-
*** Matty Healy and Taylor has a relationship back in her 1989 era but it wasn't widely publicized.
"At dinner you took my ring off my middle finger and put it on the one people put wedding rings on- and thats the closest I've come to my Heart exploding"
"You said if the sex was half as good as the conversation pretty soon we would be pushing cradles."
Then factor that in with the line about Joe, "I'm pissed off you let me give you all that youth for free." IE- the biological clock is ticking and she feels she is running out of time to have children as 35 is considered a mature pregnancy and raises the risk of miscarriage and infant mortality and birth defects.
Also- thanks for the f*cking bloopers at the end. And tell your kitty I love them.
Evermore’s lyricism is muchh more superior than folklore, i mean we have ivy, marjorie, cowboy like me ..
omg are we fighting
@@mckennalovescontent noo😭 folklore is also the one for me i think its better than evermore but im just tryin to say evermore have those songs with really complex lyrics
I’m not gonna fault either album, I think together the lyricism is miles above everything else (no shade to everything else, I’m just saying)
the dedication of this video is insane, i have mad respect for you
This was a really really good video, it was really refreshing. I loved watching it, the hour and fifteen minutes went by surprisingly fast. Thanks for making this.
"Taylor herself isn't bad news, she only is when you hurt her"
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
No better words has ever been said
I really appreciate you and everything you did in this video, I love how you figured out some connection to different songs between different eras
Like maroon, king of my heart
Taylor LOVES to do this, and almost every song in ttpd has a reference from her older songs and that answers how she deals with what she's written about past lovers
I will say this tho,, as a midnights enjoyer, if you ever feel like it maybe visit it some other time,
But all in all i enjoyed every second of this, you gained a new subscriber 🔥🫡
songs like the archer, you're on your own kid, most of ttpd and midnights songs that you said you didn't like on the first listen will just randomly click some day and poof ur obsessed
it was so overwhelming for me to fully grasp the entire ttpd AND the anthology albums, a process that took me months, and little did i know that someone in the other corner of the globe is struggling to catch up to her entire discography at the very same moment and tbh no one can deny that you did a great job but trust me it will take you years to come to a full understanding of her entire discography and the whole lore behind it.
thank you so much for this video i enjoyed it a lot!
PLS DO A TIER RANKING TAYLOR SWIFT SONGS I’D LOVE TO SEE IT
cowboy like me is my favorite taylor song of all time, so that one hurt can't lie
Loving labyrinth is a MASSIVE W it is sooo under appreciated
I highly recommend the live acoustic performance of Dancing with Our Hands Tied from the Rep tour. I had the same issues with the production but the live performance made it my favorite song on the album.
