I feel like this is normal no one expected you to walk into an album and like every single song, some of them you love, some grow on you and some just don't (the tour and the music videos also help)
You’re not disrespecting… you’re also not wrong. This is one of the reasons I am excited for Taylor’s Version of this album. She was still contracted with Big Machine during this time and they wanted her to always be “proper, pretty and sweet”. This is the last album she made with them.
hmmm interesting point. i was worried because shellback and martin wouldn't be coming back but i didn't consider that BRM may have been holding her back on the original
Sure! I think they definitely held her back, in many aspects of her performance. This is also the first album where she used “fowl” language, though the usage was light as opposed to her newer albums. I think she touches upon it in later works, like “But Daddy, I love Him”, where she speaks to the way other people perceive her behaviors, or how they feel they have a say in her life and what she chooses for herself, at all. As a fan, I enjoy her evolution as a person and how it impacts her art and writing. She’s obviously very self aware, which might not always be a great thing, because we as listeners wouldn’t want that to hold her back, but the awareness also impacts the art. And that, more often, in her case, increases her abilities. I think that’s part of what projects her forward. The vault tracks on Reputation will be some of her best writing, as she was so alone in that moment (partly by choice). All she had were her thoughts and her feeling were intense, I imagine.
Lol honestly that song made me a fan of Taylor back in the day when I didn’t know the full drama and only knew her for 1989 pop album which was way popular in my country than her country songs

But I really appreciate that you like Dancing with our hands tied because that's my favorite from this album and also Dress (and Don't blame me which is amazing when she sings it live). I don't have the feeling that you dislike the album because you liked more songs than I thought. Reputation isn't her best work but this era has brought a lot for Taylor (and her fans) because of the Kanye and Kim situation, she reclamed her name and reputation. Her comeback was truly amazing. Maybe Reputation will be a grower for you (or not and it's not a big deal!). I'm going to bet on which songs you will like or dislike for your next TS reaction! I can't wait for you to react to Midnights, specially the 2nd song Maroon which is my favorite and I think you're gonna like it. Great reaction as always and I loved your little dances!

Swiftie here. I appreciate you're honesty and I don't think you're wrong. I like reputation but it has always felt like something wasn't 100% there with the production. When she does these songs live its a totally different experience.
I feel she has always been restricted by BMR when it comes to the language and the production she can put on the album but the tour is where she shines and everyone told her Reputation would be the most flop album and tour of her career but eventually it went on to become one of the highest grossing tour in USA
As a huge swifty i dislike how fans always recommend Rep after first time listeners enjoy an album like Folk/Ever because what makes yall think a Cowboy Like Me lover equals an End Game lover 😭😭😭😭
@@deaditeera ya me too but if you tell someone who is just listening to Taylor that they'll love rep because they love folklore you're wrong 😭😭 both are loved for different reasons and shouldn't be handled with the same expectation
love your comment on how this album could've been elevated by having experienced hip-hop producers in the industry in it! it's true and you're right to say it
Some of these songs were meant more for her shows; they really come alive then and make more sense. If you think you liked Don’t Blame Me on the record… wait until you see it on her Reputation Stadium Tour. So good. Many of her songs do sneak up on you lol
I'm a pot-smoking, beer and whiskey loving, accountant Swiftie, and 49 years old. Reputation is my favorite Talyor album. I love a strong powerful woman.
dancing with our hands tied so underrated, i personally like the album version, but the fans love the acoustic version. the flow in this song sooooo good!
SAMEE!!! tbh the studio version is objectively better and it perfectly fits the theme "dancing with our hands tied" because the genre of that song is literally electronic DANCE music 🖤
43:00 " she loves alcohol:" girl yes "I was supposed to be sent away but they forgot to come and get me I was functioning *alcoholic* till nobody notice my new aesthetic" - From TTPD album, track "fortnight"
you're totally fine! i appreciate the candid review. reputation didn't really grab me until i watched the reputation live tour. the songs definitely hit different there . not saying you'll change mind or anything but these songs live are for sure a lot better. but i loved the reactions to the songs you did like and appreciated the critique on the other ones.
If you haven’t seen the Look What You Made Me Do music video it is a MUST, probably her most insane video to date and LWYMMD was the first single from the album and this album was kind of a surprise drop, so we went from 1989, to her disappearing and the world hating her and fans were wondering if she would ever come back, to a snake video with no sound or caption, and then a post that said “First Single Out Tomorrow Night” then that Sunday she debuted the video at the VMAs.
Watching these songs live on the Reputation tour is fire! (For example, Don’t Blame Me- OMG!) Enjoy the album, you’re so lucky to just be getting into it now! Also for Endgame, the music video will help give the song more perspective and you’ll prob end up likening got!
@@AdityaJain-cc7yk I’m so happy that on her tanking video she just released of this album- she said Endgame is probably her favorite music video ever! Yes!!
To me the album cover is so on point. The choker, the bullet hole, the stitches, the tabloid headlines and the unapologetically unbothered expression! Mmmh yes! Perfect 👌🖤
Ok, finnnneeeee. I subscribed! 🤗 I'm usually not a fan of react channels bandwagoning on the fame of Taylor because it feels like it's for the views while so many Swifties for years have been fighting in the trenches about her talent! But I can tell you're genuine and taking a real interest in her art and are able to be critical/respectful when there's a song you don't like, but also praise the music that you do. I appreciate your analysis, critique, and openness to Taylor's art!
Justice for Dancing With Our Hands Tied 😭❤️ thank you for loving this song, the moment I heard it, it was an instant favourite if not my favourite song ever 🥹it gets overlooked too much ! So thank you 😭
Love your candid review. My initial impressions were the same. After watching the live Rep tour these songs hit totally different in live performance. Even the music video for End Game made me a fan of that song.
The little dance during Look What You Made Me Do is litterally me at the eras tour during that exact same song! You should watch the music video! So iconic
Taylor makes it known that she loves an old fashioned. It's a classic old school cocktail, timeless and a little glam, and I always felt like she was pushing it as sort of a signature in a way, like her signature red lip.
Midnights is the joint album. Folklore and evermeore are stoned. TTPD is narcotified. Did you know that TSwift frequents a black owned cannabis club with Questlove? They also hung out with Bun B there. Scorn that man whoever that is haha
I actually enjoyed this reaction ALOT and I’m a full blown Swiftie who gets her dopamine from people reacting to Taylor. This was genuine and honest and extremely funny. You were underwhelmed by some of them sure but that made it all the more enjoyable when one of the tracks hit you. Alot of Taylor’s later albums are no skip records so I get why this disappointed you but if you look back you’ll see you liked at least half of it so that’s still a win I think. BTW the Rep Tour Film and the Rep Eras Tour performances are absolute fire and make the album all the more enjoyable imo.
I'm so READY for the re-recording of this album bc it can still be elevated. I love this album so much. The ONLY TS albums I'm not big on are three first 2 but that's more on ME bc I'm too old to remember high school and middle school 😂
You needed to listen to this album before midnights and TTPD because she has broken up with the guy she was this in love with 6 years later. It just cuts more
I actually appreciate your understanding of production… because I have none. Haha Your take is interesting. Everyone is looking forward to her re-record and vault tracks for this album.
Lauryn, you're doing great so far. We know this is your opinion and it is your initial reaction so it's cool. Don't worry about what others will say. You do you boo. I'm a fan of Taylor and her music. I don't like every song of hers nor do I like one specific album of hers either. Everyone is different. And that's the best part. Just like how she has all these albums with different sounds that get you into different moods. It's a rainbow really lol. They're all great in their own way. And as time passes by, you might end up liking songs you didn't like on first listen. You never know. But we appreciate you for even taking the time to sit and listen to the albums. On a side note, "Look What You Made Me Do" literally said that to you. It broke your headphones 🤣.
36:54 girl, I’m falling in love with you with your honest and legit feedback! A lot of these songs when first listened to in 2017 post 1989 and her 2.5 year disappearing act, had me speechless in that I thought she had lost her mind. Then I listened to it again and fell in love with the album 💿 and still jam out to it on the regular next to folklore and evermore
I see a lot of people recommending the tour video, but I home you watch the music videos as well. Taylor is such a perfectionist and has such a clear vision for her music that every version she releases, live and studio recorded, adds depth to the music.
i love seeing you go through taylors eras, always nice to see someone go that journey!! and also yes, i love your honesty, not everyone likes the same songs as much as everyone else, and thats totally fine!! also nice to finally see someone vibing out to look what you made me do, everyone hates that song but i find it to be so fun!! looking forward to the next reactions
Don't Blame Me is phenomenal and it's absolutely incredible live 👏👏👏 and Dancing With Our Hands Tied might be one of my fave Taylor songs. Can't wait for Taylor's Version
I love that you said you felt so sexy during Look What You Made Me Do, because the song actually interpolates the 90's song I'm Too Sexy by Right Said Fred! She gave them songwriting credits on LWYMMD too. 😊
Hey Lauryn! I loved your reaction. Please don't feel like you have to like whatever other Swifties like - everyone has their own opinion, songs they love and dislike, sounds they prefer more than others, lyrics that feel closer to home. For me Reputation is a hit and miss album, but I still really like it. I'm a Folklore girlie so...
I’m so glad I came across your reactions, I love your vibe and you seem so genuine and thoughtful and fun - like it feels like we’d totally be vibing and having great conversation about the music if we were in the same room lmao I appreciate your honest reactions (and your usually correct (in my subjective opinion) takes)
Rep is a grower for a lot of people, but it’s been my favorite since first listen lol. You may like the tour! But also you had valid criticisms and it’s totally fine to not fully connect with something, even if other people love it! Thanks for giving it an honest try!
Just watching your reaction has literally brightened my day. You are so REAL and I love it. Watching you dance & not give a shit was the best thing ever. One of the best reactions I've seen. Pouring a good stiff drink before you start Reputation is the wisest move. Keep being you.
lol i feel like king of my heart is a love it or hate it song. personally, i love it, though seeing the live performance of it first may have informed that. it's just really cute
I LIVE for the fact that scrolling through comments, everyone is being so respectful-- and that is 100% because you were so respectful in your critique! To be fair, reputation SLAPS live. As a longtime Swiftie (think, calling the radio station to hear Tim McGraw by this girl named Taylor Swift kind of Swiftie) reputation took a bit for me to fully appreciate and understand as I'd drifted a bit during 1989...but live??? Oooooooooh, you will find an appreciation for the "skips" and the bops hit so fucking hard (the high note in don't blame me? goes higher live)..I'll join patreon in a heartbeat to see you see rep in all her glory
I love your reactions so much!! Every Taylor song and album has their ride or dies so don’t ever worry about being honest if you dislike something. The fun part is finding your favorites and the rest might grow on you later. Even watching the Eras Tour gave me new perspective on songs I’d heard for years. Can’t wait for your Red reaction! 🫶🏽❤
Also, I think you’re right about Taylor picking better hip hop producers for Rep. I love TTPD but I think switching up producers would’ve helped there too.
If you watch The Eras Tour Movie at any point, she performed all of some of your favorite songs in the Reputation set (Ready For It…?, Don’t Blame Me, Delicate, & LWYMMD)!
as someone who’s obsessed with album covers (also rep being my fave album cover) giving a highlight, talking bout it on your intro got me already hooked 🤧 - i have never heard/watched anyone talking about album covers
As a swiftie it feels so refreshing to see someone genuinely listening to the music and giving their takes without going on either overpraise or total disregard. We love nuance 💖 Rep is also not my favorite but the Rep act on the eras tour made it grow on me a little

This is my favorite Taylor album, but I love the way you so thoughtfully broke it down!!! I would love to see Taylor working with different producers in the future (especially hip-hop producers). I think it helps to remember that Evermore (my second favorite album) came out three years later, and she went through Lover and Folklore first. But there are some elements I see in both, like closure on Evermore. BUT your expertise and experience here (and the way you so respectfully and clearly express your thoughts) are INCREDIBLY valuable. 💖
It’s so interesting to see a reaction from someone whose music taste is so different than mine, because this is my favorite Taylor album. I go back and forth between Reputation and Midnights-and TTPD is creeping up there too. I appreciate the different perspective, even if I can’t say I agree haha
Don’t worry even I disliked this album when it first came out (because we came from the pop perfection of 1989), but rep has long since grown on me and became one of my top faves. Great honest reaction btw!
I’m not a hip hop fanatic but grew up with brothers who were and I said to them her lyrics and cadence reminds me of hip hop so I totally get what you mean about hip hop producer would kill this
Bloody loved this! I sipped my Tequila whilst watching and got tipsy with you! Side note my Mum was the most elegant, dainty and graceful lady who only drank Whiskey Sours or Old Fashion’s.
I finally meet some who loves Dancing With Our Hands Tied and that said that is her favorite song, this is my favorite song of all the time and at the moment since 2013 I’ve been stanning Taylor no other song can top her and is sitting untouchable at the top 1 of my favorites songs of all times 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love your honest opinions, never be afraid to say how you really think no matter what. There's always bitter people on the internet, but I'm sure you already know that lol. First time viewer, thanks for an authentic review.
we left the swiftie fandom in 2016/2017 during the whole reputation era but we came back during 2022 but reputation was a shocker for us. we loved it immediately but it was certain song we could relate to because of the situation of our friendships and relationship at the time. it felt like it explained everything for us in an intimate moment, we start sobbing sometimes because of these songs like folkmore (folklore + evermore). She’s just like me 😭😭😭😭 also your reaction is very sweet and it’s okay to not like songs, we don’t like certain songs.
I love your takes. Yes to her being unintentionally tone deaf sometimes, yes to diversifying producers, but carefully. Look at the magic that happened when she branched out with Aaron Dessner. And I loved when you said more drums on folklore, and YES to a rock album. She is allergic to drums and I am begging her to get live instruments in the studio. I love her and her music so much and I can't wait to see where she goes as she continues to grow.

I feel she has always been restricted by BMR when it comes to the language and the production she can put on the album but the tour is where she shines and everyone told her Reputation would be the most flop album and tour of her career but eventually it went on to become one of the highest grossing tour in USA
Those high notes in her live concert is something to behold
I’ve never seen her live but I love watching clips of how over time she can hit that note higher and higher
We are not wrong when we yell on the tour "Taylor take me to church" because that is what she does in the tour version of Reputation IDSB and DBM
@@ravinajigyasi6772she doesn't play idsb but yeah
Oh swifties BEEN asking her to serve us R&B and rock album fr
Man I dream of that Rock version of Red &/or Sparks Fly
Her ovulation songs will hit every damn time!
As a huge swifty i dislike how fans always recommend Rep after first time listeners enjoy an album like Folk/Ever because what makes yall think a Cowboy Like Me lover equals an End Game lover 😭😭😭😭
I am both a Cowboy like me and an End Game lover, and I can totally see how that's not how it works for most!
I honestly love end game and cowboy like me and ihve been stanning taylor since her og RED era
Love both of those songs but okay
@@deaditeera ya me too but if you tell someone who is just listening to Taylor that they'll love rep because they love folklore you're wrong 😭😭 both are loved for different reasons and shouldn't be handled with the same expectation
@@nonopleaseno7941 truuuee
love your comment on how this album could've been elevated by having experienced hip-hop producers in the industry in it! it's true and you're right to say it
I so wish she would do that with the re-record but I doubt she will
right
Some of these songs were meant more for her shows; they really come alive then and make more sense.
“Dancing With Our Hands Tied” is one of my favorite TS songs, I’m so glad someone else loves it 😭
ikrr its so heartwarming to see another dwoht fan its literally one of the best TS songs out there 🥺
dancing with our hands tied so underrated, i personally like the album version, but the fans love the acoustic version. the flow in this song sooooo good!
Me too I loveeee the instrumentals on the album version. The synth and electronic drum sounds were just perfect.
DWOHT is one of my fave song of TS and what actually nailed my decision to fully enter the fandom
SAMEE!!! tbh the studio version is objectively better and it perfectly fits the theme "dancing with our hands tied" because the genre of that song is literally electronic DANCE music 🖤
DWOHT was my surprise song and i must say, acoustic Taylor never misses ❤
@@camillasoares9289 thats rare! i want to experience that!
43:00 " she loves alcohol:" girl yes
"I was supposed to be sent away but they forgot to come and get me
I was functioning *alcoholic* till nobody notice my new aesthetic"
- From TTPD album, track "fortnight"
Was being a functioning alcoholic her new aesthetic or did she stop being the alcoholic because she had a new aesthetic but nobody noticed it
I love that line 😂😂
you're totally fine! i appreciate the candid review. reputation didn't really grab me until i watched the reputation live tour. the songs definitely hit different there . not saying you'll change mind or anything but these songs live are for sure a lot better. but i loved the reactions to the songs you did like and appreciated the critique on the other ones.
Same here! Totally agree
End game music video is not good at all it's one of the worst taylor music video
Mmmh yes! Perfect 👌🖤
GIRL. YOU HAVE TO REACT TO DON'T BLAME ME, READY FOR IT AND I DID SOMETHING BAD ON THE REP TOUR ITS SOOOO GOOD LIVE🙏🏻🙏🏻
This!
ALSO king of my heart live/ acoustic versions I think you'd like better ❤️
OH your reaction to Dancing With Our Hands Tied is EVERYTHING. So glad I found you!!
Side note, you skipping "when a man talks shit than I owe him nothing" did kill my soul a little. That's my favorite line! lol
I love the live mixes for reputation WAY more than the album production. (I have also been LOVING your videos- you are hilarious)
EDIT: By the way, her signature lip is Elson, by Pat McGrath. SOLD OUT of course lol
REPUTATION STADIUM TOUR IS JUST 🔥🔥🔥 AND U NEED TO SEE IT
Midnights is the joint album. Folklore and evermeore are stoned. TTPD is narcotified. Did you know that TSwift frequents a black owned cannabis club with Questlove? They also hung out with Bun B there. Scorn that man whoever that is haha
This is important background info that she needs to see lol
She loves her whiskey! And yes, she drinks old fashioned 👀
And from the vibes...yep she would totally love you
Exactly!! The guy who commented that it’s an idiot lol. She even said it on one of her song: “My friends all smell of weed or little babies”
@@r_a9066 they also tend to forget she's an adult, smh
I'm so READY for the re-recording of this album bc it can still be elevated. I love this album so much. The ONLY TS albums I'm not big on are three first 2 but that's more on ME bc I'm too old to remember high school and middle school 😂
Like I am not really too much into debut album and then Evermore and folklore but I refer to Reputation,Red,1989 way too much 😂😂
wasn't into the album and didn't even listen to it fully until i saw the live tour video - it's incredible and Don't blame me is even better
You needed to listen to this album before midnights and TTPD because she has broken up with the guy she was this in love with 6 years later. It just cuts more
I actually appreciate your understanding of production… because I have none. Haha
Your take is interesting.
You’re so respectful when it comes to your criticisms, love that about you
I think youre more of a midnights and tortured poets person
Yeah but mostly the 3am midnights tracks and the anthology not all of ttpd
we shall see
It’s actually so hard to tell, because for me folklore is my favourite and reputation is in my top 5 while evermore isn’t😅
@@lenaolishevska4070 wait that’s crazy 😭
@@lenaolishevska4070Folkore and Evermore > Reputation 😅
Man it hits different to hear New Years Day now - it’s like she knew it would eventually end and held on so tight.
Breaking your headset on the Rep album is totally appropriate!!!🫶💙🫶💙🫶💙🫶💙💙💙💙
36:54 girl, I’m falling in love with you with your honest and legit feedback! A lot of these songs when first listened to in 2017 post 1989 and her 2.5 year disappearing act, had me speechless in that I thought she had lost her mind. Then I listened to it again and fell in love with the album 💿 and still jam out to it on the regular next to folklore and evermore
This concert was 🔥 You need to see it, live. You can still stream it. 🦋✌️
I see a lot of people recommending the tour video, but I home you watch the music videos as well. Taylor is such a perfectionist and has such a clear vision for her music that every version she releases, live and studio recorded, adds depth to the music.
Girl!!!! This is one of my favorite albums from Taylor. It was so fun watching you vibe to our girl.
If you like Dress, find the video of her doing it acoustic at one of her LA shows 8/7/23. It’s 🔥
i love seeing you go through taylors eras, always nice to see someone go that journey!! and also yes, i love your honesty, not everyone likes the same songs as much as everyone else, and thats totally fine!! also nice to finally see someone vibing out to look what you made me do, everyone hates that song but i find it to be so fun!!
looking forward to the next reactions
Who hates LWYMMD that is one of the best tracks on Reputation
dancing with our hands tied is my fav from rep
mine too girl omgggg
SAME!!! i think at this point its my no.1 favorite song on Taylor's discography of all time
So underrated , she sang it tonight at Dublin show!!!
This album SLAPS live - whenever you watch The Eras Tour Movie, can’t wait for you to watch the Reputation era.
Hahaha Ed Sheeran sings “oh brother” me too
LOVE the dancing with our hands tied appreciation
Rep is a grower for a lot of people, but it’s been my favorite since first listen lol. You may like the tour! But also you had valid criticisms and it’s totally fine to not fully connect with something, even if other people love it! Thanks for giving it an honest try!
I love watching your reviews. You make the best faces and have quality comments and criticism . Also you are GORGEOUS 😍
❤❤❤
DANCING WITH OUR HANDS TIED IS THAT GIRLLL
I love your reactions so much!! Every Taylor song and album has their ride or dies so don’t ever worry about being honest if you dislike something. The fun part is finding your favorites and the rest might grow on you later. Even watching the Eras Tour gave me new perspective on songs I’d heard for years. Can’t wait for your Red reaction! 🫶🏽❤
Also, I think you’re right about Taylor picking better hip hop producers for Rep. I love TTPD but I think switching up producers would’ve helped there too.
FINALLY someone with good taste that likes dancing with our hands tied
If you watch The Eras Tour Movie at any point, she performed all of some of your favorite songs in the Reputation set (Ready For It…?, Don’t Blame Me, Delicate, & LWYMMD)!
Another “Dancing with our hands tied” stan 😍
I hated King of my Heart at first, but then I heard a acoustic version of it when she sang it live, and I loved that so much more
Why is she whispering? Why are we whispering? 😂
as someone who’s obsessed with album covers (also rep being my fave album cover) giving a highlight, talking bout it on your intro got me already hooked 🤧 - i have never heard/watched anyone talking about album covers
The thing I still find kinda funny about this album was how it seems like it's supposed to be this petty middle finger, but it's mostly love songs

omg an album with metro and Taylor would actually kill me in the best way possible
Reputation will always be my favourite Taylor Swift album I cannot wait for Taylor’s Version to be released 🎉🖤🥳
Really great objective reaction. As a long time swiftie i really respect it. :)
I’m not a hip hop fanatic but grew up with brothers who were and I said to them her lyrics and cadence reminds me of hip hop so I totally get what you mean about hip hop producer would kill this
So I already kind of have a crush on you and now I get TS reactions too!!!! Lord help me lol
Bloody loved this! I sipped my Tequila whilst watching and got tipsy with you! Side note my Mum was the most elegant, dainty and graceful lady who only drank Whiskey Sours or Old Fashion’s.
DANCING WITH OUR HANDS TIED IS MY FAVORITE SONG YES OMG IM GLAD YOU LIKED IT
I finally meet some who loves Dancing With Our Hands Tied and that said that is her favorite song, this is my favorite song of all the time and at the moment since 2013 I’ve been stanning Taylor no other song can top her and is sitting untouchable at the top 1 of my favorites songs of all times 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Reputation tour would definitely change your mind!
