Amazing guide ! I think I speak for everyone when I say that a full length ZiggyD build guide is a Christmas miracle. For everyone that has been watching since PoE beta this definitely takes us back. Praying that you tinker with some more of the skills. Another good retro one would be playing around with the old new sunder gem

In case anyone wanted an alternative link for withering touch: I’ve been running withering touch, lifetap, increased duration, and efficacy. I’m pretty sure increased duration on withering step also applies to the wither stacks applied by the skill - with a 3 second CD and near 6 second duration, you have pretty good single target uptime on max wither stacks without scaling quality super hard.

I was working on a Bleed Sadism character and while it was looking decent, this blew it out of the water. Rerolled to this and have been having a blast, the prolif is insane! I'm using Ralakesh and Olesya's with Frenzy/Affliction charges and it feels great. Still a ton of upgrades, don't even have my cluster jewels yet, but already blasting T16s!
Great build and build guide! Been also playing mamba strike and it's super fun. I'm surprised to see a claw beating out rebuke in dps, but I think it's a difference in how your version is built and your scaling is prioritized - with claws you can opt to get flat damage to boost your number whereas with rebuke you want to prioritize dot multi and faster ailments. Granted rebuke makes gearing slightly easier since it's not so hard to get one corrupted with resolute technique, freeing up some suffixes and mana res and passives that you no longer need for accuracy.
Just a note, PoB doesn't calculate the damage properly, but you can simulate it by adding your weapon damage as added damage in the config so that the "attack with damage of both weapons" is actually represented (otherwise it just takes 50% of each, which you can check in the dps calc)

After having played this build for about a week now, I must say this is one of the most fun build for me since i've started playing poe 13 years ago (jesus, didn't realize it was that long lol). The way whole screens just go poof without any visual noise just feels so good :)

I league launched Mamba on ruthless, I really loved it until maps when i had to drop dual wield for a shield and then it fell off- luckily I am using molten strike with a tincture in the meanwhile. Couldn't get a low tolerance jewel to roll just yet which I think will feel way better than just the tincture and the poison mastery. Can't wait to get a lightning coil and maybe a taste of hate before I can swap over to dual wield. Love the new gems and love the guide! Thanks for the video Ziggy

Have you noticed that with Viper Strike of the Mamba, if you stand and attack an enemy repeatedly, it only applies poison every other hit (regardless how low you get your poison duration)? I suspect this is because it checks if the current target is poisoned when the attack BEGINS -- not when the hit lands. And so, since the target will ALWAYS be poisoned when the next attack BEGINS, it poisons every other hit. I don't like it for obvious reasons, but also for a non-obvious one -- it promotes the use of a macro to SIGNIFICANTLY increase dps when attacking with it. I submitted a bug report for it (which will likely get ignored), but it's weird that no one mentions it.
nice guide, is playing Mamba strike aswell :D, but went the DEX stack route.
Hand of thought and motion x2, and split personality etc. This also makes suppress-cap easy and stun immune etc from evasion to armour conversion.
we will probably see some cool new ways to to build with the new tinctures in the future.

I dont get it, why are people dual wielding on Mamba isn't it reducing your damage? Does it function diffirent than regular viper strike?

Been thinking about trying to make this skill work in Ruthless.
Was contemplating building around this with the Enduring Suffusion affliction notable with only a life flask equipped. 975% increased damage for poison with a perfect tincture. Not sure how to make the survivability work, though. For non-Ruthless, Bino's Kitchen Knife can give prolif, freeing up class/ascendancy choice which could be interesting.

I run tight on sockets, so you can take meat shield out of the guardians blessing link and make it a 3 link.. you do have to cast it more often as the DM's die together more often due to being less tanky and not always near you(though they have never been out of range of the aura effect on my character.)
This is an absolutely awesome build guide, though I'm curious if you looked into how it would function without the tincture for next league?

I don't think I saw it mentioned, but something that we ran into when testing this gem earlier in the league was that you can't just look at attack speed versus poison duration, since the gem checks at the BEGINNING of your attack animation if the target's poisoned, instead of when the attack lands. That leads to some jank where the attack lands and you go 'but he was clearly not poisoned, what gives?'
Rebuke of the Vaal also an excellent option for Viper Strike of the Mamba.

Does it makes sense for single target to get Pneumatic Dagger and use Warlock ascendancy for Penance Mark.
Those Shackled Phantasms can spawn once per second, so 3 phantasms every second or 3 poisons stacks should be crazy
It might work occasionally with bosses that move around a bit but sadly they spawn outside of prolif range and they are ranged so they don't come over to you (and the boss). Alchemists mark is thankfully really really good in this and very consistent in comparison.
For single target, i think an automated writhing jar would increase dps massively

@@ZiggyDGaming damm, I guess, the other solution would be switching to oath breaker ascendency and get the prolif from the spawned minions from curses.
Im doing an ignite chieftain minion autobomber that uses similar mechanics , mainly the reduce duration of ailments since the main dmg is the chieftain explotions and im facing the same problems during bossing.
Cheers for the in-depth guide. Do you think going for pneumatic daggers + Primalist ascendancy could be worthwhile, or are the charms not worth it to forego the comfiness of claws + flask effect/sustain? Damage-wise I haven't seen charms that are particularly good for single poison builds apart from wither effect. The +100% poison duration one doesn't help this build very much.
You can get +20% elemental resistances or 5% chaos res per endurance charge per charm though, so that lessens pressure on gear immensely.
There is one on the forum that use the ambush support gem and goes crit with perfect agony node.
i think damage supports might work on alchemist's mark since it has the same wording as flame surge (which also doesn't let damage mods apply, while allowing supports)
I'm pretty sure they don't work (wording difference is *your* damage modifiers don't apply vs damage modifiers don't apply). It makes sense it's more like plague bearer in that it's already scaled by your initial poison damage. Enhance works to scale mark effect though!
I'm playing something like this but I was wondering if writhing jar would be good for proliferation of poisons on single target
For solo enemy bosses what about using the worm jar flask to spawn mobs that you can kill for stacking proliferation poisons?
If you destroy the enemy with the initial hit, they don't get the poison applied and thus they don't proliferate the poison. One of the reasons why Deadly Ailments support makes everything feel so much better.

Would wurm flask be good with this for bossing? For quickly stacking up poisons
Did you consider/test Olesya's delight belt? 40% more damage with ailments is pretty huge if you can work some frenzy charge gain into the build. Also some cheap tech for before you have strike implicit on gloves: Ancestral cry. Extra strike range, 2 extra targets, and lasts ages. Doesn't work with the multistrike version though sadly :(
can you use the worm flask for bossing?
I was thinking about the ring that doesn't let withering touch expire as long as the enemy is burning. Build has elem damage and with some crit it's easy to have perma ignite. Would it help to keep full wither stacks on bosses?
when u change to viper strike in POB Levelling, when do u respec out of the melee nodes between duellist..?

How is the elemental damage being applied to the poison base damage?

would penance mark work with this build? its from the Warlock tree and spawns small enemys around the cursed target

My thoughts exactly. Still on my league starter, but Poison PF is among my next things to play with. Penance Mark should be handy vs isolated targets. Just remove Mark on Hit on Alchemis's Mark for the swap.
I've got a friend that I'm going to send this one to that will hopefully get him playing something other than toxic rain.
What about going with a two hander to gain way more flat for a far more potent poison like a bleed or ignite build or does the skill gem's 'combined dual wield' damage equal or surpass that i wonder?
I'm also considering this. You'd have to use a 2h sword though. Skill only works with claws swords and dagger
Judging from PoB, it seems like it's a fair bit more damage, but you're trading off innate block from DW and losing a bit of survivability.
It also has to be something like 1400+ ele DPS which is a bit difficult.
Giga chad ziggy finally figured out a use for sadism support.
For actual single target, what about dropping Sadism as a support and getting an Ambush gem with Perfect Agony? With 20% quality, it's something like 35% base crit + 300% multi. Alchemist Mark with such a crit will be very high damage.

Hey Ziggy, Single Target Damage is kinda low when I'm playing this build. Is it really necessary to have Vaal Breach to ramp up the single target damage? Vaal Breach is expensive right now.
Single target without prolif is more gear dependant but it can also be improved dramatically by effective use of withering step and plague bearer. Vaal breach allows you to prolif in more boss fights but it's not necessary and everything but 85 ubers is solid without proliferation.
I'm wondering, since we now have one big poison, and the black flame ring, is it possible with this skill to effectively use poison and ignite at the same time?
That's a pretty fun idea! No idea how well it's work though (viper strike only has poison scaling but maybe something like the new earthquake could work for both)
@@ZiggyDGaming I was thinking of using pneumatic daggers along with Ashbark Tincture. The support gems would be the same for both aliments. And increase the damage with Ambush crit and perfect agony. The only thing is that I have no idea how to calculate all this properly in POB. And I guess your option will be better, thanks for the idea!

Example, I found not one but two Restless Wards now after buying one with 6 white sockets for convinience. But let's say I didn't ...
If I have to fuse I use the bench now, it's so much less pain and clicking. I've gone over 2000 fuse too many times now. Tainted fuse on corrupted base is pretty nice now too especially for uniques chests
How will the build do next league when we don't have All Damage Can Poison?
There are heist daggers that do a similar thing. Otherwise you go Phys / chaos with the chaos implicit heist claws - still good but not as easy and cheap to scale.
Hi! I'm playing the build and all fine so far. I am confused about Malevolence tho and its interaction with guardians blessing. If i toggle Malevolence on it lasts around 5 seconds before shutting off. I see when you fight Maven at 41mins or so it stays up. What am I missing? thanks, i'm probs being dumb lol
now watching further yours does toggle off. So use it when you can use it along with withering step and plague bearer.
Yeah, it's instant cast so you recast when you need damage. Sometimes it lasts awhile with 2 spectres because they die at different times and the aura stays active.

Writhing Jar, sadly the worms don't proliferate. GGG have had to nerf it repeatedly haha. It'd be truly busted if we could spam worms out, killing 85 uber bosses would take a minute max. 😂

I had originally planned on messing with ambush crit but didn't end up feeling it'd fit and be worth (except maybe as a way to scale with verrry high end gear).

not a big fan of sadism (so no multistrike) on that build , played it quite a bit in ssf and i consider sadism straight out a downgrade.
for several reason :
1) you just made your dot build into a pseudo hit build you have no damage uptime vs dangerous monsters (ubers/ wisped up essences etc) forcing yourself to chain attack in melee when you could just not do that.
2) you miss out on a buffed gem this league : ambush , with quality ambush you get up to 35 base crit , its insanely easy to get 100% critchance on the ambush hit and with ambush giving you 138% crit multi you can actually just take the one pointer in perfect agony and hit for 100% more damage on the ambush crit nearly , which will last for 3/4 seconds , nearly enough to have perfect uptime on ambush crit poisons.
3) pure uptime : with ambush you get to be melee for one hit every 4ish seconds and your damage is always on, with multistrike sadism everytime the boss attacks and you have to dodge or move you lose damage.
on pinnacles with ambush being a teleportation you can legit do ambush hit frostblink out when your damage has been applied and it took you maybe 0.4/0.5 seconds in melee and you're out
all in all on a practice dummy you probably get out more damage out of sadism multistrike if you get the multistrike 3rd hit on the 20% chance from pathfinder to double the dot for alchemist mark. But it really seems not worth in 99% of content (unless you're really overgeared for the content you do and have no risk in facetanking all the abilities and can one phase bosses so them moving around isnt a problem)

You could but we want to use at least a tincture and taste of hate and pathfinder gets great flask uptime anyway so it's kind of a waste. If I got one I'd sell it for other upgrades.
Maybe I am missing something big here. I am almost 40 and having a real hard time killing any type of boss. Seems weaker than any build I have done this season. Gear seems fine at this level, tree looks like your swap tree in POB. So not sure what is going on.
RIP my strategy to purchase Vaal Breach later... Price jumped 100%

I did! Everything this character has (and the 20-30div sitting in my stash rn) was earned by it. It's not as easy to.level as some other builds if you are inexperienced at leveling in the campaign though.

I am not Ziggy. but yeah. this version of it is. it is a lot weaker, but i have seen multiple people theory crafting to make it work (that seem to be onto something and know what they are doing). I am not a good build planner but managed to make it seem doable. and with unknown things in the new league there might be new ways to make it work.
According to poe ninja the meta seems to be either pathfinder with original sin and rebuke of the vaal or tricksters with ralakesh and bino's. Some pathfinder use void fangs (heist claw) to get 2M DPS so it's not dead but harder to build and not as good...
Ahhh....so that's why I'm seeing nearly everyone with rebuke of the vaal swords.
Huh... Neat alternative to my current blight of contagion build.
