  • Found the demo of MEGALOOT during Steam Next Fest and it activated my neurons hard - it's got a very clever and satisfying build creation experience with some really well thought out gear systems and stats, which for me makes a Roguelike way more interesting even if the gameplay is very simple.

Hey, I don't know if you will read this, but I wanted to ask why you decided to name the purple items "Legendary". In my head the usual color and naming convention is Epic for purple und Legendary for Gold/Yellow.

i probably wont ever play this game, not my jam, but like those stacking tooltips are the most beautiful thing ive ever seen and they need to be in literally every single game

Ive first seen this mechanic in crusader kings, a deeply overwhelming complex strategy game, and I feel in love with that. Being able to pull up an explanation of an explanation of a term just like that without having to go into some tutorial or wiki is so good

@@RomGomLP More recently, Baldur's Gate and Pathfinder games also do that!

Discovering how this game works and how well designed the gearing is was a treat - it's very clever how the different mechanics come together and the set system as well as the gameplay focus on the gearing above all else. Definitely one I'm keen to return to and one of my next fest top picks.

Thank you for explaining the game about a million times better than the game itself does ... I must admit, I tried to play the demo and found it about as intuitive to play as Aurora4X. This game desperately needs a (hidden) tutorial for the first run. Might install it again and give it another shot if the demo is still available ^^

Happy to help! I assume some sort of tutorialization is on the cards for the future - it'll need one. That said, I personally had a great time figuring it out without one.

I felt that the only thing that required intuition when first playing this game, was the equipment combination mechanic, but the visual feedback when hovering an item that is equal to another, tells a lot. It is very easy to learn how to play by simply hovering over what you don't understand. Maybe your difficulty was in actually realizing it exists.
I guess it is the one thing the game should tell you at the start. But asking for a tutorial for this game seems really silly. It definitely does not need one lmao. You can also play with the training dummy to test builds.
Overall, it is a game with its own depth but still extremely simple and easy to understand.

Did a few runs. Magic is definetly OP as of now. There are way too many wasys to compound the wisdom and evasion of certain armor peices and rings/necklaces

wow i dunno if i could get into this, i do like the dungeon crawler architype with the gear synergy being most of the game, as much as i love build crafting, ive got like 97 games of the sort, but this takes it to 11 for sure, but i do feel as tho sometimes these games shoot them selves in the foot bc not being able to like exile buffs/perks/powers etc, from the "deck" that would directly hurt certain builds.
like one towet defense style game has plenty of good upgrades that you can combine into more RNG where you dont know WHAT your about to get, but has one of the last few achivements locked behind getting a increadible amount of crit, so much so that ONLY at the start of the game are you capable of stacking that many of those cards bc as you progress and unlock, the deck is flooded with what you are NOT looking for.
another has challenges to upgrade a particular wep, but relies on the RNG to get it so many levels, as well as RNG to even aquire it in a run

dude you never explained convert and you constantly left item slots open.
after the first 3 set bonuses yo ucan still equip stuff but it just wont get the bonus. unless you know otherwise but that wouldnt make any god damn sense.
but you'd think having 8 pieces of equipment levelling up all the time would be the most efficient

Would love some text logs on what is happening - haven't played it so it might be more intuitive which turn is which (e.g. did I block or did they block?) but having the history to see what was happening does not seem bad with this kind of game.

Path of exile ruined the itemization of any rpg for me. Back when harvest was still good, being able to craft my own semi-gg gear from scratch handtailored to my build with like SO many different options was the peak of any itemization ever!

Demo was OK. But finished it successfully on 1st run. Full version not ready, yet.
Depending on what we are unlocking after each run, there may be a lot of replayability or very little. Extra characters shown in menu for unlocking look nice.
Game has very simplistic controls, which make it well compatible with Steam Deck. Comparing it to bit higher tier game like Halls of Torment, I do not expect price tag higher than $5 USD.
If it is $3.5 or less, it is instant buy for me, even if I'll have no time to play it within next 6 months.

Lol i skipped foward. Explaning everything in detail like that is unnecessary and kinda annoying tbh. If people never played the game themself they prob wont even understand most of it presented like a continuous ramble.
