Good Morning from the U.K. I find when mounting the base plate to the Router with the cantering bush is to fit the dummy bit. Loosely mount the base plate with centre bush then push the router down so that the base plate is sitting on the cone part of the dummy. Then you know it’s dead centre. Rather than trying to eye the centre. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Have you found to be any issues with accruacey with this setup? I mean when I set it up for 12 inches is that what I'm getting? Just subscribed brother. :)
Hi, thanks for the video, I got my jig long time ago, and today was the firts time I use it. Thanks to you following your instructions, now I have a question, I did my measurements same like you did, because in the manual said they are irrelevant and my jig inches are not right, one inch are a half inch with my tape measure, is your jig the same way like my,? I just measure and take the distance to my bit and cut. Thanks again.
So for the diameter of the circle ⭕️, what I do is measure 📏 from the center point to one side and put a mark , then go out side that line with the bit. So for a 15 inch circle , I would measure 7.5 inches on both sides and make sure I’m out side the edge. I have the video up in cutting bigger circles , and that shows that method. I hope that makes sense. I’ve seen the gauge be off by just a tiny bit sometimes on the jig.
Virginia Francis not yet. I’ve cut 48 inch ones with the circle jig. You just have to measure instead of using the gauge on the tool. So when you flip it around on the slide so it’s the bigger size, I just measure the board. Then put the bit on the outside of my line. So from your center point , you would want to be 24 inches off of the center point because it will cut 24 inches on both sides. So what I do is measure, make 4 different marks , and then mount the pivot pin , and test run the router around the board to make sure it’s outside the line. Then cut. I hope that makes sense. Or if your board is like 48.5 or 49 inches , just measure in and do the math. So like when I get mdf from menards , I just measure* in *1/2 on each side. Then make sure my bit is outside those marks.
aslp88 I have not cut any 1/4 inch with it yet. The screw would probably go threw or go close to going threw. But with wood filler and priming, you may never notice it.

Yeah. Just measure 6 inches both ways from your center point , and make sure the router bit is outside of that. That’s a good way to double check it

Do you usually cut the wood with the good side face down?
Kelly W Yes . The hole from the pivot pin will be in the back of the board when you are done cutting.

Have you cut 1/4in thick material? If so do you use a shorter screw or do you just have it go through both sides?
