Assembly instructions were a little unclear for a couple of items. It works great ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh though, easy to set up and use. If the instructions were better I would have given it 5 stars.
I can't say how many videos I have watched, they all have their corny way of demonstrating this device, from kids doing stupid stunts to the downright goofy stuff, I was upset I wasted my time. this is an outstanding video, thank you
Thank you for your positive feedback!
Kidz know
Just got mine from Amazon. Works flawlessly on my rigid router, thanks!
I bought this a few weeks ago and just now got to use it. Thanks for the video. Was a simple setup and get going.
Thanks for your positive feedback!
Ordered this a few days ago, used the video as a start and connected the kit to my Makita rt0700c. Everything worked like a charm, the routing was spot on and easy. Good guide and good product!
Thank you for your feedback.
I can't install my Makita RT0701C, but I can't install the Circle Guide Kit.
Help !!
Just bought this product and tested it today.
It's durable and easy to use. I'll definitely recommend this.
Thank you for your positive feedback!
Just got one today. Can't wait to try it.
Just got mine today. Works with Skil Router. Perfect circles from the first try.
Nice 👍
Got one to use it with my Milwaukee Compact Router. I had to modify the base so the screws could hold it tightly, but works flawlessly.
I have a few more Milescraft products and will buy a couple more.
Hey any chance you could explain what you did to modify the base?
Great product! Very helpful vid, thanks!
Oh my God. This video was perfect instruction for me. Thank you. Fantastic tool. Can you say Perfection!
Glad it helped!
Thanks...needed help and your video made it easy. Much appreciated.
Thanks for your feedback, Steve. Glad the video made it easier!
Very informative video. Thank you.
Thanks for the great instructions!
Glad it was helpful!
Very nice tool!
excellent video.
Thanks for your positive feedback on the video!
Thanks. Works great
Great to hear!
Pivot screw was a joke it’s not long enough and it pulled out of the plot wood which was three-quarter inches thick, but just breathing on it. Also, it did not include screws for the boss router. I had to use screws that came with my router and it is a matter of fact when you line up the holes the screw heads for the screws are too small and I had to get some washers to make them work.
This is correct! Your screws were of an obsolete dewaltish (not the best quality) style router. Terrible. Use small bolts with wider heads. Sorta like trusshead screw.
Can i make a reccomendation? I bought the circle jig and am more or less happy with it, but i would love to see some improvements on the small circlejig. Instead of using a screw as pivot i would like to see something the same as the big circlejig...And maybe make the ruler out of aluminum..i would be prepared to pay more...because the center pivot hole is getting larger when using the screw..otherwise this is a great product for the prize..
Do they make longer router bits? I had to pull the bit out as far as possible to get through 1 1/2 piece of pine. Actually a little shy of that measurement
Poor quality control on the centering turn lock bushing. Won't go in without breaking the plastic. So I can't center my plate. Thanks! I'll make my own jigs from now on.
Jezz I’m new and stupid. I bought this, and thought it worked great and was kinda impressed, however it just didn’t plunge deep enough. Now that I’m actually looking at the instructions, and this video, evidently I was supposed to remove the stock base plate. I thought it was odd that only two holes lined up, but it seemed secured enough
Glad to hear you were able to determine what the problem was.
Hi I wish to make a step on some different circular pieces of wood so would like to know if there is anything I can but to be able to do this Thanks
Definitely check your router bit distance from the pivot point (whether inside or outside), especially coming from a company calling itself “miles craft”.
Just a heads up, so you don’t wind up telling your customers their project was “miles craft” away from what they ordered. Just kidding !! It’s a good manufactured jig, like anything, you have to double check your settings, and they do tell you that, so if you foul up, it’s most often user error !
I highly recommend for the occasional circle cut. If your doing day- in day out circle cuts, you’re going to want a shop made jig. Just saying !
Will this work with a dewalt dw611 trim router?
Will my Bosch colt palm router work?
Does this work with harbor freight plug router?
Just used mine for the first time today. One minor thing is the diameter gauge is off about 3/16”. But I always test first.
My bigger question is when you finally complete the cut full depth you’ve lost your immovable anchor as it’s a free circle of wood. I guess great care as you complete?
Hi! There's a couple of things you can do:
• Use double sided wood working tape to keep the inside steady on whatever you are cutting on (something like a foam board or sacrificial wood layer so you are not cutting into their work bench/table)
• Use Milescraft Tri grips to lift the cutting piece off the surface and put multiple on the inside and outside portion of the cut. We tend to put 3 or 4 tri grips inside the circle we are cutting then 4 /6/8 more on the outside piece. They have grip and once circle is done, nothing falls or moves.
Thanks!
What is the site of the pivot screw
I lost mind in dust on the flore 😢
So using the “I” which piece is the 14 diameter? The center piece of the hole?
Will this work with all ryobi routers
Need to make a 48" Tabletop. This is the perfect jig to make it! The only problem is how do you find the center of the circle?
Find the center point on the piece of lumber you’re using and use that. For example, say you have a sheet of wood that’s 64 inches by 64 inches. You would measure from left to right and find 32 inches, make a mark. Then you would do the same process from top to bottom and make a mark at 32 inches then you can find the center point from there.
Does this work with. DeWalt compact router
Hello! Great video!
Does it fit to Bosch GOF 130?
Thanks!
It absolutely does yes. I'm using it with one as I'm typing this message 🙂
Question for anyone with this kit. I found that the thickness of the mounting kit required me to buy longer router bits, anyone having same issue. Or is there something I,m doing wrong
Don’t shove it all the way down the collet. Sorta like how we do on the Dremel.
7:57 he is running the router in the wrong direction. Lol
Amigo tudo bem, comprei um equipamento deste, você tem mais vídeos explicativos de furo pequeno? Sou do Brasil e não falo inglês
O que achou do produto, te satifez? compensa?
Can you use the circle kit with a fixed base router? I have the Ridgid R22002
Yes, this can be used with a fixed base router but most users find a plunge base easier to start the cut.
Will this fit the Milwaukee compact plunge base(48-10-5601) for M18 cordless router?
Any help will be appreciated.
Yes. But have to use factory screws and add washers to them. Don’t understand the instructions vs this video. “Slide scale to 2” to make 15” diameter hole.” lol wut?! Makes no sense!
@@hardtymz2517 Thank you so much
I feel like an idiot...I don't understand the inside vs outside measurements....can someone explain that part to me?
From what I understand, It accounts for the width of the router bit. Inner should be the desired measured diameter of, say a table. If you wanted a perfect 4 inch hole cutout for speakers or ducting, use the outer diameter measurement.
Milescraft should provide a link to this video.
Hi Tim, thank you for your comment. Can you please tell us what you mean by providing a link? This is a video that we produced, which is posted on this UA-cam channel and it is also displayed on our website.
@@milescraft I meant provide a link in the instruction manual that came with the jig. I didn't see one. I searched online for a video. The video made it completely clear on how to set it up.
will this fit a ryobi R163g router?
Yes.
This product will be good for a Bosch 1200 POF????
Yes, this is compatible with the Bosch 1200 POF.
@@milescraft brillant 💪😁
I can't install my Makita RT0701C at the Circle Guide Kit.
Help !!
The Makita RT0701C is too small to attach to the CircleGuideKit, you will need to use the Makita plunge attachment for proper installation.
@@milescraft I really appreciate your fast answer .
I bought this jig about a year ago. Now that I finally ready to start the project, it turns out that the jig is not compatible for festool OF 1400EQ
Any help will be much appreciated
A power drill will make it say it’s compatible
Bought this, and it doesn’t seem to be compatible with my makita RT0700C! Should have checked before purchasing! 🤦🏼♀️
You can still use your router. This is compatible with the plunge attachment, model 196094-2.
I just used mine for the first time to cut holes for a wine caddy. After i completed the hole, the jig wandered and ruined the hole. how do i stop that?
Milwaukee.
How long will the plastic parts last ?
Which plastic parts are you referring to?
@@milescraft 0:12 the whole upper picture. In order to have a tight connection you have to screw the knob tight.
I fear, the thread is only plastic ?
Or the element in the middle that holds the router, plastic.
This product has a 3-year warranty and all parts can be replaced. The base plate is made of tough poly-carbonate.
So there is always the hole you used for the pivot screw is that correct?
If you don't want to see the hole where your center pivot is, you can flip the workpiece over.
@@milescraft what if you are using thin material?
@@masoncampos7043 wood filler?
will this work with a palm router?
Please provide the router model number.
Should you move the router in a clockwise or anticlockwise rotation.
When you’re holding the router in hand with the bit facing downward, it will spin in a clockwise direction. To feed against the bit’s rotation then, you’ll move the router from right to left (For the outside of a circle that equates to Counter CW.
Depends on the bit if it’s up or down spiraled.
Can this cut wood as thick as 1inch?
Yes this can be used to rout 1" thick workpieces. You will need to flip the workpiece and cut from both the top and bottom.
I wish this video was more clear on the actual measuring and accurate cutting of the circles. All this detail on setting it up but not on the actual accuracy of using it! UGH
Do you need a plunge router to use this jig?
A plunge router is not required but is preferred by most users.
It's worth the accuracy and easy depth adjustment to either get a router with a plunge base or order the plunge base for your current router.
What if my router uses 1/2 in bits not 1/4.
u should change the holding collet...most routrrs have multiple sizes
You would swap the 1/2" collet for a 1/4" collet.
Milescraft I wanted to reply, is it possible for the version two of this jig, to make the ruler part out of aluminum? And would be nice if that would be sold separately...i would buy it for my current circle jig..because the center hole where the screw fits is getting wider with much use, but love the product!
How are you supposed to avoid damaging the hole edge when the cut is done? Because the center where it is screwed will be now be loose and only takes a second after that last fiber is cut to slide to an edge. Seems like you either cut all the way through and have a loose anchor for a risky second or two OR you cut all the way except the last .001" and then figure a way to pop out the center without tearing fibers.
@vashon100 - OK, I just bought mine and haven’t used it yet, but I definitely see that what you pose could be a problem. I’m just throwing this out there - would securing the center hole (the piece you’re cutting out) with double-sided tape (on the bottom - taping it to the workbench or whatever) be a possible solution? Assumedly, you’d already have the rest of the board secured somehow (e.g., with clamps), otherwise you could double-sided tape it down as well. Again, just a thought. What do you think?
@@timsawyer7443 I used a longer screw and drilled the whole piece to my workbench. Clamped the outside part of the circle down, so now nothing is moving.
how to prevent hole in middle of project
Instead of screwing down the centre pivot guide stick it down with double sided tape...you could also draw a cross hair in the centre piviot guide to help line up the center
Insert the screw on the backside of your work-piece and then simply flip the work-piece over.
@@Ridler42 Have you actually tried either of these?
@@milescraft What if my piece is only 1/8" masonite or craft chipboard?
@@johnhill8958 use the jig to cut a template out of plywood. Then double side tape that to your workpiece. Then use a flush trim router bit to cut the 1/8" to the desired template. Then separate the template from your finished piece.
Will this fit the Milwaukee M18 Cordless Router model #2723-20?
The Milwaukee #2723-20 does not mount properly to the base plate included with this kit, as it is too small.
Does it work with dewalt/ Milwaukee?
This works with several routers from DeWalt and Milwaukee. If you have a specific router model that you are interested in using, please provide the model number.
@@milescraft DW618PKB
@@cjfox5805 Yes, this is compatible.
@@milescraft thanks
Can you use a fixed base router with this? Or is a plunge Base router required? Thanks.
I'd like to know this also
@@stseflanders after using it for about 2 months to build my sub box, I can assure you that a plunge router is basically the only option. You could probably use a fixed base, but only if you started the circle of the edge of the board
I have to drill a separate hole to make room for the router bit or start at an edge. I have a fixed craftsman.
The thump, thump music is super annoying
Ikrrr
Does this fit with a ryobi cordless fix base trimmer router?
