I have a snorkel kit on mine and have also had it in water over the seat more times then I can count.... Not one water related issue yet. I have a bunch of lights and accessories and I have had the battery dead and have had no issues with that either. I am sorry to hear about all your issues but I think you got a lemon. I love mine

I had your exact same issues. Changed the fuse block and cleaned the grounding cables and has been going strong since then.

The problem is in the fuse block itself, it's not sealed in the back of the block. What happens is water and dirt gets into the back of the block which causes corrosion on the terminals of the block. Then it causes excess amperage in that same area which causes more heat to go into the terminals. Also, there is only one wire (10 gauge) for all of the power in the fuse block. The 40 amp fuse is not blowing because the amperage isn't concentrated in any single fuse, it's causing heat and melts the plastic casing of the fuse. It is NOT caused by excess current by adding accessories! However, that will bring out the failure faster. The correction I chose was overkill, but it worked! First, add three more positive lines going back to the battery or some distribution block coming from the battery. Then, clean the terminals well as well as the fuse block and reinstall them with some dielectric grease. Next, fill the entire back of the fuse block with silicone. Also, install all new fuses as all of them will be corroded. Yes, it's true that you shouldn't have to deal with that from a brand new machine, but I assure you John Deere knows about this and is taking measures to fix the problem. As far as the battery being under the seat, I have had mine in water up past the battery more times than I can count and I have not had a problem with it. I live in Pennsylvania where all trails are wet and muddy, and it's awesome here! These machines need some more work to be up to par with the others, but they are getting better every year! I love my Gator, and I am John Deere for life! Hope this helps!

Are you kidding me???? So what happens if you left the head lights on? Wouldn't that also cause a heavy charge? Thanks for the heads up.

Have one at work it's a joke. Replaced battery stator & voltage regulator. Over $1100. Piece of shit still don't work. I've found more people having problems with this model then I have anything else. I think it's funny big name like John Deere would let their name get dragged threw the mud over one shitty model. Must have figured it was cheaper letting name go threw the mud rather than make it right. I'd never buy a John Deere. No way.
