I'm a retired producer and bassist that enjoyed my peak in the 80's. Signed to MCA in 1983. Low/moderate success, being the band at prom in a shitty teen movie, medium rotation on MTV for a month and playing with lots a BIG names as the "who the fuck are these assholes?" opening slot while starving and sleeping in a van for 2 years. "I am not my body I am somebody". That is so Iggy if he were a chick. Or maybe Exene from X... LA in the 80's. I have a 25 year old daughter and that is how I raised her. All your songs project a FUCK YOU attitude but with an heartfelt positive message, simultaneously. Something more rare today than in the 80's. Not a unlikable F U either. More a clear and unmistakable point of view that lands nicely in my world, me with an uncommon for my surroundings, perspective. And age. 63 while forgetting, living and thinking like an intelligent and freethinking 19 year old. Your thoughts land with a loud and invigorating crash. But with the musicality of early Strokes and XTC without being derivative. still sounding completely natural and genuine. I would love to hear you produced by an empathetic and magical producer. So you sound like YOU... like everything I've heard by you tonight, while competing with the hyper reality of others in similar genres. Like what happened with Nirvana on Nevermind. Greenday's Dookie, Rancid etc. Not a criticism on your recordings at all but more an observation on how I think your sound could morph to a widespread and more global appeal. And if you don't want that. I love you guys either way. BTW as much as dig the vocals, bass and drums, the guitar work is a large contributing factor to that Fuck You attitude. But like a more intelligent debater making point at a party, shutting down a confident douchebag politely but not too politely, firm but with intelligence, leaving no doubt with the circle of listeners who is the one with the TRUTH and who is spinning dangerous and nonsensical bullshit. First time hearing you guys. Can you tell I like your music. And... lastly, please don't tell me you've broken up. It feels like your Sergeant Pepper is brewing in your minds and due to come out... in it's own sweet time... and in it's own unique way. I NEED to see you live. SOON. Sorry for the wordiness but it had to be said.
Saw them in a super small club in Cleveland. One of the most high energy bands I've ever seen. The band members hung out after the show to meet everyone. Super down to earth and amazing people!
Thanks KEXP,it was your original live set which got me listening to Dream Wife a while back. Saw them twice this past year, and this band deserve all the success their album and live shows represent.Tremendous work ethic, 140+ shows in one year. Hopefully see them again next year. DWFL. x
she is awesome. love how into it she is as well. there are so many to list. ill give you three. jen hingley of false advertising is amazing. jess boudreau of summer cannibals rips and sonia sturino of weakened friends.
Was trying to figure out the last time I heard guitar playing like that and realised it was Andy Summers from The Police... can't think of a higher compliment
Sounds like people are STILL listening to the Velvet Underground and Nico album and then starting their own band. But that guitar player is from another planet.
I love these KEXP podcasts as it is a great way to discover new music! These young artists do not disappoint! Great job and you have a new fan in me! One thing that bugs me though is the drummer is not considered a part of the band!!?!! As the MC5's Wayne Kramer once said" a band is as good as its drummer"!
I am late to the party because KEXP DJ Kennady Quille did not force me to watch this until now. What a fun live session and interview and what a great sound this band makes. I have got to see them play live so please return to Seattle soon or, better yet, Tacoma.
her voice is adorable. almost like bjork. alice go shreds that guitar...they have really improved since their last session. gonna buy this album on bandcamp for sure. bought album and love. such a solid album. Rakel's expression after cheryl says their live show is raw...like what?
@@domremyuk she is. that is true. ive heard songs on the new album...i must admit im a little let down...their live music sounds so much better than recorded.
lol...i actually looked for a dragon tattoo...now i get what you mean...lol..she does have that look. i love alice, she shreds..the whole band is amazing..so crushing on them.
Why is it that the like-dislike ratio is always so awful under the performances of female bands? They are amazing musicians and seem like they have a lot of fun.

Every time a band gets deserved attention, it brings tears of joy to my eyes. (=
Beautiful guitar sound.
Alice Go has to be one of the most original guitarists around at the moment. Amazing spiky sound.
I get a Fugazi vibe from her.
Alice rocks.
They need a second tour guitarists, her chops are that thicc

I’m not happy about this, but I’m in love with the lead singer. And that guitarist is burrowing her way into my heart as well.

They sound much tighter than when I first heard them on this channel a couple years ago.
They've been constantly touring since then. The just finished Europe before this performance.

Clicked for the WTF. Stayed for the TONE!
This version of Hey Heartbreaker is so good! Compared to the studio one on the album.
love her smoky voice
Ha! LOVE IT
love it!
The singer is clearly Icelandic, right? Can't hide that musical heritage! :)
Love that Burns guitar, beside many other things about this band, starting with the music itself.
As caras e bocas da vocalista são bem legais xD
Got a cool New York City Punk Rock sound.
Sound much better live than recording. Recording sounds too mass manufactured not raw like this.
Why is it that the like-dislike ratio is always so awful under the performances of female bands? They are amazing musicians and seem like they have a lot of fun.
Yeah!!)
Out of the three KEXP sessions, this is my favorite. What a nice discovery!
BTW, am I the only one who's bothered by the ground hum? 🤔😅
Cool girls)
Raw like Iggy and the Stooges. Quality. Great guitar sound.
Great!!! ___ the 21nd century B52? love it...
So it's possible that I was dancing around my kitchen like a little ball of happy energy cuz of this performance.
