The person doing the audio mix on this video should get an award. Every instrument stands out individually and her voice rings so powerfully. Great performance.
Bbc sound engineers are incredibile. If you like David Bowie, in this Bbc show (ua-cam.com/video/mp2QaLXbc2M/v-deo.html) the sound is better than the original records. I thought it was impossible!
I saw them live before a Harry Styles concert yesterday and I don’t think I’ve ever heard a woman sing as clear when live as she did, got the band a new fan
The difference in Ellie’s voice is astonishing. She sounds better than ever. The whole band sounds better than ever. The key player is a potent addition.
Ellie's voice is becoming an air raid siren, wow. I think this is easily the best live performance of Don't Delete The Kisses I've seen, and her voice is much more powerful than it was back when I saw them live in 2017.
That effects chain on her vocals is killer on this. Normally whatever they’re running dies on those choral shouts but it really sustains perfectly here.
@@IanWhelan Another thing, I've been around and talk to a handful of engineers and the entire industry has got to fucking stop insisting on recording everything on a grid, if you're making technical metal sure but the grid and command of the metronome suck the life out of a rock back
I’ve only recently started listening to them again. I only really listened to a few songs by them a few years ago, but the entire Blue Weekend album is so breathtaking that I’m planning to get tickets to see them in tour
Dont delete the kisses really reminds me of my dad and how excited he was to discover new cool music like this. I was so happy to see we both like wolf alice ♡
Actually I just discover this band and I'm stunned ! I get a feeling that reminds me about how I felt listening for the first time to The talking heads back in the late seventies. This singer is awesome in every way and she really uplift the band. The other members are fantastic too. A real revelation for me ; what a cool day this is ! :o)
I think that the person who mixes their albums, seems to allow the vocals to be drowned out by the rest of the band on all three albums. I've just got the new album on vinyl and without the lyric sheet I'd have no idea what was being sung, yet live it's a completely different matter! I just wish they'd sack them and get some one in who can mix properly!
@@andrewhaines8603 , I would agree on the first two albums, "Visions" especially - the vocals were like mud. The newest album actually sounds better to me, but maybe its just because its new. The best representation of their talent is always in their live performances.
@@andrewhaines8603 so true I’ve noticed a lot of bands have this thing where the vocals are drowned it out! evanescence is another one you can’t hear Amy‘s vocals live or on the albums most of the time, and sometimes I’ve noticed all this out-of-control distorted guitar sounds take away good drum sounds and also the bass guitar is gone from a lot of bands also
WOW. I feel like I just witnessed an already great band entering into legendary status. They are clearly having fun while blowing just about every other group out of the water. Ellie in particular is exuding a level of grace, confidence and power that scales off the charts with this performance. I know she has some ups and down dealing with the spotlight but you wouldn't know it to watch her here. This is 28 minutes of her being the most poised and captivating front person in rock right now, with a band worthy of her standing alongside. Keep that train a rollin' Wolf Alice!
@@joshknightfall That's an interesting comparison. I recall Bowie as being much more extroverted and chatty with the audience, but then again I only saw him on the Reality tour. For myself, I see more similarities here to Debbie Harry's stage presence. Ellie maintains a similarly icy distance while also weaving an engaging yet guarded form of honesty into her performance.
coming up as a teen through the 2010’s I had such a strong affinity to the alt rock scene back then. The 1975, The NBHD, Arctic Monkey’s… now nearly a decade down the line my music taste has been morphed through Nirvana and Foo Fighters, Wolf Alice are a welcome homage to my original Alt rock roots, with a tinge of punk that keeps me grounded, it’s refreshing. It’s new, but familiar at the same time. Makes me feel like I’m a new era of my life again.
Finally!!! A new fantastic Brit band.... if they can hold it together and keep on reinventing themselves with every album release they will go to the top. I heard them completely by accident and ended up buying all of their work so far. Thanks Wolf Alice for giving us hope
Seen them the first time in the Bitterzoet Amsterdam 2015. Very small venue. You could touch them. The year after they moved to the bigger venue Paradiso, the main podium. It meant they arrived in the Netherlands. One of the better festival video, I think, is their performance on Best Kept Secret ua-cam.com/video/EfWjaz7LG0Y/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Sharemania
Amazing talent, on stage and off stage. The vocal and drum performances are outstanding, keys and guitars rock solid. Also hats off to the sound engineers for perfectly capturing the band!
I love watching these guys grow up. New album is astonishingly beautiful. Being a musician past the point of trying to “make it” anymore, I love watching gifted musicians giving their art to the world. Ellie has truly found herself and I can hear it on the new album. She has shed her fear to “JUST BE” and I feel lucky to be around to witness it.
Lemme just say that the Last Man On Earth is perhaps one of the best songs performed by any Indie band in oh, literally forever. It is a set killer. Can't wait to see them perform it live!
Grew up with bands miming on Top of the Pops. Now have incredibly brave bands performing live and forever, challenging songs they must know there's a risk of missing a note (love Ellie's face when that happens). So wonderful!
When I listen to Wolf Alice I am reminded of bands from the past and present...shoegazing bands like My Bloody Valentine, Ride, and swerve driver....grunge like.Hole, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots...psychedelic beginnings of heavy metal...like Jefferson Airplane and Hawkwind...other influences are definitely PJ Harvey and maybe a bit of Patti Smith...Great stuff....
What a fantastic band! I stumbled upon them listening to The Current radio station in Minnesota. The guitar player is in the creative realm of Nels Cline, a joy to watch and hear. Great songs and they’re all world class musicians. I haven’t heard a singer like her, and she rocks on guitar! What a joy to discover them!

It took me around a week to dig into their music, but finally I dig it... These kids are trying to make art, not the type of rubbish you hear on the radio every day... I am sure that they will become huge in following years... p.s.: didn't she just censored herself while singing "Smile"... BBC guys must have been pleased about it...
First time hearing this group live. Don't Delete The Kisses is great (I hear a bit of U2 in there) and Smile really reminds me of early Smashing Pumpkins. Hearing Stevie Nicks in The Last Man on Earth too. Great set - great sound.
I just found out about this band a few days ago and I've gone down rabbit hole watching videos of their performances. What a great band! One thing that's unfortunate is that the live versions of their songs are almost always better to much better than the album versions. I guess I'll just have to download the audio of the really good live performances and compile my own Wolf Alice album.
100% what I say about them! I vaguely listened to them on Spotify, but wasn’t super wowed or anything. Then I won free tickets to one of their shows in the states 4 years ago. Saw Last Man On Earth on tv and Ellie was playing the keys, that song works way better with her on her own at the mic, she looks vulnerable without an instrument and for that song it works a treat. So love Giant Peach it’s sooooo cool. The band are awesome.
