now that's what you call magic, in his hands...nobody has that better control over pitch, volume, tone and all the musicality that you can't just nail even with expensive equipment.
Well actually both Scott Henderson and Michael Landau are pretty damn amazing at it too, but arguably not as lyrical and poetic about it as Beck who more or less started it I guess. He is a unique voice.
@@whynottalklikeapirat glad you mentioned Michael Landau. His control and playing on the live version (Wembley) Joni Mitchell’s Amelia brings to mind Jeff Beck’s style
Under normal circumstances, people appoint the title Guitar God to masters of speed/shred and that's cool but.. Jeff Beck is in command of sound itself and the air in which he plays, now THAT is godlike power! Viva Jeff Beck!
I am 60 years old and have seen almost everyone there is to see that's worth seeing, including the Beatles and every great guitarist from A to Z myself was a professional musician guitarist for 30 plus years. You have to make it your bucket list to see Jeff Beck live he is a master. He Masters every style of music he puts his hands on he is the ultimate guitarist...

@@francus7227 sure the reason people say Page is sloppy is because there were times when he was doing heroin to much and he would just go off musically somewhere in his own mind and if you watch closely Song Remains the Same you can see John Paul Jones look at John Bonham like where is he going now. Myself have seen Page about three times the last time I saw him was with the Firm and he was not playing his best I was told he was back on the heroin at that time. As Jimmy got older I would consider him a relaxed player, him staying away from the heroin was the best thing he could have done.
Watching this on cloudless cold day up hill in southeast London with daughter's four chickens exploring our garden on their first day staying with us for a week or two. Heavenly. Have to watch them due to lots of urban foxes
Seen him in Buffalo in 2011.....Every guitar player from Western NY seem to have bought a ticket that night...I looked around and they all including MYSELF sat there with mouths wide open....Just the best I ever heard him....MAGICAL !!!!!
Clapton, Page, and Hendrix are nothing compared to Jeff Beck. Not sure why he always seems to get left out of the conversation. He IS the conversation.
That’s the way Mr. Beck wanted it, he loved being a entertainer not a guitar God or rock star, the most humble musician over the last century. He’d rather work on one of his old Fords than go to a after concert party, Mr. Beck never changed who he was, to me that’s what made him different and set him apart.
There are NOT TWO of the great Jeff Beck… and there never will be ONE again! Complete "Master of Touch and Tone" on the electric guitar. RIP Jeff Beck!
very few covers of this song that come even close to Judy's but I love this version. it's Becks style but somehow. retains some aspect of the original, that pleases me. man is a master!

wonder if Jeff is a fan of Eva Cassidy, she did an awesome version of People Get Ready and her version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow is out of this world! you have to check it out if you haven't heard it
I was thinking of Eva Cassidy while watching this as well. Her version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow is absolutely spectacular. What a shame we didn't get the opportunity to have more from her.
Besides being so accomplished, and so Uncannily precise. Jeff Beck has style. And class. And taste. And he can invoke enough different tones out of his guitar to sound like a much larger band. I am looking for the keyboard player. The sax player. The other brass horns. Shit........ he's an Orchestra.. ..
Most people use the whammy bar for vibrato - Jeff beck uses it to bend up to a note and then back down. Not sure I've seen another guitarist use a whammy bar like that.
Jeff can play out of tune and it still sounds on tune and man he sure is uncopyable. At 78 his hands and fingers are still as strong like way back then.
I like information and I like learning things I found out that Julie Garlands was abused on set is what I heard or read her I really enjoy this video that's beautiful. Also read that there is asbestos on set her mother allowing that to happen to her is sick and sad. Something that happened to someone I know she didn't tell her mother that her sibling husband she had woken up one night raining next to her mother and her brother had touched her leg inappropriately and probably continuing to touch her in the middle of the night until later when she is an adult. And then years later she had forgave him they were walking on the street and talking later on he became a preacher and he gave his life to God he got off of drugs that he was doing for 40 years it was a long road for him but she was proud of him.
