Yeah, I wanted to know if you figured out how to get any greater distance. I'll be trying a few tricks once I get some time on a super clear smallmouth lake I love.
Bo Ttorff Exactly right. We have the GoPros in trolling housings attached directly to the balls. The baits are run about 4 feet behind the ball and are attached to a clip on the ball just higher than the housing. We'll be showing this and other GoPro setups during this televised season of The Fish Finders
The salmon looked as if they were having difficulty catching the business end of your set up. I think making the leader between the flasher and bait longer would help get more hook ups. Great footage! I really like the pics of what salmon do after hook up. Hate that mouth open shaking stuff they do.
There's a problem with going too long. It kills the action of the bait. The one that followed for 4+ minutes is a prime example. If you notice, it's a longer leader and the action on the fly is a lot tighter. The ticket is finding the sweet spot lengthwise for fly action. You can get away with longer leads on meat rigs because the head/herring will give the action, but there's a sweet spot with those as well.
can you make a video on how to tie the lines with the flashers? distances. types of knot, size line?? swivels where and how many?
This is a very cool video. What was captured on film here is exactly what I have pictured in my mind many times.
What was the lure one the end?
THATS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn grab the pole!
Leader line behind a dodger
How are you mounting your camera to the rigger ball?
Great video! How long approximately is the sweetspot using respectively fly and herring?

Very Cool video of the underwater action. Loved the music too, got my heart racing!
Thanks ibassindotcom - the leads were back a maximum of three feet. Any further and the camera wouldn't pick the baits or the followers up very well.
Awesome video. Do me a favor and stop the boat when you have a king chasing, I wanna see how they react on the drop :)
My son and I have always wanted to do this but have not figured out how the rig the camera to the downrigger. Would you please share that with me?
Sensational video. Congratulations stellar cast! :)
How do you get the camera underwater so steady and placed like that? Do you use a stiff rod or something or is it Attached somehow on the line?

I wonder whether you can use this set up on anchor.
Somebody tried?
I would just about come out of my skin seeing those fish just follow or turn off!
Thanks for that can't wait for next year
Another great one guys. Nice editing too!
Dave you are clueless about this fishing!!
what downrigger weight are you using to mount the camera to?
Great footage. Were the leads off the ball over a few feet?
Fantastic video. Thank you :)
Nicely done.
