Who is your 🐐 IGL?

Glaive
Glaive and Karrigan have 2 different legacies for the GOAT IGL case. For Glaive, it's the dominance that they have established for a long period of time with the same lineup for 3 consecutive majors. Most of the teams in the world have adapted to how Astralis was approaching the game and they have changed on how to play certain maps (namely Inferno and Nuke) which is the standard that we see how these maps are played today. As for Karrigan, he has proven over time that he can work with multiple lineups and bring them to the top of Counter Strike and win trophies. He has an approach to the game where he utilizes his key pieces and enables them to activate and dominate in the server. Also with their recent Major win, he has done the impossible of winning a Major title with an International roster. It's a matter of perspective on who do you think has the better legacy for being the GOAT IGL.
The caveat next to glaives claim to greatness is that it's built on a core that karrigan made
@@emiliosaavedra6628 and he hasn't replicated anything near what he did at his peek
@@iwnl_vale it's not like he has the pieces to do that though
tier 2-3 awper, washed up xyp9x and inconsistent k0nfig just isn't a recipe for success I'm afraid
@@cardoxon thats the argument for Karrigan though, its not like hes always had the best pieces in the world. Glaive took what Kerrigan built and made it into perfection, but hasnt replicated anything even remotely close. Kerrigan has consistently over a much longer period of time taken whatever he has available to him, and built greatness. Rookie players, roster shuffles, international rosters, it doesnt matter Karrigan finds a way. Theres a debate to be made for whose stratedgy is better, who is a better player but at the end or the day when it comes to being a leader of men Karrigan is clearly the best.
@@cardoxon snappi made top4 with players that are on paper wayyyy under astralis’.
No one can replace Thorin there would be role overlap
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love this
Twistzz is 2 tournaments off becoming the only player to have 2 Grand Slams
They won 3 so one more right?
@@saratchandrab4384 I don't think thr Major counts bc it was PGL not ESL
@world of bikes 4 from a specific list. They need to win a dreamhack and another IEM/ESL One tournament
@@bradleyfirby648 nah, just any two IEM/ESL events. They can win it if they win Dallas and Cologne
@@keeganbrown5156 cool! I'm gonna be at Cologne so I fucking hope that's what happens!!!
Between glaive and karrigan, it's basically 1-a and 1-b. Whoever you pick, it's a surefire pick as an IGL. Both are GOAT in their own rights. You can make sound arguments for both of them as GOAT. Where glaive has found incredible success with his original Astralis core with highest number of majors and many tier-1 trophies, Karrigan has now made 4 different sets of roster tier -1 and also won alot of tier-1 trophies with them over a huge period of time. I personally prefer karrigan as no other IGL in CSGO has managed to stay relevant in tier-1 for such a long span of time. But again, doesn't matter who do you prefer as GOAT. Both are GOAT in different ways.
Also remember that he was the one that made the foundation for Astralis before they're even called Astralis. The Nuke map pick that everybody is afraid of when they meet Astralis? It was his invention. And when Navi also decided to use it as their weapon? He broke them down right there too
Yes BOTH ARE GOATS now don't compare the timeline please
I'll edge it to karrigan when he wins his 2nd major
and
if gla1ve can't win in a couple years from now then its obvious karrigan is better
but doesn't mean gla1ve doesn't deserve a shout out
If glaive ever had success with another core maybe I'd agree.
@Er R
1. More points to karrigan since he made that core into what became the 2017 2018 monsters
2.device didn't vibe well with the team at the time since his GF lives in sweden and was living in sweden at the time. with the stress of doing covid test everytime going to the bootcamp in Copenhagen he decided to join a swedish team because
didn't wanna travel to denmark every time to practice and he had a GF in Sweden so....

From what I see, Karrigan is uniquely one of kind igl in csgo history. He is able to bring out his teammates potential and making play around them instead a fix strategy.
Niko never gets behind his IGLs. Once he begins doing that, the other players began second guessing that. I think Karrigan was turning the corner in the first Faze line up. But Niko shut that down with the “shut up” moment. Niko seems like he thinks no one can knows the game like he does, but I think he is just like shox. Uber talented but can’t see the game past his crosshair.
Too bad some fans can't see nor understand this.
That shut up moment was actually in Mouz, unless you were meaning something else
@@sunbae-nim Thought he did the same thing to Karrigan during the Boston Major. Could be mis remembering it. But either way he always seems to quit mentally on his IGLs. Doesn't seem to try and empower them and keep things professional. He seems like he always lets his ego get in the way.
Well thorin's take on G2 is quite reasonable and valid...being a G2 fan it really hurts to see them like this :(
I agree
Niko is the problem. Always has been, always will be
Average g2 fan feelings 🥲🥲
So saaad i really love g2 they have the best players but still they can’t do shit
Semmlers face whenever thorin goes off on a rant 😂
Thank you guys for introducing me to karrigans story,i got very emotional when he finally won
Karrigan cemented his legacy forever and no one can take it away!
Yup goat igl gla1ve is not comparable to getcarriedgun.
@@Chess2969 gla1ve is on the bench lmao

Holy shit thorin fucking went the fuck OFF in the end. I love every second of it. Watched it like 3x in a row 😂
ty for the continued top tier content fellas
Thorin said he would get crazy and he has definitely gone off the deep end.
"He put the goat player in the grave" dayum this episode will be fire
G2's t-sides aren't even the problem. Their t-sides were the 4th best of the legends stage.
Super poetic that both G2 Niko and Faze Karrigan went back to back against the same team in the major and Niko Lost why Karrigan was able to win. Of course the circumstances aren’t the same with Navi and their newfound struggles but the fact that Karrigan was able to get it done while Niko wasn't lowkey shows that niko was the issue and karrigan wasn't. Just a random thought not tryna make a niko was the problem meme.
I still believe if you would put this faze vs navi in stockholm, navi would win
Not true....Niko Carried them to the finals there and G2 lacked an awper while Faze didn't....Faze have a way better team than what G2 had in Stockholm....Had G2 got an awper like Broky then they had a great chance to beat Navi
One wild angle that not many seem to think about in the Niko v Karrigan storyline is the fact that as they were facing off in the Katowice finals, Niko was sitting there getting beat by not only his old leader but also the MVP of the tournament broky who IIRC was essentially unknown to all of T1 CS and it was Niko's FaZe out of all teams, the Galacticos of CSGO if you will, who picked up this random FPL star. Meaning it was Niko who initially brought broky in, not Karrigan. 2 years later, NiKo now having switched sides to G2 leaving the door open to the ousted leader karrigan to return, the random kid Niko gave a chance to ended up becoming a world class AWPer who put in a crazy MVP performance in Katowice and against G2, under the leadership of karrigan.
@@tuginwho shows how crazy good Karrigan is. Handpicked a team in mouz and brought them to the absolute top, and now not a single one of those names are notable without him. Comes back to faze and essentially unlocks broky's potential who was already pretty good and makes him the best player basically in that team. Karrigan's impact is so underrated among the cs community.
That human centipede bit from thorin in the beginning is outrageous lmao
you can't replace esports in a esports podcast
I remember when I first got into esports and especially CS. I didnt like thorin. But as I have learned about the game I see his points and some of the logic he has on things. Now i like listing to him
Karrigan proved that he it's called determination with lot of patience and hard work
Thorin went ballistic at the end, that was funny as hell
1:11:43 exactly thank you ive been waiting for someone to say that
Thorin is taking it out on podcasts about s1mple since the twitter banter
wut happned
Nice description (including yekinder)
thorin can't be replace and there's only 1
but 2 that could do it is YNK (as long as he doesn't suck niko dck) and spunj (as long as we get him on rant mode 24/7)
i still think thorin is on another level
so please keep pumping up content i turn off ad block if needed
POPFLASH is where you get brutal constructive criticism and an honest hot-take on the game.
I love you thorin. You were spot on with - jackz + yekindar.
Yeah don't know what's up with so much hate...He might be wrong on Fallen and I think he is but he just gave his opinion
@@shaolinsoccerisashittymovi7232 fallen statement was bit too harsh. Also some people just over reacted. It's just his opinion no need to flame someone who doesn't share your views/opinions.
@@Aman_W yeah
Any chance this could become a podcast as well?
I love the timestamps in the vid.
You'd still give Gla1ve the nod, because 4 majors and countless big LANs are no joke. If faze win the next major we can have a conversation. I'm a massive faze and Karrigan Stan.
Yeah but that's with the same roster lol. Current astralis are literal dogwater, at least the roster's the Karrigan have been in have all been pretty exceptional at one point with completely different players
Not so sure. He got his majors with the core that karrigan brought up
@@symbolitical4158 this is the 1st "new" line up for gla1ve and sometimes they don't mesh instead of karrigan winning another mayor i would give gla1ve more time with this lineup (making changes) to see if he can bring it up, if he can't bring another lineup to top contender then that's when the conversation starts
@@emiliosaavedra6628 to that point, Astralis with Karrigan on it was still really fucking good. Also, they only really started winning once they brought in a sports psychologist. Zonic was also a huge part of the success Astralis had. He kept the spirits up and helped produce a lot of their strat book. You can see that now more than ever because Astralis's strats are very flat and cant even get the job done when a player drops 40 in regulation.
Not saying glaive isnt a great IGL, just that astralis had a lot more going for it then just glaive.
karrigan trophie cabinet is already mental and he's legacy is already mental
just 2 majors would make him on par with gla1ve
but let's put another challenge here
gla1ve has to win a couple of tournaments post astralis core which will cement his legacy and make him keep up with karrigan if not with karrigan win streak currently gla1ve will be down a peg
Thorin rocking yekindar’s haircut
When will we more of these episodes ?
btw where ate james bardolph nd ddk. i was expecting them at the major?
Can anyone tell me why team spirit wasn't sanctioned as they are Russian as well?
i think because their Headquarter is in Serbia, so not a "Real Russian Company". that's my guess
It was not about teams being Russian - it was about teams having ties to the Russian government / oligarchs. Team Spirit was clear of both.
Strong consideration for him being a GOAT, for sure. I still gravitate towards Glaive, but if Karigan can manage a second major it's gonna be 50/50.
And if Karrigan will manage a major with a different line up (I doubt Glaive got that in him), it will be 70/30 in his favour for me.
Does Yekindar fit in terms of as a rifler replacing electronic? I always thought they were completely different, although I've not watched much VP since 2017.
@UCencMwdLuKgIhFLcs9d1WBw its who they are buying it from, Virtus Pro. A Russian org.
Thorin unhinged is some of the most entertaining content
Lmao this ending was wild, i love thorin so much
in theory yekindar can replace jakie in g2 (love jackie but it seems like a G2 move)
also in theory s1mple or zywoo can replace m0nesy
@@dinisgoncalves3744 ? Xd
Did anything they say in this podcast actually stick in your head or did it just go in one ear and out the other?
been wondering why there is not another one of this
Great finish XD
i feel like ifG2 don't win or perform well in IEM dallas, or the event after that, they'll replace jackz and/or aleksi, its hard to remove jackz because his role is ahrd to find other players fit that role, yekindar instead of jackz, maybe but what if G2 brought in amanek? he's pretty good but don't know if he fits any of the roles G2 need
Bringing amanek feels like downgrade. If -Jackie boy then only for player of calibre like yekindar
yekindar for niko doesnt even seem like a bad option if hunter was down
for some reason seeing richard in a red shirt really weirds me out. still looking forward to the podcast tho.
+Yekindar -NiKo would actually fix G2. Renewed contract means you can sell NiKo for big bucks to be someone else's problem.
But that would take MEGA balls from carlos... I think they're just gonna keep cycling the IGL and support player forever until carlos says fuck it and just gives up. I HOPE it doesn't happen but it probably will.
hunter‘s not playing without niko i think
@@peterenis3507 He might be talked into it if the team on the server is better for it. I'm not so sure he would automatically bench himself like people would think but I get you.
They just extended nikos and hunters contracts lol
@@Nerdywr He extended player contracts in League as well before selling players, because he gains nothing if they leave during free agency period. Also stupid to not extend if the replacement piece you are thinking of isn't signed yet (and not even certain when that could happen compared to league offseason being a set timeperiod as well).
thorin goin off on niko geeez dw we all feel the same
so happy for karrigan. deserved
How about Yekindar for Niko?
Edit: Yekindar can be a Star player without Niko's attitude!!
Yekindar needs more consistency
That was what Thorin was hinting at the end and I unfortunately agree with him.
like thorin said if niko is the problem this would be the move i feel, if hunter was alright with it i truly believes he can do what ever niko cld nd better
Excellent analysis as always. I have learned that now FaZe are the best, and the rest absolutely suck. Congratulations, I'm enlightened now!
I think faze did a good job of giving simple not the chances to have high impact
would be nightmare to have thorin as coach
If NaVi do break up. NaVi and Astralis are going to be 2 great dynasty teams that got fucked by circumstances way way wayyy out of their control
Astralis tho was already slowing down in 2020,who knows what would happen if they got 1 more shot at major, but we will never know( I assume they prolly could lose to navi in final at best)
@@samuelbelko6469 this i'm not quite sure
during the RMR for ESL Rio, they absolutely buttfucked anyone who came against them.
The finals vs G2 they made them look so bad it was like they were speedrunning this shit. Ever since glaive and xyp took their breaks (which was understandable because all of the TOs started having fucked schedules just because players were playing from their homes and didn't have to travel), the team hasn't been the same
@faze_zywoo_fan yea a dynasty that wasn't meant to be
Probably didn't come out clearly
@faze_zywoo_fan im sure you didnt see what they were doing to teams last year. They literally were sleeping through series like nothing and winning. just food for thought if that russia/ukraine shit didnt happen, who knows what would happen
is it heroic hopium to think Device might ever join Heroic?
oooh, never thought about this at all, but a good point indeed.
However who will he replace?
CadiaN? then who will be the IGL?
or if he replaces Refrezsh then how will both cadian nd device fit in together?
@@bhargavsaikia2132 cadian rifles i guess. Here is the thing though from what I have seen cadiaN is top 5 fastest current awpers, he has insane fast twitch muscle (much like jackzz) which doesn't affect him despite of age, so I do not think it would be too much of an upgrade, but it might take the load off cadian from handling 2 major roles.
Straight fucking fire ending holy shit
Glaive had THE BEST team in counter when they were at the top, you had dupreeh, magisk and device able to solo rounds and xyp able to clutch anything, but the second they lost device they sucked. Karrigan has made a lot of different teams works with various talents some top tier and some not so much.
Because you guys give participation trophies for Karrigan and nitpick Glave success.
Karrigan never won major before this one.
That "he brought them to" does not mean shit. He choked against C9 with super stacked team (Niko, Rain, Olof, Guardian), on Astralis he had Device, Dupreeh, Xypex, Cajun B, on Mousesportz he had Ropz, Frozen, Woxic, and now he has Broky, Twist, Rain and Ropz at his prime. You guys are speaking like he brought them from mud on to the Major finals, he was literaly a laughing stock just last year while Olof was there and Faze was getting wrecked by anybody remotly serious and they brought Twist, then Broky, then Ropz and just after they bought Ropz they became great.
If Glave brigs Valde and Device back he will be top 3 again too, now he just has shit team.
Cant tell of its moses or semmler
I love thorin. Pure savage
I agree with the g2 take
Hahaha, Thorin's hate bait at the end, so gooood.
AleksiB is my favorite IGL as he has like the weirdest but new tactics that maybe could change the meta in the game to come in future. He just has to work out how it plays out on his players and whats best for them example if you like play Money the same anticts as Simple plays like aggressive but composed maybe they come together, Niko play like Ropz but my team still got to be NaVi. Nice show guys, keep it up. We love you here from South Africa
Aleksib callts t side omegalul
He also has to work out how to shoot people. If that is enabled by better strats = less brain power on thinking, then fine. But right now he is a liability to the team. He can't win a 1 on 1 to save his career. His aim is completely off. So whatever is making him shit the bed, it needs to be fixed.
Karrigan did it. He was putting up all the numbers he had to on faze. He was a god against navi. 32 years old. I haven't seen that from aleksi. Not once.
this episode was mega
Make one about Cologne
Can someone tell me why electronic leaving is being discussed?
Boombl4 and perfecto are also Russians right?
Navi don’t want people who pay Russian taxes in their org going forward. Electronic will most likely not relocate as he has family ties there + pro Russian government wife, whereas perfecto already lives in Kyiv and can sever ties to Russia. Boombl4 situation is more unknown.

A counterpoints with karrigan after the major would be fuckin fire!! Who the fuck tries to exploit the goat like that on long on inferno. He was making them constatly rotate on the t side and when S1mple tried to make the info play , Faze picked him off/ where ready for his plah time and time again. I think they went to A more times than B and destroyed the deadliest trio on the A site. B1t was struggeling in the first half , he came alive the second half but that t side was a blueprint to how you neutralize the goat
One more major and karrigan is undoubtedly the goat. 4 majors is just too much to beat
honestly if hunter was for it +1 i want yekindar for niko
Glaive and karrigan are like pep and klopp.
If Gla1ve is goat because he has 4 majors with mostly the same lineup then Pronax is Goat 2 for having 3 🤣🤣
It's not just the majors that gla1ve gets credit for bro, he reinvented the meta with utility usage and even defined how certain maps are played till now (namely nuke and inferno)
Garbage argument is garbage... Can you even listen to the BS you spew?

G2 replacing Nexa for alexiB was a fat mistake. Even on OG AlexiB wasnt performing. Not really surprise the team got worse when Nexa was replaced.
Exactly. ALEKSIb is literally the most overrated IGL/player ever. His strats have never been good and outside of one fluke ence run he basically achieved nothing significant as an IGL. Also his fragging ability and mechanical skills are just downright underwhelming
@@Nerdywr let's be real... That ence run was not because of AlexiB calling
Funny how NAVI didnt pick Ancient vs FaZe. Nuke was really a weird pick, I mean even Mirage would have made more sense.
Kind of hard to pick mirage when it was faze's first ban yes?
@@nicolainilsen5101 Even D2 would have been better than Nuke....
I don't blame them for picking it as they beat both Heroic and ENCE on it. They were probably unprepared for team with 5 players who were very hungry for a Major.

Thorins schizoranting is like the Alex Jones of esports.
I mean, i rly love Karrigan but Gla1ve has gone 4/4 in major finals..
I'm helping
Shoutout to Wales, the best worst country. Love the shirt Rich.
it seems like Thorin severly misunderstands what people do and do not care about. people dont actually give a shit if business people evade sanctions . they do get annoyed when you challenge the status quo. principles are not in scope
I think Gla1ve is still hard to argue against number 1 historically, but Karrigan is easily the best IGL right now and second best overall
Thorin and spunj the only ones that say it as it is..
Karrigan is the goat
Dude imagine if the Russian players split up from Navi, you have blade, bit and simple. That’s it maybe yelindar but who else could fill those spots in the cis region?
I enjoy RL and Thorin’s takes on CS and most of the time I agree with them. But I will never understand the hate they have for Furia, they’re a consistent top 5-8 team in the world and they always gloss over them like they’re barely staying alive in tier 1
Bro… they got dogged by spirit… I think there going downhill. People have been able to read their style now. They need to change their setups.
Furia constantly do this where a new player change or something will make them a bit more of a contender for a while since nobody knows the new guy as much, but because the general playstyle of Art and the rest doesn’t change, the other teams pick up on them very quickly and just antistrat them to shit and the cycle repeats. Instead of changing the playstyle or making a deeper strat book, they swap players which may be a short term solution, but will never be a long term solution if nothing actually changes within the core of the team
I agree with the navi move but if not the only other team worth going to is vitality to replace misutaaa for yekindar. G2 has too many issues that people dont talk about
Yekindar is latvian i thought lol
EG drop Brehze and Stewie to get Yekindar and JKS to make NA great again
Spirit are lanners
Congrats to karrigan and co for winning the major. But hats to NAVI too for making it to the grand final, pretty epic to make 2 major grand finals in a row. Arguably this still is NAVI era, they dominated last year and now even reached the grand final of a major, second in a row. I bet NAVI will win trophies this year. Faze vs NAVI rivalry is just beginning, I hope its gonna be a good one....
I think G2 are at a crossroads
To stick with Niko hunter and kick aleksi B
Or kick them and get yekindar plus another guy ( Valde or JKS) that way you can build a team with decent peices and structure.
Niko and Hunter just signed new deals.
nice
G2 is the old faze clan.
I am the biggest FaZe fan, but its hard to call karrigan the goat right now considering he only has 1 major. gla1ve is still the goat in my book because gla1ve has had his own era for a prolonged period of time where people were studying them and they had to reinvent the meta and be innovative to stay being the best.
It isn’t hard at all in my eyes. Karrigan should be the gold standard of IGL. He’s brought multiple lineups to the top, and to winning trophies. Not to mention all but one being international lineups, communicating outside of each player’s own native languages. Which is almost unprecedented outside of Karrigan lead teams. That literally shows how great of a leader he is. No one has done that or even come close. It seems he can lead whoever you give him to good results.
Gla1ve is great in a different, also unprecedented way, but it reflects less on his ability as a complete leader opposed to Karrigan imo. Gla1ve did wonderfully, with an already established top tier team, that ironically had been lead by Karrigan before hand. Astralis and Gla1ve’s real greatness in my opinion comes from the innovation in utility use they brought about. The only real issue with Gla1ve’s legacy is that he has done exactly nothing away from that Astralis core. He still has plenty time to change that though.
I think at this point there is a clear argument for either as the greatest IGL of all time.
He hasn't had his own era yet, he hasn't innovated the meta and nor does he have 4 majors majors + gla1ve has more S-tier trophies. As much as I'd like to agree, I just cannot.
@@siddharthrathod6249 both are different and goated in their own way. Glaive will definitely go down as one of the best IGLs ever because Astralis were virtually invincible during their era. However, it is to be noted that Glaive got a pre-made team with all of the pieces in places and the team chemistry was already very good (all-danish roster). Karrigan, on the other hand, didn't have that liberty and despite that, he managed to make teams achieve greatness and bought out the true potential of the players that he had. Plus, look at the state of the game now. Astralis have lost their glory and are struggling right now. Karrigan, on the other hand, has adapted and is probably the best IGL currently. Glaive doesn't hold a candle to him with the current cutthroat competition
@@siddharthrathod6249 You obviously value certain things more than I do (and vice versa), and that’s okay. We are both allowed to have our own opinions. Everything you mentioned reflects more on the Astralis team as a whole rather than specifically Gla1ve’s leadership. Where as what I mentioned are all pure reflections of Karrigan’s leadership. Given, it’s a lot easier to see Karrigan’s impact on all of his teams because he’s done the same thing on all of his teams. It’s harder to know what Gla1ve is directly responsible for in my opinion, because he’s only achieved anything with one team, and one set of players, who were already making semifinals consistently before Gla1ve arrived.
It’s the same as S1mple for me. There are more decorated players than S1mple without question, but he’s still proven that he is the most skilled player of all time.
If faze win the second major and everything till then, then kariggan cements himself as the GOAT
Navi would be stupid to break this roster up. They came one series short of back-to-back Majors, just get back to the drawing board and put in more work.
There’s things going on behind the scenes.
You should read a newspaper every once in a while.
