Another great review Mark! I love how you go over the pros, cons, and your opinions and make sure to distinguish what's opinion from what's simple fact. It makes it a lot easier to look at something I may be interested in without having to go through the pain of trying to find a buddy who already has one that I can borrow for my own test, or buying one and then finding out that your review showed it probably wasn't the best buy for me! Can't wait to see the actual burn test!

I bought the camelwill after you reviewed it. It's a great pot. It costs around 11 or 12 pound in england. Thanks for the info. All the best. Chris

I have the solo lite & the campfire both with pots. Expensive... Yes but they will last me for the rest of my life. I put the solo lite w/ pot in my saddlebags when out trail riding & camping.

Lixada instability? Depending on the 'softness' of the ground underneath, the holes at the bottom of the stove lend themselves well to three (cheap and light) aluminium tent stakes (or make your own) being used the 'anchor' the base in place. Just thinking 🤔.
Up to now .. price-wise .. no contest!

I have the tower stove/Camelwil combo and love it! Like you, the Camilwil is my go to pot! I am using a new (to me) canned fuel called Biofuel from Greenscapes and haven't tested it yet but am thinking I can use part of the tower stove for that too! Thanks to your great reviews I have a good cook set combo! It will be interesting to see Part 2, thanks for sharing Mark!

@@MarkYoungBushcraft Hi Mark. Ordered it from Amazon. ca. It is a bit more pricey than the canned gel fuels but safer and better for the environment. It says one can gives you I think 5-7 hrs burn time versus the other canned fuels which gives approx. 2.5 hrs I think. When I priced it out there wasn't a huge difference but still more. I don't mind the extra cost for the other benefits. I have boiled water with it using another stove and actually fried eggs as well and it performed great. The cans have a wick inside and are refillable. The bottled fuel can also be purchased on Amazon. I used it during the power outage after Dorian and there were no smelly fumes.
Cost benefit analysis is very helpful! L••king forward to performance test. Cheers

I bought the Lixada tower stove based on your review, and it does drop perfectly into my camelwil.
I’m quite content with the camelwil, and you might like to know that a large gas cartridge (woods iso-butane from CTC) fits in the kettle as well.

I would love to own a bush buddy but it is hard to justify buying one when I already own the Solo. Stay tuned for the burn test
Also depends on whether you want American made vs. Chinese made. Some people are extremely adamant against buying Chinese and insist on American "quality" - which is usually code speak for nationalism/racism.
@@Roarmeister2 the solo is also made in China. It’s also not 180$.
@@Saltfly Bush Buddys are made in Alaska (Used to be in the Yukon). $100 US. Now tack on the exchange rate, taxes, duty and now you are talking about nearly $180 CDN. Since Mark is in Canada that's the only information that's relevant. I wasn't referring to the bastard Solo stoves (who stole the design from BB).

A Very good comparison. My Lixada Tower came with a take apart cross piece hob for a pot to set on which makes it even more functional when using a smaller diameter cup (GSI) or pot. The Hob's "saw tooth" surface also makes for less sliding of slick pots. On a off note: will the Lixada fit in the Camelwil better with a pot bag of thinner material or just using a handkerchief -- Mine does.
Just to add to the confusion I noticed that Amazon (US) lists two models of this stove which show different sizes, a type 1 and a type 2. I don't know if links are allowed but here is the name of the listing. "Lixada Camping Stove,Portable Stainless Steel Lightweight Wood Stove Outdoor Cooking Picnic Camping Burner". Sorry if my comments above are irrelevant.
I failed to show the pot stand as I did in my other review video. I find I use it with the large Camelwil pot so I don't carry them. Good point on ditching the stuff sack. I don't mind the less than perfect fit as I carry them both in another stuff sack
Not at all irrelevant. I mention the two sizes in my other review video. I bought this size specifically to fit the Camelwil pot. It is the smaller of the two versions. Thanks for the comment

The first Bushbuddy prototype was a simple conical stove based on an old Gypsy design used by wandering tinsmiths to heat their soldering iron. This first design worked very well but had the problem of charring the ground under it.

@@mrwes100 Fritz also worked with Ryan Jordan of Backpacking Light to create the 0.04", 0.06", 0.08" thick versions of the BB before settling on the 0.06" as standard. Years later Solo did a BLATANT RIPOFF of the Bush Buddy because Fritz never filed for a patent (could not afford to defend it from his cabin in the Yukon). Solo then filed their own patent for the stolen design. You think the Chinese are ripoff artists, well the American Solo owner is a total a******. Never buy any Solo stove as you would be supporting a thief. I've got one of the early 0.06" models because of Ryan's evaluation of the 0.04" version. I think I paid around $80 CDN for it.
Fritz stopped making them but a friend of his in Alaska took over the manufacturing and sales.
On the solo, do you find the spout w/lid vents well?

But yes, in all fairness. A good friend had an issue with a spot-weld on a solo. He bought it from Massdrop (which cuts corners by reducing warranty to nothing), they refused to help. Then he contacted solo and they sent him a replacement across the globe. Wouldn't happen with your average Aliexpress order, I guess.
Everyone has to decide by themselves if service is worth the extra dollar for them...

Good on Solo. Customer service is all important to me when I buy and expensive item as well
