Good info! Years ago I had fish breeding in my tank. Eventually, as generations passed, they became very inbred and started having deformities. Some developed clamped fins too, despite the rest of the tank inhabitants being perfectly healthy. (So, I separated the males into a different tank to halt any more breeding).

I didn't know clamped fins were associated with ich. I feel better, as I'm currently 5 days into treatment of ich and wondering why her fins were clamped. I don't see any more spots, but she still rubs like she's itchy. The ich meds say to treat for a week minimum, so I'll continue to treat until she looks fully healthy, hopefully I can put the snail back in with her soon.
This is very helpful. I bought a ballon molly from PetSmart and it was less then 2 months old and it dieded. It had clamped fins when I bought so I think I know why it died☹️

My fish has clamped fins cause of the store I bought it at the tank with the fish had multiple dead ones, and the tank was very crowded at the store

hey, so my fish has had clamped fins for some time and i thought it's cause he has fin rot (white tipped fins)-and i've been doing medications for him. But just today he's made a bubble nest which every article im seeing says "im happy". Could someone help me in this dilemma?

I lost two cichlids because of clamped fins because the heater was displaying false ‘ON’ light but it had just stopped working. Till the time I could figure that out I had lost couple of them.

Hi i need your help bad please i lost a Rescue fish that i could of saved it was my first time ever owning a tank and got him out of the blow he was in and got him and to it 1.6 but did not know the part were you leave your tank running and use test kits to see if your at the best water omgyoash 🙈 i cried so hard and only had him for a week he was red.

Please don't be mad when i say i went out and got a glow fish the regular ones not the glow bettas because they were all dead there at Petco and not looking good! I am mad about what they did to the beeta but i am going back to get me one and a bigger tank and ill set it up For the cycle!

I am going shopping tmooorw for prime because i use api stress coat api zmth and fish food and i do water changes! But the only way ill know is to do a test kit!
But- please tell me if i am doing this wrong i put all in at same time and i even put the api Beneficial bacteria inside the filter also!
And the tank i like to use a little more then they say on bottle but i have my tank i don't care if i have to take all my water out again i have to move my tank to a different room anyways so i have to re start the process over

Omgyoash i called Petco and they said just use fish to make your tank Cycle she said that's the only way i said no !! On UA-cam they say there is a fish fishless cycle
Anyways i got the test strips api! Now ill get prime and start over maybe! Why does Petco say things like that!

The main reason why your fish might look more sad is probably because you changed more than 25% of your fish tank's water. Fish who experiance extreme water changes might get a shock and in some cases result death. So next time only change 25% or 1/4 of the water in your tank.
