- Well we just can`t get away from the cosy feelings of Autumn and something that is very much of the season for us is the beautiful acorn. So we decided to try our hand at crafting with these glorious shiny seeds! Come with us for a calming make-along!
f you would like to see us finding some of the things we use pop over to our other channel "Mudlarking With Kit + Caboodlers" - / @mudlarkingwithkitcabo...
Acorns were a mainstay food source for Native American tribes in California. There should be a lot of history of it on the internet. It take an enormous amount of effort to become edible. The trees were owned by particular family groups and inherited down the generations.
I remember learning how to make Native American acorn much in 4th grade. Um - very bitter, but amazing.
Yes! For anyone interested in the subject, I cannot recommend highly enough the book Tending the Wild: Native American Knowledge and the Management of California’s Natural Resources by M Kat Anderson. Covers indigenous use of oak trees and other plants over a span of at least 10,000 years.

Today is my Birthday. I am 74yrs old.
That was a very nice idea. An acorn tea set with bowls.Weebles wobble but they don't fall down.
🎉🎉happy birthday 🎉🎉😊
A very happy birthday to you!
Happy happy birthday my lovely...🎉
A very Happy Birthday
Happy belated birthday!🎂🥳
Wow! This is one of the most enjoyable episodes ive seen, though i have watched and liked all the other workshop episodes. Keep up the great work mum and daughter! 😁👍 Sorry, but i sont have any acorn emojis. Keep up the entertaining work!
Yet another totally amazing video. There is no end of your immagination what you can do. You are so talented!
You could also pick one of the small not fullt ripened acorns on a stem, as in the beginning of the video..that will make a smokingpipe for froggy. Greetings from Sweden🇸🇪
Such a cute idea 💡
Wonderful idea❤😂🎉
We have weebles in America.,acorns also great for wreath, mouse house and so on.I did things with natural stuff when i was young ,and I missed it.Great Job Girls.
We have over 90 oak varieties in the US that account for all the different types of acorns. In the UK, there are 4 native varieties, so you'll see all the different acorns too. You can identify the oaks by the acorns! Love your tea set!
I was wondering if you have heard of Becorns? They are characters made by an artist who showcases a beautiful connection to nature. I Believe you'd both enjoy the adorable adventures he has them embark upon.
I was thinking the same! Glad you mentioned it. David Bird is the artist.
Living in the midst of a dense woods, I’m fortunate to have made several such acorn tea sets and over the years, they found their way to little ones as “gifts from the forest fairies!” I love using the acorn caps as sweet hats for little dolls as well.
Your videos are all so lovely, peaceful, charming and inspiring! Thank you! ❤ Kathleen, USA
I wonder if the fae would enjoy using the tea set with spices they'd like. Check it a few days later to see if they used it ? Both your works are sensational. Love the minis. 🪶🧚🌠✌️🌾🫶🐝
I remember doing this by myself during recess in primaryschool. We had a lovely giant oak tree on the schoolgrounds. I would collect the nicest acorns and assemble them into little dishes and teapots in class. I got into trouble for it and was made fun of though. I was the youngest in the class because I was put up two classes. So the "older" kids already had me on their radar as weird. I couldn't stop though. I built a little fairy house and hid it there too. It was smashed to bits. It still gives me a hollow feeling. But I sure loved that beautiful oak tree❤
Your creativity went unnoticed, so disappointing for a small gal. Teachers see more today and celebrate students like you.
I guessed the theme for the clock before you showed the book and I am really excited! I used to have plates on the wall of my bedroom with little scenes of the creatures in their houses as a child. They were Royal Doulton plates and i think there was one for each season.
In the US there are lots of different types of oaks: pin, white, Northern red, Southern red, bur, blue, and more and more. There have been two hurricanes that have wreaked havoc: Helene hit Florida and then traveled to North Carolina hitting Louisiana, Georgia, Tennesee, and then North Carolina. NC was hit terribly hard- then Milton hit Florida. Horrible
I Love this. I had made you an acorn basket, but had no address to send it. I am in Oklahoma, and just gathered more acorns for crafting. I Love them so!❤😂🎉 I continue to be entertained by you ladies and your family as I now watch you on YOU TUBE here in the States. I kept telling my husband I wanted to watch you on TV. POOF! MY dream has come true. Thanks
Fantastic transformation. Enjoyed this so much, makes me want to gather and create! USA, Idaho in the panhandle area.
Yes, we have the weebles that wobble and don't fall down here in America
Yes, Weebles were in America. My girls, had them as children. Loved them.
My daughters had them too! Fun memories.
What a delightful film!!! And early enough for me to watch here in France before heading to bed... I'll certainly have sweet dreams now! Thank you, ladies! good night, k
This is so stinking cute, I can't even handle it!
I am madly in love with the acorn tea set! I love acorns! Ours in Texas are just starting to fall! I have always wanted to do acorn crafts. You two are such creative team! Can’t wait to see what is next! I look up bugs and little critters for my grandkids a lot. They are always telling their mom to take a picture of it and send it to Kitty (my grandma name) so she can find out what it is! ❤ Thank you both for sharing your joy with us!
When I was a kid we gathered the acorn caps and glued pretty rocks in them, then added string to make necklaces to share with friends!!❤❤❤
My sisters and I made tea sets like that when we were kids! We’d make the bottoms flat, modify the surfaces of some things, etc. by rubbing them on the sidewalk. A coarser bit of sidewalk (or sandpaper) makes sanding go faster, so saucers and plates don’t take long to make flat, nor bowl and cup bottoms. 🙂
We had both red oaks and white oaks in our yard, so we had two kinds of acorns too.
If you sand the outside of the cap, you get yet another texture, like suede. You can burnish the caps as well, to get something like snakeskin. 🙂
Yes, we had weebles. 😁
Utterly delightful!!!! I have huge Chinquapin Oak tree in my yard. It drops lots of acorns and they are huge! I will try to save some for you if the dogs haven't chewed them all.
I love the tea party set up with your frog and pumpkin lady, starting at 25:34. It looks like it belongs in a children's storybook! It's adorable!
I'll have to send you some of my acorns. I love them and can't walk past some without picking them up. The one you had with a hole in it would make a smashing dolls house bird box. Love the tea set if you modpodge it it should bring the colour back but they will fade with time.
Kate if you begin by picking a leaf that's been really eaten at by bugs, your curtain idea might work. Make them be a tapered ended shape, like a leaf; and maybe put another leaf, of a contrasting colour, behind. Unless you wanted the light coming through, the other colour behind would give the depth you often see on a patchwork skirt or something.
Some pressed leaves and flower petals could be used as doilies.
The top of an Acorn known as the Cupule the bottom that incase the nut meat inside is surrounded by 2 fatty 🌱
The sugar reminds me of raw sugar or brown 🤎 sugar 😋 yum 😍🍂🌳
🗽🇺🇲🦅
Burr oak acorns have lots of bristles. Red oak and white oak are different lengths. Great idea and lots of fun to watch and admire the results. The acorn that didn't grow would make a lovely pot lid.
Acorns make excellent ink!!! (and dye fabric a beautiful color)
The brown powder could easily pass for turbinado sugar. A natural sugar with the molasses left in. Kinda like brown sugar, only not damp and packable, it's dry and sprinkles like table sugar.
That would be great for a mock baking event in the doll house! Reminds me of the classic Beatirx Potter story, "The Tale Of Two Mice (a favorite of mine)."😊 Alcould be used to make ink for teeny ink wells (black walnut is better, though). The acorn powder could also be used to sprinkle on glue around mini terracotta flower pots.
Fleur and Kate, I would love to see you two re-create scenes from her books for stop motion films and narrate them!❤❤❤
It’s beautiful 🥰 thank you for sharing ❤
The acorn teaset looks amazing 🎉😅
A little tip for getting the extra dust off the sandpaper, if you want to keep it... I use a brush. I have one I use specifically for such a thing, but I'd imagine any small brush will do. Mine is rather coarse, originally a brush used for inking, but I think a paintbrush or something would work just fine for dusting it into a pot or something.
I LOVE , love, love everything about this!!!!
Adorable acorn tea set, you surpass yourselves with each new make. I am one of the lucky Floridians, I just got a LOT of rain and a yard full of broken limbs. My heart also hurts for all affected by Helene and/or Milton. They were both devastating storms.
acorns such wonders. Delightful tea set, ingenuity wins again. You all never cease to amaze me.
When you two laugh together it makes me smile. Donna northern Michigan
What a brilliant idea I love them so much ♥️ 👍🏻 Now you need to make acorn people and a table with chairs out of oak. The acorn people could have tea ☕️ at the table. This is incredible both of you did such a fine job. I’m grateful and privileged to watch you craft different kinds of art. Thank you ladies ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
What a sweet little tea set. Well done! 🫖
So creative and I love your scarf.
🥰Thank you both for bringing calm and beauty to my life. ❤💯 The acorns and the ways you carved and sanded, painted then varnished are beautiful.🌱
Absolutely loved this project, you ladies are creative GENIUSES! Thank you so much for sharing your delightful videos 🕊️💖😊
Your tea set is cute. Now you need a tray to set it on. Make it out of a peace of log by cutting it thin
Great design and craft work Kate with those beautiful acorns. Love your idea to use the wood filings as a dye for the tablecloth, inspired. Nice artwork on the tea set Fleur
Acorns are simply beautiful. They make my soul happy.🍂🍁
That’s a beautiful tea set, can’t wait to see it in place. Take care and prayers to Florida 🙏🙏🙏❤️
The two of you have the most creative imagination. I mean professional abilities! A dream day would be shadowing you both. Love, love your channels! Thank you for the videos as it is often the only bright part of my day. ❤ I believe nothing is better than the sweet giggles of a wholesome mother and daughter. 😊
I was so excited to see the acorn have its own show. I live in Colorado which is right smack in the middle of the USA. Acorns have been every place I’ve lived. My sister and brother have both made acorn flour which makes the best muffins EVER.. You just have to get rid of the tannin first. It’s a bit of a long process but they are nutty delish!
Your Acorn tea set is so very Cute❤it tugs at my heart, might be a fairy 🧚♀️ or two around helping Thanks much 🙋♀️🌻🐸
Those are so adorable.. I just love them 💗 you 2 are very talented 🥰
I love your creativity. Yes we had weables many years ago. Love and prayers from Austin Texas USA

Oh this this Acorn Tea set is incredible, you ladies are incredible and I love what you are doing. As always you made my day…thanks a lot for this🙏🙋🏼♀️waiting for the next update
I really like your creativity. Look at those tiny mushrooms! What beautiful colors on the moth. GOD is outstandingly marvelous.
Another beautiful creation. Thank you for sharing so we can enjoy it too.❤😊
Well done ladies!!!
I absolutely love the tea set! When you said that you were going to paint the tea kettle, I thought you were going to paint the whole body a solid color, and I was thinking, "No"! I was so glad to see that you meant to paint only a little decoration on it. I think it has such a beautiful natural color.
ever tried doing something with rose hips?
Yes, we had the Weebles (spelling?) In America. I didn't know you had them there. I was saying the "Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down" along with you. Hahaha.
This is the most relaxing, wonderful video that I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you.
Omg that's so incredibly awesome
Inspired
Oh I love it so much!! The whole tea set is just so beautiful and adorable and amazing all at the same time. 😍
Thanks again for your concern and comments about Florida. It’s greatly appreciated. I was able to get gas (petrol) today, so that was a happy thing. The local grocery stores have run out of bread, milk, and eggs but they do have plenty of water. I was able to find what I needed at another grocery store farther inland. My daughter lives in Sarasota and she’s still without electricity or running water. It’s going to take quite awhile for us to have availability to the basics I think. Thank you for your videos, they always bring such joy. 😊😘
Thank you for the thoughts for Florida and all the other places affected by the Hurricanes in the USA. You guys rock. Loved this project!
You are good for the soul. Thank you. Much love
Wonderful looking teapot 😊. You two are brilliant ❤❤❤😊
Oh so sweet 😊😊😊😊love them ladies you have inspired me to craft these with my 7 yr.old granddaughter she will love it .
I love to use acorn tops as whistles each one has its own unique sound. You put your thumbs side by side while gripping the top between, spread your thumbs a bit apart and blow down as you would with a pop/soda bottle and you will get your sound. Works best with a dry acorn tops. 🙂🐈⬛🐈💖🌈
The tea set is awesome, you are both very artistic ladies.
Just a sweet and lovely idea💕💕💕 love your creativity it speaks to my inner child 💕💕💕So well done ladies🍂🍂🍁🍁🍁
What a joy that tea set is ❤
I love your frog he is amazing
Beautiful. Could be awesome as Christmas tree ornaments. 💕
Adorable! Frog is dashing! Great job ❤
This was just gorgeous! I'm so intrigued for next week's film. I would just call that moth at the end an oak moth. Another of your films to watch over and over again, just like the room in a tree hole.
So relaxing and so needed during this stressful election season here in the States. Thank you.
How absolutely adorable..❤ I will see acorns in a different way now, i will pick some up we have big oak trees close by...❤❤❤ look forward to next week..
So happy you uploaded this
I am in awe of your creativity! The tea set is darling!
Well done! 😊
omg here in New Zealand we are heading into Summer, considering i live on a busy road there are some very old Oak Trees in the cemetries around my neighbourhood, I am so looking forward to Autum now!!!! So i no longer have to pretend they are PIpes (smoking Pipes), when Autum comes around i will be found on the street corner under an oak tree lol.
One was a white oak, and the other a red oak.
Delightful tea set. I enjoyed listening and watching while embroidering a Christmas gift. How blessed you are to live where there are beautiful trees and wonderful acorns. God bless all who make these videos possible.
Wow ladys thats so cool looking x
Oh ladies this is the sweetest thing ever, it’s beautiful, tfs x Julie
The tea set is charming. I can’t wait for next week’s video. Love your scarf!
That tea set is adorable and you fashioned the jug, sugar bowl and tea caddy so beautifully. Am looking forward to (& intrigued by) the next project 👍🥰
I love the tea set so much, it is beautiful and amazing 💕
I just spied the Edith holden book!!
Sooo adorable 🥰🤩🥰🤩🥰
These are so Adorable🤗💕💕💕💕
A wonderful respite from US news- thank you for the message. Our son was lucky to have just minor damage to his new home there. I enjoy collecting acorns and have made some bowls from some in Oregon, about 5 hours from our home in Washington state. Now I will be looking at the horse chestnuts next door to see if they have viable use. (Edit- I don't think the chestnuts will work)
Thank you so much for this! eally enjoyed how the acorn tea set came out!
Totally a B-Corn accessory! By the way, that granny square scarf can be shipped to...😄
lovely really beautiful. I have always had a thing about oaks and acorns
I have been lucky enough to have found a tree that has giant acorns, my mother says its a special kind but each acorn y like a small egg and the bottom y luke a big dollshouse wooden bowl, I have collected quite a few of them to do something for christmas.
This is such a beautiful video. Thank you very much.🍁🍂🎃
What a talent you have😊 beautiful ❤️
