    I understand why raptors are cool but I miss small useable single cab trucks. It's disappointing the truck market is basically SUVs with 6' beds

    • @Shorty15c4007
      @Shorty15c4007 8 місяців тому +66

      Yeah its difficult to build a small truck with how much safety standards the US has. They need to design a bunch of crumple zones, reinforce the roof, add a bunch of tech that the market expects in the new truck, etc. You'll have to go out of the country like Mexico to see small new cars. But you probably don't want to think about what their safety standards are, lol.
      If I'm honest, most of the enthusiasts who say they'll buy X car if they made it can't afford a new car in the first place. If no one buys it, company doesn't make money. Most of the people online are all talk and no action.

      have the same year XLT, coyote, hard to beat and once the warranty is gone there isn't a lot of BS to replace at ridiculous prices, for instance, models with perimeter cameras, radar and lane sensing? in the rear that's all mounted in the tail lamps, just one lamp housing and lense is $1800, if you need modules it's another $800 each and there are THREE!!!! I grew up old school and let my eyeballs do my lane sensing all that, don't need no module prone to failure to do my driving for me.. NO THANKS, altho mine isn't base model it doesn't have all the steering BS and all that, no prone to failure 10 speed, 6 speed is fine, this thing can pull a TRAIN in 4 lo! you can do some ECM work so forth to pull 450hp/425t out if reliably, and that's plenty for off roading and pulling loads, 15,000 with upgraded shocks ... all it really needs is an air adjustable ride in the back when you have full loads, even tho she doesn't sag a whole lot just like to have it just to elevate going over some bumps and steep drives, railroad tracks whatever anything abruptly high I could just add some air and not grind the lowboy .. for 5th wheel its ridiculous, a workhorse.. best trucks on the market now the body is all aluminum.. that weight reduction can get me 24 freeway if I go speed limit and drive easy.. not too shabby for a big truck .. this 10 mpg raptor? where would I drive it? it would be offroad only for hunting or something? meh, a heated cab side by side for $13k would work much much better for hunting.. its a trophy truck, period

    You're absolutely correct about the maverick. I had a 2016 Taurus SHO pushing about 400whp and was starting to have typical 3.5 ecoboost issues. I was looking at mavericks but they're all used still asking for MSRP or made to order 3-5+ months out. I winded up trading it in and got a jetta GLI because the 40mpg was so tempting while still being peppy and fun. I would have gone for a maverick if they were available and/or a little more affordable, I did look at a lot of them. Ford just dropping the ball like usual.

      Several drawbacks for me with the TRX was the full time 4WD, the lack of aftermarket options, and the fact the you can’t tune the Hellcat engine to run on 87 octane. We take our Raptor places where your tank can get stretched thin, and in Mexico you never know what type of quality fuel you are getting. It’s a great truck for sure, but the for me the V6 Raptor with extra money in my bank account was the better option.

    To be fair, the ecoboost is actually a really reliable and tough engine. I see them all the time with 150-200k as long as people change their oil they last as long as any other engine with few issues. The 6.7 powerstroke is also a great engine, its now been out for 12 years and its major reliability issue was the upper oil pan and front cover gaskets, which has been revised. 6.7s easily last 300k.

Here in GB I would happily drive a big truck but thats where the biggest difference lies. If American drivers had to pay the crazy prices and taxes we do on vehicles and fuel, these amazing trucks and their huge engines would die out. In the last year we have been paying as much as $8.64 per gallon equivalent for petrol and higher for diesel, and at the moment it is sitting around $6.50 for unleaded.
    We are being forced down the EV route, despite the disgusting price and inefficiencies of EVs and the majority of car users cannot afford them and most do not want them.
