The ABC tandem pump and the dynamic seat system pump. The AMG models use the hydraulic rather than the airmatic suspension. Together it was about $5k. 600a x 12v = 7200w -> about 10hp give or take. That more or less agrees with a typical portable generator hp, depending on the efficiency. That's nuts.
I bet the belt is wider because of the high power alternator. So other accessories like the water pump might be the same but with a swapped pulley for the wider belt. So if your pulley doesn't break on one of those components you might be able to get a standard s class part and swap pullies.

Can we talk about the airmatic warning message (2:05)-and how it features an icon of the car, even though it's in super low res, that faithfully reproduces the hood ornament??
lol, all i gotta say is you got a GOOD deal deal on some of these parts. Maybe mercedes is making more of these parts but last time we quoted an alternator for a maybach 57 it was approx $20,000 and the last COMAND unit we quoted ended up coming in at $40,000.....which is quite ridiculous to say the least. I've been "fortunate" enough to get to work on/drive a few 57's and just being in the car is an experience.

This episode was ludicrously funny. Between Hoovie communicating via intercom while chauffeuring Wizard in a half million dollar limo, to the two of them rolling around on creepers and then the Wizard leaping in front of the Ferrari to pay the bill, this is like a season 5-6 of a sitcom where the characters keep getting incrementally more zany.
For a long time my key consideration in selecting vehicles is not whether I can afford to buy a car, but can I afford to OWN the car. If not for us subscribers, I doubt Hoovie could afford to own many of the cars Hoovie buys.
Probably could rebuild that alternator. They used to do that in every small town. They would replace the parts, rewrap the windings, replace the bearings, and give it a good cleaning.
I got to drive an series 1 E-Type with chassis number 19, and my goodness.... once you are in, it is just such a great place to be, and the stainless exhaust..... wow.....
I flipped my XKR finally for a decent amount compared to what I paid for/put into it, so I just have my older XK8 with a procharged Ford 4.6l 32 dohc v8. Probably the most reliable Jaguar I've owned at this point, although my XJS with the inline 6 was pretty solid all around. I traded that for a Mercedes 380 SEC V8 coupe that has been a fun project. It's extremely far from perfect so I'm tempted to put together a widebody for it like some others have done.
You could take the brakes off of a similar model year regular s class, shocks dont have to be proprietary, you can find similar ones and may need to change the bolting, the only thing that may truly cost this much is anything to do with electrical.

I had a Hydraulic Jack failure but it was very slow so you didn’t notice until it was too late. Fortunately, my Jack stand back up stopped the car from lowering on my brother. I also toss a one foot wide steel rim under the car as redundancy. Takes 15 seconds.

Ñice looking car Hoovie. To me it looks nicer than the mean looking new Rolls. Kids and luxury cars don't mix. I remember selling my Daimler sovereign in the 70's because I could not stand what my 3 daughters were doing to it in the rear. The old E Type straight 6 engine on the bench is tall because it is a long stroke. This motor in its time was very fast but could cruise at high speeds for 24 hours at low revs. I love this motor and the modern version AJ16 would be good enough for me in the Maybach. So many modern cars are over engineered but the luxury cars are even worse and most of it is for status. By the way I would only put this car up on a four post. The weight balance of such a long car could be a big problem on a two post. Lift it only 6" and try to tip it before you lift it further.

Dang, I've got a 320 amp alternator in my Mercedes to power all my car audio equipment. So a 600a one is insane!
Imagine the horsepower drag needed to power that!
600a x 12v = 7200w -> about 10hp give or take. That more or less agrees with a typical portable generator hp, depending on the efficiency.
That's nuts.
@@danl6634 That also explains why the auxiliary belt needs to be so wide !
And here I thought going from a paltry stock 70A on my Defender to a 130A from a Discovery was a big jump 🤣
600, I - I can't even comprehend such a huge number pertaining to a fercrissakes ALTERNATOR. That's a alternator on steroids.
Hey Wizard, from one Veteran to another Happy Veteran's s Day brother. Great channels the both of you have, thank you and keep'em coming.
Why dont you go to his channel and leave your love notes there?
Wizard have his own channel? Will check it out
I bet the belt is wider because of the high power alternator. So other accessories like the water pump might be the same but with a swapped pulley for the wider belt. So if your pulley doesn't break on one of those components you might be able to get a standard s class part and swap pullies.
You know it is going to be the special alternator, this is Hoovie.
uniformed clown
Hey Hoovie, just wondering how the Maybach compares to the Phantom of the same era since you owned both of them now.
That V12 sound is AMAZING
I like the sound of a v12 starting. It sounds like an engine with no compression that isn't going to start, and all of a sudden or roars to life!
Sounds almost like a motorcycle. Beautiful!
Sound like a wild animal
oh hey thats my favourite mechanic magic mikes boss in the back of the maybach ,such a cool dude,if anyone idled up to a closed roller door and sat on a horn at my work the mechanics there would loose their cool and start complaining but not MM, hes just so happy to see a potential customer ,just the perfect employee ,10/10 for service
"The most expensive car you can buy, is a cheap German car." Now the wizard can get something really nice 😆
the wizard does not like Das auto!
I'm exception to the rule then
To be fair...a regular W220/W222 is quite affordable if well maintained.
If you're expecting a cheap Maybach you got obviously no clue about german engineering
Just on the 456 - I ran a 456M GT for a few years, with stock exhausts, and always felt it was quiet. Then one day on a Club run we went belting up a few hills in pursuit of single-figure MPG and when we stopped the chap behind (in a 612) commented on the awesome soundtrack. So I think it's mostly cabin insulation...? Thanks for your channel - came here from Freddie's, and Cartrek. 👍
Welcome back hooptie king,
it was long due but you finally arrived
I’m so blown away with some of the cars you’ve shown. Thanks for sharing all these interesting rides.
Never go under a vehicle without a JACKSTAND
Yes this made me cringe.... I can't believe a professional mechanic would trust their life with a hydraulic jack :/
@@morganfreeman5171 I was shocked to see Wizard doing this.
I thought they would at least put it up on a set of ramps or stands.
It's done ALL the time. No biggie. That's a Daytona Jack. Snap On knock off. Built like a tank. I have two.
@@243wayne1 made by snap on ? I know they have blu point is Daytona another one of their brands ?
@@charlie1832 No Daytona is from Harbor fright. Before you scream made by china crab Daytona jack is actually made in the same factory as snap-on jacks. So basically it is a snap-on. Snap on tried sue HF but failed. It’s a really interesting story look them up if you are curious
well, an alternator can be repaired , and with a bit of diy you can save on half those costs... command unit can be also switched out...
The Wizard is always really funny on Hoovies' videos! As a Brit, thank you Wizard for your service.
Love the 456! Wizard needs a bigger lift for the Maybach and the bus/rv. What a barge. Love this content on it.
I’d do it and keep it in the garage .. like you said it’s still ahead of or at it’s current time with features. Definitely a unique vehicle
I knew when I saw the first Hoovies Garage video on this Maybach 62 that this ultra luxury automobile would be very expensive to maintain and repair. The depreciated price for the vehicle was very good, which helps compensate for the expensive repair and maintenance costs.
Thank you for your service Wizard.
This is one of my favorite cars. Every since I delivered one overnight to the Mercedes dealership in Dallas from three states away ( I never stopped to eat or sleep so fearful was I that something would happen to them) They had a 57 on the carpeted sales floor. Absolutely stunning. I'd still love to own one today.
Crazy to think that’s over $800k in todays money from the 2004 msrp lol
When I bought a used 2004 Cadillac SRX, I FELL IN LOVE with it, especially the sunroof, but parts and labor, 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
a bearing replacement in an alternator, any alternator, is a relatively simple and inexpensive job. i wouldn't be worried, unless i was planning on taking it to a mercedes service center. now, THAT would worry me. :)
Have you seen the water cooled one?
@@daleolson3506 haha....no i haven't. but i suppose one could design it such that the bearings are neigh impossible to replace.
I worked at a glass laminating shop that made windows like that roof for aircraft. The film is around a hundred bucks a square foot.. The specialty glass is close to the film price so materials alone are verrrrrrry expensive.
You're an excellent steward of remarkable machines, Tyler!
David is probably able to send his kids though school just off Hoovie income?
Not to mention his UA-cam revenue
I just fixed my mb alternator for a 100$ REGULATOR, and the Regulator is what goes bad , it’s the BRUSHES!
Dude spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on cars and makes much more through his content creation but can't even get his kid the 2 cup holder Graco seat? Damn.
Gotta love the Car Wizard in the back of the Maybach moaning!!! Happy Veterans Day & thank you for your service Mr Wizard!!! 👍👍
Cool guy...chaufering the mechanic in a ride like is a once in a lifetime experience.
@ 14:50 "Beefy differencial." It's a 550 hp Maybach, Mercedes built those things like tanks. They cost so much for reasons, one of which was them being built to never break down, mid trip.
Happy Veterans Day to the Car Wizard.. you made me laugh when you said I have no problem taking your money! That's hilarious. Enjoy this day that recognizes your service to our country!
Is there a hyphen anywhere in sycophant?
The partition and the curtains make this car so awesome!
It is not a house, it is a grocery getter.
One can not miss a Hoovie video. 😺 ❤
I've wanted to do electrochromatic tint for a long time. It's still crazy expensive. I wonder how much it was in 2004.
Hi from Denmark.I love your videos.
Please do an über episode with the Maybach. I think that could be fun.
Can we talk about the airmatic warning message (2:05)-and how it features an icon of the car, even though it's in super low res, that faithfully reproduces the hood ornament??
Kudos for flying a drone through the rear door openings 😂😂
lol, all i gotta say is you got a GOOD deal deal on some of these parts.
This is crazy awesome! Can't believe this is 18 years old.
Omg the Clarkson 600 Grosser bit was awesome!! A true top gear fan!
I'm 20 seconds in this video and it's already weird. Love Wizard 😂😂😂
When hoovie and car wizard get together and make a random videos on, unscripted, it's so much fun to watch very humorous, shout out to the car wizard such a beautiful character fun and down to earth god bless him, I like it when hoovie and car wizard get together. I just want to see he's face when you bring more BMW'S. Bless both of you!!!!!.
Never considered that, I work at Rolls-Royce and we have massive ramps to lift cars. They're all big cars so you kind of get used to the size of them.
The price of the alternator is the price of my car lmao
For a long time my key consideration in selecting vehicles is not whether I can afford to buy a car, but can I afford to OWN the car. If not for us subscribers, I doubt Hoovie could afford to own many of the cars Hoovie buys.
He can afford it alright. That UA-cam money’s coming in clutch for him.
Wizard: "we just need the extra 6 inches". Don't we all
Then Hoovie goes for a crotch shot of the Wizard...
Probably could rebuild that alternator. They used to do that in every small town. They would replace the parts, rewrap the windings, replace the bearings, and give it a good cleaning.
Wish we knew the history of this car. I bet the previous owner was an interesting person!
Hoovie talks about that in the first video. Some sort of business owner in Houston if I remember correctly.
I got to drive an series 1 E-Type with chassis number 19, and my goodness.... once you are in, it is just such a great place to be, and the stainless exhaust..... wow.....
I bet the wiring skematics for that car are very user friendly 😎
Volumes 1-23......
be interesting to go over the rear cabin with a black light, you never know what went on in there with those blind's closed,
You can hear the fear in Tyler’s voice during the inspection 😂😂😂
Well yeah they both went under a car with no jack stands…..
I used to work on them when I was at the dealership and didn’t get paid enough! They were pretty reliable though!
I bet it would look so much better with the updated wheels on it.
I bet there was a procedure for jacking, like either air-system to LOW or even depressurize!
I love the new Maybach 62. Best car in the fleet
It's extremely far from perfect so I'm tempted to put together a widebody for it like some others have done.
another great video from Hoovie. keep it up
You could take the brakes off of a similar model year regular s class, shocks dont have to be proprietary, you can find similar ones and may need to change the bolting, the only thing that may truly cost this much is anything to do with electrical.
Almost 20 years later and this car is still EPIC!
Epic depreciated piece of junk that looks like a Hearst.
Sorry to hear about Jay Leno fire injury. In burn center. Working on a steam car.
I think a great video would be to do a couple Uber drive with this thing and get riders reactions.
Maybe ten years ago when UA-cam was new and exciting. That is about as exciting as watching a cat follow a laster pointer beam across the wall. Been there.. done that.
Uber actually wouldn’t allow you to drive with this car, it’s far too old.
Uber us only cars less than 10 years old
Thank you wiz biz for your service. Veterans make the country!!!!!!
Fixing a 2004 maybach is a terrible decision
Not if you can afford it
I had a Hydraulic Jack failure but it was very slow so you didn’t notice until it was too late. Fortunately, my Jack stand back up stopped the car from lowering on my brother. I also toss a one foot wide steel rim under the car as redundancy. Takes 15 seconds.

I couldn't afford this car if you gave it to me.
My brother had a S600 V12 when I was 15. I drove it 3 hours to Myrtle Beach and could barely keep it under 100 mph. The power was unavoidable. It coasted at like 60, I swear.
I will forever be indebted to you, you’ve changed my whole life, I’ll continue to preach about your name for the world to hear. You’ve saved me from a huge financial debt with just little investment, thank you so much Mr Abbreu John

@ 10:48 The valve cover gaskets, and exhaust manifold gaskets are EASY repairs, learn to do them yourself!
Can you imagine using this as an Uber car?
I was. Then I thought about the fuel prices eating all the fee and then some.
You would have to charge three or four digits just to pay for the gas.
Too old, Uber wouldn’t allow it unfortunately.
Replacing the alternator bearing on a specialist, would think be cheaper than getting the orginal
Great video. you've remind me of what someone once said❤❤️ Making money is an Action, keeping money is behavior, Growing money is Knowledge. I once attended seminar and ever since then i been waxing strong financially, and i most tell you the truth..
With inflation running at a four-decade high, a recession is now the most likely outcome of the economy. How can i grow my portfolio to outpace inflation and maintain a successful long-term strategy. I have been reading of investors making about $250k in the current crashing market, i need ideas on how to achieve similar profits
The market is volatile at this time , hence i will suggest you get yourself a financial-advisor that can provide you with entry and exit points on the share/ETF you focus on.
I'm a living testimony of expert Nicholas Carmen Alise 💯 she's really a gööd brøker and a mother too with good heart😁
