  • Tube Bending Basics Part 2 covers the measuring and bending of 3 different types of common bending: Flat (2D) plane bending, Offset (3D) bending, and Bending within a Boundary (such as Nerf Bars). Each type of bending is demnstrated using the "cheater bending" method.

A small bendable piece of wire helps with visualizing which way the bends need to go on the offsets

+gsppuffer This is a tip I wish I would have remembered to add. I can see offsets in my head, but I would have liked to have added this bit of info. Hopefully it will get to the top comments for others to see.

I don’t do a ton of tube bending, maybe once a year or so. So every time I have a project, I come back to these videos. They’re so helpful, clear, and articulate. Been watching your videos for a number of years and all I can say is that I really appreciate how much you’ve helped me and so many others because I’m not sure I’d know where to start without your teachings.

I know this series of "beginner" videos are 6 years old now but I have been watching them preparing for my first big project and man what a great help they were. My first bend after making all of my cheaters was a rectangular bumper. Made the 4 bends and the ends lined up perfectly. I know its nothing but made me feel confident going into the more complicated bends I was going to do. Thanks!

you need to tack weld a little peg on the bender post to hang that crescent wrench on! lol Wish these videos had been around about 5 years ago, when I had to bend all this SS tubing for a specialty fire protection system. Had never bent tubing prior to that, and your explanations would have saved a lot of miss-bent tubing!! Nice video, great explanations!!!

Funny story - I did have a peg on the bender stand for a little bit, but I was always running around looking for the wrench when it was hanging on the peg. I ended up losing so much time looking for it because I kept forgetting that I hung it up on the peg.
