  • We were privileged to be able to speak with the son-in-law of Angel Delgadillo, Mauricio Perez. He was kind enough to give us the story of how his father-in-law persuaded the state of Arizona, to designate Route 66 as an historic highway, thereby bringing back tourism to the towns that were left behind by the building of Interstate 40.

    Being able to hear the history of how route 66 was able to survive just makes the trip that much more special. That is some amazing history.

      According to his son-in-law, he is. He's 94, and still rides a bike.
