  • If you're a thrifter you've battled the dreaded piling on clothes. Can a $12 sweater shaver save a pre-loved garment, or are you better off using a standard razor for lint removal?
In this video I compared the performance of the most popular sweater shaver on Amazon, the Conair Fabric Shaver and a Gillette woman's razor to see which tool removed piling, lint and wear on second-hand clothes I am reselling on Poshmark and Mercari.
I tested both methods on a heavily piled sweater, a dress, and a pair of workout leggings.
Let me know in the comments if you agree with my final thoughts. Do you use anything to remove piling from the clothes you are selling online?
Be sure to share your other poshmark and mercari tips and tricks, selling hacks with me in the comments below!

I would not use such a nice razor. That one has the little skin moisturizer strips. A plain blade may do better on fabric.

I also empty where the blades are too.. over the blade, the cover on mine screws off for blade cleaning and replacing.

Sweater shaved have been around for 50 years or something. Why are people acting like they are new and unheard of?

They are good gadgets. Much less aggressive than a razor. A razor will definitely work but it’s got more potential to stick a hole in something that’s quite lightweight if you are a bit ham fisted. You can stick a hole in something with the shaver gadget too but it’s a lot harder to do it in my experience anyway. They both work the same regardless. But the battery shaver is a bit easier to use

Sweater shavers are a gimmick in my opinion. A razor works better for me.

I wondered that too. I definitely don’t think they’re worth spending a ton of money on but can be helpful if a large part of the garment has piling. It’s it’s just a little I definitely think the razor works just fine!

I just bought an electric shaver, never thought to use a razor, but I'm happy with the shaver
