10:54 Preston sitting outside on steps with a bottle of liquor. Looks like he went down the hill. I would rather say Preston has some good acting skills. Thank you for this useful video.
Great video! My favorite method is the sweater comb - never going back! I used to use the scissors method and stopped when I accidentally cut a hole in one of my cashmere sweaters :(
Incredible great, eye opening, stuning! It was there for sure all the years. Could not stop finding spills everywhere and LOVE IT TO GET RID OF! Day by day clothes, ceilings even pillows get his first day look back. Thank you so much sharing this and even do it so entertaining.
Love the vibe, you made fabric pilling interesting, educational and watchable. My only wish is that you had put the fabric comb in your product list. There are about 3 million on Amazon with varying reviews and I don’t want to get one that ruins my clothes…I still found your video very informative. At least I have a direction to go. Thank you!
using a cheap shaving rasor is actually a thing I did during my military service. we'd shave our barretes in order to remove the fuzz (and thus, the bulk they create). we'd actually joke around that those who dont shave their barretes have a "cat" on their shoulder/head, since they were so fuzzy and bulky it looked like an animal from a distance XD
Spectator shoes were popularized in the 30's, but got their namesake from spectators, and especially referees, of sporting events. Spectator shoes are less formal than a derby and more formal than monk straps. They're best worn with informal suits, although I have seen black spectators worn at maximum with stroller suits in 30's illustrations (and done so myself). Keep to classic styles of brown/black and white leather. Pair your belt to the non-white leather. Make sure your outfit is subtle enough to accomodate louder shoes like these. Lastly, shining them professionally might be best if you're unsure about your own ability to polish two-tone shoes.
I don't think we'll see it any time soon. Frock coats were done away by Edward VIII in the 30's. While you may see them once in a very rare while for some traditional ceremony, they're not really seen in practical settings such as the Royal Ascot Derby or traditional English weddings, which are practically the only times a man will wear morning dress anymore.
@@JoJo-xp6wr Depends on what you have to carry. I'd argue it's a stylish detail, but it's not worth breaking your arm over. Keep in mind most businessmen don't have to run around with numerous textbooks. I used to carry a black canvas bag with leather details. It allowed me to carry a couple of textbooks, along with other schooling essentials all the while looking more stylish than a backpack. Just remember that you may not be able to even fit a single textbook in one of those.
Please read this comment I have tried to tell you guys this in so many videos can you do a video about parker fountain pens and I'm a huge fan of this channel
I got a new dress 4 days ago. Wore it today for the first time and my barbour apparently rubbed it a bit creating on the dress's soft material some annoying fuzz balls. I am debating throwing it away but this would be so wasteful and somehow wrong, after having worn it only once. Let's hope your video will save my classy Italian dress. :D
I've found that a pocket knife works just as well in a pinch as a cheap razor. Though, probably better for tighter weaves than for knitwear. Just need to be careful about cutting the fabric, but it's the same idea as shaving
Thank you. Your video was very informative and helpful. PS. Do you know a technique to ‘unshrink’ a wool sweater? I’m thinking hair conditioner to loosen the matted fibers. What are your thoughts?
Hi GG Team, Entertaining and Informing as always. I wanted to propose a content idea. I’ve recently acquired a copy of Emily Post’s Etiquette and I am enthralled. The guidelines of gentlemanly behavior are so apparent yet so nuanced. I think a series of videos going through each section of the book would be very well received - providing commentary, exceptions, anecdotes. There are etiquette videos on the channel, but this book is universal and goes incredibly in depth. Cheers and thank you as always
Question No.1 : Why must we use both a sweater comb and a garment's brush in order to remove any pilling? Question No.2 : What softener do you suggest for European customers? :/
Hey guys. I enjoy watching your videos and recently has made a first purchase from GG. I have a suggestion for one of future videos: best suit brands for tall people 6.2 and above. I can't really find a good brand from Italy or France that has 106 size. It's all for shorter people. Suitsuply - yes, but other than that can't find any brands. Any suggestions?!
Typically you'll want a horse-hair clothing brush. I use a lint remover made of a sort of velcro-like fabric that is pushed one way and picks up those things.
How do I remove pilling from suits? I recently acquired a 30%cashmere 70% wool POW check and the pilling in certain places removes the crisp of the pattern
@@GangBlud you have to go over the pilled area a few times in different directions and don't press hard. i have a phillips one that came with a spare head for short length fibre things like cashmere. ive never used it.
The issue I'm experiencing is fast fashion...If I buy a 300€ italian cashmere sweater, no pilling! But a 20%wool, 80% acrylic Zara knit that cost €30 gets pilling within the first use!
Preston might just be the biggest weapon in menswear history
He’s a registered lethal weapon in 48 states...
Embracing Preston's robot vibes alins pretty well with GG's recommendations on being more likelable

An added note for those who wear synthetic fabrics is that sun exposure will damage the fibers over time as well and cause pilling.

Preston, You did an excellent job as usual. Thank you for all the time, effort and information that you give us in each video. It is most appreciated.

The "dark" intro ACTUALLY scared me a bit. :)
Thank you for covering this topic. Great for men and women to know about clothing and care.
Throw them out, they are not worth the effort.
That intro really threw me for a loop! Great video as usual, Preston!

I live in merino wool and I’ve never been brave enough to try this method. I’m glad I didn’t now.

Same, I still use a lighter to singe the fuzz on my coat cuffs and collar.

You guys should a update on the spectator shoe! I have a pair from the 50s and I have no idea how to wear them!

My coat and sweater is both pilling, but that is because of the friction between my arm and side of my upperbody

What about fabrics composed of three or more natural fibers? (No synthetics) Are they more likely to pill as well?
2:30 beastly gains, bro! Keep at it!
Pilling gradually weakens the host garment. But what can one do, but buy anew?
Thks
Can you guys do a review over yeossal???

If adhesive lint rollers are not recommended, what is the best way to remove lint and pet hair from garments?

Très utile merci.
How do I remove pilling from suits? I recently acquired a 30%cashmere 70% wool POW check and the pilling in certain places removes the crisp of the pattern
Must be very short fibers if you get pilling on a suit. Never heard such thing.. a suit is so tightly knit compared to a sweater .
A Buddy of mine uses a lighter. Would you recommend using one aswell?
Maybe not the best idea.
Using a razor is simple enough, more precise and safer.
May you can make a video "How to dress like Prince Charles"? He is a kind of classic british styling with some own additions, isn´t he?
Bought a beautiful heavy wool blend sweater with a zipper. Yet it's 40% wool, 40% acrylic and 20% something else.. It's pilling really hard :c
So get yourself a depilling machine. Ive got one, its a basic little thing but it makes a difference and rejuvenates the fabric on the sweater.

In time your garment gets thinner and thinner the more you remove the pilling. There’s nothing you can do when it comes to knitwear pilling
