Ryan, thank you for this video. I keep an eye out for music and entertainment , certain advertising, and just out of the ordinary vintage and newer tee shirts. This is good information for resellers. Thank you again and this is going in my reselling playlist.
Love your videos...always educational. I found my first vintage t-shirt this weekend. Jimi Hendrex w/ copyright stamp of 2000 at garage sale, probably not worth much but still nice
Can this happen to a shirt that isn’t old, but I guess just cheaply made? I’ve had a tshirt for maybe over 2 years, nothing fancy just a marvel tshirt, and over the last 2 years random holes just started popping up, if you even breathe at the shirt wrong it rips more 🤣 at this point it looks like a Yeezy shirt (iykyk)
I had a 1988 Def Leppard hysteria that had bad dry rot. It looked new but had a strange feel to it. I remembered a video you did one time that showed you checking for dry rot. I tugged lightly and it just fell apart.
I have two dry rot shirts 1 is a Deadstock brown star trek shirt on a changes tag 2 is a green Harley shirt that was in a yellow create for 20+ years that smelled like mold when I pulled it out Different colors definitely do dry rot
The brown one was probably black at one point if on changes, the green one is more than likely mold caused, not dry rot. I’m sure I could be wrong tho :)
Personally, I never buy T's with dry rot. I have some 'Tallica T's that are super valuable and none of them have developed dry rot jus because they're 100 % cotton and I am convinced that those 80's T's are infinitely better made than current T's.The fit, the shape, the overall feeling of wearing an 80's T is just unmatchable
Is there a chance you can pinch test the shirt too hard? So it doesnt have dry rot but will still rip because it is deadstock and how hard you tested it? Most of dry rot tees I see online rips like napkins but from my own experience I usually come across shirts with early dry rot stage I think. They wont rip easily but when I do the pinch test on bottom hem and use little bit more force they will. Was curious if I do it wrong or something but tested other shirts that are good same way or even harder and no chance they will rip.
I started to think about that when I got a situation I sold the shirt as a dry rot (I tested it and was ripping) and the guy who bought it after receving it said that it's good to him (though shirt has holes from my test)
Yeah some shirts do. Which is why Ryan took his valuable time to make this video and educate people for free 👍. Not all shirts age like milk. Depends on how it was taken care of
🙏
I think this video is honestly just Ryan showing us how strong his fingers are, you can't fool me!!!!!!!!!
Finger biceps on swole 😆
😂
Have been waiting for this video from a reliable source forever! Thank you🙏
You're very welcome!

Thanks Ryan!! Great video!!
I love the idea of framing the shirt! Is there a market for framed vintage tees?
Great video Ryan!
Brilliant content. A topic that a lot of resellers completely ignore 👏
Appreciate it!

😞 damn
Thank you so much, Ryan! Great invaluable info.
Glad it was helpful!
So Ryan how about soaking a new old stock in vinegar
That could help get rid of some of the dye in the shirt, but once the fabric is deteriorated, there’s no reversing it

It's all about the dye used :)
So basically,as long as I wear my vintage shirts and keep washing them, they will not get dry rot?😅
Pretty much, unless they are already rot

I would say the chances are slim, if it rips it probably has early dry rot.
I tried pinching my girl to see if she had dry rot. She didn't like it, also she didn't have dry rot :p
Hahahaha! I don’t recommend this 😆
Great video. Thanks 🤣
No problem 👍
