- Denise's cousin wants her to be the maid of honor in her wedding next year. Denise needs to get out of it because it's going to be a hot mess. Denise's cousin wants to invite 150 people with 16 bridesmaids and this girl is flat broke. Denise guarantees the reception will have plastic tables and chairs.
A lot of people think he is joking but things like that really happens. He is not making that up

Yup, I got invited to one of those "hood" weddings that they obviously couldn't afford. They managed to get a slot for valentines day. During the run up to the wedding, they started text messaging guests (including me) asking of they could "chip in" for various elements of the wedding, and STILL expected a gift on top of that 😳. They asked me to pay for the flower arrangements (which would've been £200). I said "NO! If you can't afford to have the wedding by the date that you booked it, then don't have the wedding until you CAN afford it" 🙄
Not sure what the rush was, but she's the one who proposed to him, so maybe she didn't want him to get cold feet and cancel.
This remind me of my uncle wedding 16 bridesmaids & groomsmen, 2 Jr groomsmen & brides , 3 flower girls and All the groomsmen was wearing a zoot suit w/ a chain link on the pants, a durby hat and cane in the middle of July. That day was hot.

@@brett8460 you can be broke and have a nice wedding, you just need to adjust your expectations. I went to a wedding a few years ago where they spent less than $500 for the entire event. No flowers, a friend took the pictures, mom did the cooking, 50 close guests, small cake, in the park, minimal decorations. We had a great time because we knew and loved everyone there and got to spend a great evening with them. Small inexpensive weddings are more personal and far less formal. It allows you to relax and enjoy yourself more.

Court house, weddings in the backyard, small weddings...lots of different ways for "poor" ppl to get married thank you.
My wedding came in at less than $100. It was small (~30 guests), and fairly informal. We had use of the church and parish hall for free. Friends all chipped in--one friend & I made the bouquets out of craft flowers. One did the photography, one brought a nicely decorated sheet cake. One friend did all the liturgical music (we had a full Mass), her ex-son-in-law was a DJ & handled all the rest of the music. Our pastor & his wife supplied most of the refreshments, several guests brought dishes & beverages. I had three bridesmaids, & told them to wear whatever they felt most comfortable in. My own gown was a beautiful tie-dyed dress with Asian-style sleeves. We didn't bother with written invitations or fancy decorations. You don't need a lot of money to have a beautiful celebration, just a lot of love...💗

In my culture, we can bring how many people we can accommodate on weddings, so it’s usually around 300-400 people for my own family but it depends on the size of the venue, sometimes the amount of ppl can go to 1000.
