    Steve is right, as a mother of four, my time to create valued traditions was during those 18 years. I love that my children organize family dinners/outings/bdays and such on their own and invite me. Hearing my daughter tell me I am her best friend and she cherishes our relationship was everything I hoped for and way more than I ever expected. That is priceless. Let the good people (you raised) be who they were meant to be. Being a mother of adult children is only a title. Having great connections and honoring our adult relationships is a gift. It is a different joy than when they were babies and depended on me. Now I get to be there as they walk their sacred path and serve as their advisor. IF and ONLY IF they call on me.

      I do not agree, with due respect. I am not a mother, I have a mother, so i am coming from a different point of view. A mother deserves companionship of her children. And from the moment the child becomes able, it is not a choice but an absolute moral obligation that s/he starts caring for the mother, in whichever way she needs. A mother should be a priority in life in any case, not an extra curricular activity. A mother doesn't have to be the best friend! Being a mother having taken care of her children through the period of infancy and childhood is enough for her to be deserving of that. I know western societies have a lot of leniency to that regard, but coming from an Islamic background I can tell you that this is the absolute foundation of a family for us, our mothers are our queens! Forever!

      @@Afif.anNayem.asSalafi i think your comment doesn't do justice to kids from all backgrounds. Some are raised in harsh and toxic conditions from their parents, and therefore they seek to just get out as soon as they hit adulthood. Relationships are formed, not forced. If she was a good mother to her children, no doubt she will receive love and care from the kids in later years

      Moreover, whatever your attitudes her daughter behaved and treated to her, no bad words came from the mom for her daughter. She just asked for one night and everyone just laughed as if the mom was an idiot. Why?! Did the mom deserve that kind of treatment? Such a shame on this episode and Steve!

      A son is a son until he meets a wife. A daughters a daughter all of her life. The mom has no friends and is treating her daughter like her bbf who is backstabbing her for not being in the house. Jeez that girl has a full deck of study and work and has to let off steam. She is trying to hang onto her friends. You need them. She's gonna have to get a hobby going or get a part time job. Volunteer or something so she has news to share herself and has something to offer if and when grandchildren show up. Her husband needs to sit down and genuinely talk with her about their future or lack thereof. Couples get sidetracked like this and by retirement age no longer know each other or have anything in common. Either seperation or divorce if she doesn't quit bugging everyone for attention. She's keeping it in the home at least and not running around being a bother outside. Poor woman is lonely and looks like she's retired and worked, so wasn't the homebody. Can't put that clock back unfortunately. The daughter is an amazing soul, but too much pressure for her young shoulders. Hope it works out for them.

    I get where she’s coming from. Like my mom died 2 yrs ago when i was 16, so ofc now i would do anything to see her again, to have another meal w/ her... but @ the same time i get where the daughter is coming from. Her mom is very annoying & tht voice makes it worse lol, but she loves her daughter. She just needs to understand her daughter is moving on w/ her life, she’ll always love her mom.. but the mom needs to let her do her own thing😊

Find a solution to fit you in her busy work school schedule and allow her to have social fun! She is working hard to be successful and deserves a little fun with her friends.

I know lots of young kids who lost their parents and they regrate it for the rest of their lives because they never or even saw they parents ever. I can srsly relate with the daughter. I be studying and working so in my free time I like to spend it with my friends or reading in my room, but my mum don’t like it. I talk to her here and there, but whenever I do it always results in a lecture so I barely do it anymore cause I be too tired for it.
    Parents srsly be wanting so much from us and don’t even think to look at themselves as part of the reason why we don’t be doing what they want.
    And I like what Steve said. Parents had all them 18 yrs for it so if we ain’t as present now, it should be okay. And like what Steve also said, that mother at 23 wasn’t nearly as present with her parents as well so pls don’t make it a big deal parents, ur children gotta use them wings without you. Just let them and remember that they’ll always come back if they love you.

    • @avsimmons72
      @avsimmons72 2 роки тому

      Old comment but this kinda looks like wanting your cake and eating it too. If you wanna "fly", then fly. But do that on your own power. Being at home under your mom's roof, eating her food, under her protection from the elements, is not flying. That's what children do.

Pretty insane what a bit of time can do to a person. And I agree. It honestly sounds so spoilt holy crap 💀 is that really me?? big yikes. But I get where past me was coming from. Just wanted some space essentially. But it just sounds all wrong tho…ugh. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Really could have done without it 🤣🤣🤣

    I don't live with my mom anymore, she's half way around the world from me. But the moment I heard that she might have cancer I wished I was there to be with her. And of course when I came back to visit my family I stayed with her most of the time like going to yoga class with her, eating breakfast, lunch and dinner with my family if I don't have to go out with friends. And I did that during breaks from pharmacy school when I had 2 jobs. All I'm saying is that she can definitely spend 1 night a week with her family if she knows how to organize her life, because you don't know what will happen tomorrow
