The reason Mark Ruffalo replaced Edward Norton is because, from what I've heard, Ed Norton is a pretty difficult guy to work with. There was already some behind the scenes drama about the cut of this film that got released (Norton wasn't happy with it) and Marvel Studios just decided to avoid the headaches bringing back Norton would cause and recast the character.

    • @bubarules

For what I've heard, the studios cutted a big chunk of Edward's acting and he was really upset that didn't even go to see the premier and didn't want to go back to the role. IMO the movie was great and I preffer this hulk over the mark's itteration.

Hey Alex, regarding the Disney rights thing - you're a lawyer so this may interest you. So, in the mid 90s, Marvel was just doing comic books and cartoons and was hurting for money and declared bankruptcy. As part of working their way out of that they sold off the film rights to a lot of characters. Universal bought Hulk, Sony bought Spiderman, 20th Century Fox bought X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool, and New Line Cinema bought Blade. Marvel Studios was created as a subsidiary to coordinate with the various studios.
With the success of the Tobey Maguire Spiderman movies, The Patrick Stewart/Hugh Jackman X-Men movies, and the Blade movies, Marvel Studios started to wonder if it was viable to make its' own movies, and that's when they started planning the MCU. Marvel looked over all the characters they hadn't sold yet and realized that they still owned the Avengers and related characters. For characters like Hulk and Spiderman, they've had to work in tandem with the other studios. Regarding Hulk specifically, Hulk can show up in any non-Hulk movie without Universal (like the Avengers), but a Hulk movie has to go through Universal unless they buy those rights back. Characters like Blade had their rights transfer back already as well.
Where that gets interesting is that in 2009 Disney bought Marvel, and in 2019 Disney bought 20th Century Fox. so now the film rights for Deadpool, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four are all "under one roof" with the Avengers, and there is some creative storytelling work in progress to figure out a narrative that explains how to get all of those together with the rest of the Avengers, etc.
So, kinda helpful to know that some of the narrative choices are, like many things, the result of stupid legal decisions, lol.

I don’t care what anyone says, I like this movie. Not the best MCU movie but imo not as bad as people say. It’s a fun movie that I’ve watched many times
“It threw a forklift truck like it was a softball!” and “no tienes más stretchy?” are my favorite lines
Alex freaking out about needles and medical procedures makes me excited for when he gets to Doctor Strange 😈😈
“Is he pissed at the circumstance?” No, he got struck by lightning and thought the military was shooting at him again
Blonsky got shots up with a tainted batch of an attempt to recreate a super soldier serum. And the movie explains that the Hulk was created in a similar way except it involved gamma radiation. You’ll learn more about the serum throughout the Captain America trilogy
Dr. Sterns getting the blood in his forehead teased him becoming The Leader but he has yet to appear in the MCU
This is the only movie where the post credits came before the credits.
As for the origin speedrun at the beginning, there had already been a Hulk origin movie 4 years prior with Ang Lee’s Hulk so they decided to just fast forward through it.
And Edward Norton was recast because supposedly he insisted on rewriting parts of the script to improve the movie so to avoid that happening in future projects they replaced him with Mark Ruffalo instead

    • @YTCBlackStar
      @YTCBlackStar 2 роки тому +13

From the interviews Norton had explaining what those changes were, I'd would like to watch that. Apparently they actually filmed all of those scenes but never included it in the film itself, which pissed Norton off.
The only scene they kept in the deleted scenes was the scene where Bruce put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger and Hulk spit it out.

I really enjoyed this movie. There were a lot of references to the old tv show with Ferrigno like the origin, the line you wouldn't like me when I'm angry, the student filming it has the same name as a reporter in the old show, and Ferrigno actually does the voice of the Hulk. The purple pants thing is a reference to what he has worn in the books for almost 40 years. Samuel Stearns becomes one of Hulks main villains The Leader. I think a big reason they skipped the origin of Hulk was not wanting to rehash the non-MCU Hulk movie that came out five years earlier.

There are a number of references to The Incredible Hulk TV Show of the 1970’s; ranging from the use of the bright eyes that initiate the Hulk-outs to the brief cameo of Lou Ferrigno (the original Hulk from the TV show) as a security guard.
To give a little history; Ferrigno played the Hulk, opposite Bill Bixby as David Banner.
The series ran for five seasons (1977-1982); but it got canceled with no resolution to end the series. They did three made-for-TV movies in the late 1980’s - early 1990’s. There was talk of a fourth Hulk TV movie, but due to Bixby’s health; diagnosed with cancer, he died in 1993.

Him reverting to Bruce is likened to both running a marathon nonstop and getting over being blacked out drunk. Hulk has Anger Empowerment. He literally becomes more powerful the angrier he gets. Sterns is The Leader in the comics. A major Hulk enemy. Just some knowledge bits. Abomination does not have Anger Empowerment. He is outright stronger than Hulk but typically as the fight goes on, Hulk becomes stronger than Abomination. Hulk is not invulnerable. He is insanely hard to hurt and only similarly strong people can damage him. He has healing that rivals Wolverine’s. Random bits.

Also the hulk wasn't throwing a boulder at the rain when he and her were at the cliff when Bruce goes Hulk the personality of Bruce switches with the hulk and hulk doesn't like scary things so in the mind of the hulk he was trying to frieghten away the lightning also the reason why she hasn't seen Bruce in his hulk form until this movie is cause the movie before this he got gammad up went hulk mode hulk was scared cause he found himself in a tiny box with people shouting at him or trying to hurt him so he does what he first thinks he starts smashing stuff to escape she got knocked unconscious if anything she may of thought that the monster also killed Bruce

In Vietnam, super glue was used by combat medics to seal wounds and stem bleeding so that soldiers would survive the trip back to the company surgeon, and in the 90's the FDA approved it's use in first aid treatment as it is super-efficient at preventing bacterial infections on open wounds.
Sam Stearns becomes The Leader, one of Hulk's nemeses in the comics with super-intelligence and the ability to control gamma radiation.
The serum they were injecting Blonsky with was a facsimile of the super-soldier serum that was used on Steve Rogers to make him into Captain America. The original formula was lost, so this serum is different and makes the worst parts of people's psyches manifest (Hulk's repressed childhood anger triggering his transformation).
Hulk's strength is also directly proportional to his rage. The angrier he gets, the more powerful. Abomination is about twice as strong as baseline Hulk, but his strength is static, so the longer the fight goes on, the bigger the advantage Hulk has over him as he gets more and more enraged.
I also REALLY prefer this version of Hulk to Ruffalo's version. It's very dark and horror-esque, and I love it. There's something very appealing of just letting it all go and becoming a giant green rage-monster :D

This is actually a sequel to the 2003 movie "Hulk". To summarize, Bruce was experimented on as a child by his father. He was injected with some kind of serum (possibly trying to recreate the Captain America super soldier serum? I'm not sure) but it didn't do anything. It wasn't until he was an adult when he was exposed to what were supposed to be lethal levels of gamma radiation that the Hulk manifested. Banner and Hulk are supposed to be split personalities, kind of like a Dr Jeckel and Mr Hyde scenario, that are inhabiting the same body.

  • @danielallen3454

The stuff they gave Blonsky was an attempt to replicate the serum that made Captain America. But because the scientist who developed that process withheld certain key details, nobody in the Marvel universe was able to properly do it. Not until recently. So it always resulted in aberrations.

This production took over A LOT of Southern Ontario. That last fight was filmed on Yonge St in Toronto, right outside where I worked. During the day, all the set dressing was kept in a parking lot outside my work building, including that two-piece police car. The funny thing is, they had bags of garbage with florescent pink signs saying 'Do not remove. Set dressing for I.H.' and they had fake phone booths with spray paint and scummy stuff on it saying 'not real' phone... So they had to import garbage to make Toronto look like Harlem. We found that funny at the time.
And that wall they climbed up, that was in Hamilton Ontario. It was just a wall they literally built in an empty lot and then tore it down afterwards. (Don't know why. It's still an empty lot. They could've rented it to other films.) And the University where the sound cannon fight took place was the University of Toronto.

In the comics, Banner was setting off a gamma explosion in a military ordinance area for data purposes. A person from the base somehow drove in the area. Bruce could not stop the count and rushed out of cover to save the man (pushed him into a trench). At that moment, before Bruce could drop into the trench, the gamma explosion went off. That is how Bruce was exposed to all the gamma radiation. Fun fact...The Hulk was originally grey in color. However, the comics had a hard time with the grey ink (especially when doing shading). Due to this, Lee changed the color to green.
