I also have no idea how they're gonna do this story for the show. The game is a masterpiece of story telling, but it in part relies on how the game is played - and the short cut of being able to play as a character to build the connection with them. However, I'm also of the opinion that the changes made for the first season are objectively better than the game (and the game is in my top 3 of all time), so I fully trust them to pull it off. For example, in the show, since they don't have the gameplay shortcut of playing as Sarah, they extended her story in the first episode.
I agree, playing as a character and flashbacks give so much valuable insight and backstory but it doesn’t always work for television. I’m so excited to see how they do it though!

You are free to like or hate in a game all you like, but you need to play the game to level that opinion, and your opinion of the game should never result in threats of violence against those who created it. As a result of this vitriol, while the games Metacritic reviewer score is only 3 points lower than Part 1 but, the Metacritic user score sits at 5.8.

Right there with you. I fell for the outrage during the leaks and absolutely hated the game for a solid 2.5 years after it came out before sitting down and watching it played by people who hadn't experienced it yet. I've changed my mind completely.

It might be that she hasn't had the same gaming relationship to Joel as most others that has played the first game way before the second one and also maybe played it several times.
When I played this game and that scene happened, I wanted to find and kill everyone in Abby's group. I was SO shocked and sad, and Ellie having to see it all happen was just brutal. This game made me cry a few times. It's absolutely incredible, the more you see of Seattle the more you'll see how this game has changed from the first one. I cannot wait to see how the show translates this game, but I trust Mazin and Druckmann to get it right. And the further into the game you go, the better and better it gets.
I guess I'm kinda like you lol, I also smile when I see brutal and traumatic events like Joel's death, even when I see the emotional anguish of their grief. Although it makes me look like a psycho and makes people dislike me LOL

You may notice the huge question marks on the map. That is when you go to it and enter the building. Also, if a door is ever locked, it means there is always a way to open it. And you need to get off the damn horse and go to each area. Unfortunately you keep walking by safes and areas and wonder why you don’t have weapons and ammo. But take your time in the city. If you can get back in the courthouse, one safe is in the room you didn’t go in next to the elevator door. And don’t skip the bank. You need it. 😉
If it makes you feel better i reacted the same way when Joel died. It’s sad but not devastating like all these other people portray it to be. People need to hardened up it’s just a video game character. I’m not gonna lie, but I would kind of laugh seeing other UA-camrs sobbing during that scene like if was their own family member.

@@curlyxcoco what i am saying is Joel died in a side character death kinda way, and he is a main character, there should be a build to his death…like we play with him or as ellie and we see him and ellie have dialogues and see their arguments in present day instead of the flashback, then before mid game, we see Abby and her friends track down joel, and they way the made him get ambushed and found by Abby was very lucky, that’s what i mean…if you watch many good movies and tv shows you’ll understand why its a bad way to kill the character
@@ManOhMan_1 the wlf is a big organization and they knew exactly who they were looking for. there was not much “luck” that they found him. and there is value in shock factor of suddenly killing off a main character. take into consideration that this game is a parallel between ellie and abby. having ellie and joel be on bad/not so decent terms and him suddenly dying is so tragic (im a fan of angst) and then watching the character we love go through the emotions of that and learning how far they will go during such times is so good. you probably dont care but imagine abby thinking her dad is about to do surgery and get a whole cure for zombies and then boom he is dead (and a lot of others) its a parallel. maybe you are saying you wish joel was in the game more? like playing as him more or something? the WAY he died and all the circumstances surrounding it is amazing to me story wise.
@@curlyxcoco i still think they could’ve delivered it in a way better scenario, when you have a successful plot in the first game and what made it successful mostly is the dynamic between Joel & Ellie and the build between their relationship and how we grow to love them in every chapter. So in your second game you should let us have some of that and explore more into their relationship and the problems they are going through as part of building to his death, you could still have the shock factor while doing that if it was written by good writers…look at GoT episode 9 of season 1, if you know what i mean then that’s a perfect example of how you kill a main character in a good build up and still shock the audience. But what the game did was so disrespectful for Joels character its like they just want to get it done to present Ellie & Abby story. And what i meant by "luck" is the way that Abby happened to be in a perfect situation where a horde was chasing her and leading her to Joel and then making joel and tommy go to the mansion. Even when Owen said to Abby "you have been lucky" she replied: "oh you have no idea”. It all seemed like they built the perfect situation for Abby to get Joel and kill him quickly to start the revenge story instead of them actually planning how to lure Joel out. At the end of the day the game is controversial for many reasons joels death is one of them, so there’s gonna be the percent of people who didn’t like it and the other who find it to be good.👍🏼

Noticed that a lot of gamers dont explore every building. The guitar scene could easily be missed if the specific building isn't explored.

You can smash glass with Square, you can hit and destory glass even if you dont have a melee weapon, she'll just use her knife
