Scrappy ANYTHING is my favorite!😄
Ditto!!! ☀️
Thank you, Annette. I'm really enjoying your scrap series. ⚘️
I'm really glad. It should be fun, right? ☀️
That is such a quick and easy way to stop and start the binding. It's quite my favourite way. Thanks for your tutorials, they are very enjoyable. You have a nice calm voice too.
☀️ Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy the channel! ☀️
What a wonderful video to wake up to today. And what a great project for those times when you just want to sew, but at the end you wind up with lots of gifts for housewarmings, teachers, secret Santa, hostess gifts - the list goes on because there are so many occasions to give a small gift. Thank you!
You are so welcome!☀️
Great going love the three ways to finish the binding
Thank you! 😊
Fantastic idea. I'm definitely going to make these. Thanks❤
You are so welcome!☀️
These are really nice thank you. That is my favourite way of starting and finishing binding. So much easier.
Thanks!
Anna I have 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren….. guess what they’re getting for Christmas??😂 Thank you!! Jolly to you and The Fat Quarter Shop!!!
That’s fantastic! ☀️
I ever met a scrap I didn’t like! Such an easy, clever way to use them.
You could make a whole kitchen set out of them. Everyday placemats and mug rugs, pot holders… a great gift idea for kids just setting up their first kitchen. ❤
Jan
So true! Thank you! ☀️
I love watching scraps videos! I hate wasting fabric! These would make awesome Christmas gifts! Thank you!
You are so welcome ☀️!
Great idea! I’m going to try this.
Good way to use scraps. Thanks for sharing.
That's awesome! Have fun with it!
Great idea for a little extra gift to give away.
I think so too!☀️☀️
Christmas gifts coming up, many thanks to you!
Happy holidays!☀️
Awesome idea . Thanks for sharing 👍❤️
My pleasure 😊
I just made 25 potholders as Christmas gifts with binding for edges. What I did use were 2 additional layers of cotton batting. Seemed like the thing to do!😂
I use 2 additional pieces of batting as well especially when making a mat for a casserole.😊
That’s fantastic! I find one layer plenty for my purposes, but would definitely use an extra layer if I thought it was needed. It’s such a fun project! ☀️☀️☀️
Thanks for the video. There is something about just doing crumb piecing that is so relaxing and fun. At least for me! Nice work. Thanks for the tip about the corners, I am definitely going to try that.
Glad you enjoyed it! ☀️
Beautiful!!
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful! Would be adorable in Christmas fabrics too!🥰
Totally!☀️
Adorei. Bom para presentear também. Abraços brasileiros. Gratidão
Thank you for the kind comment! ☀️
My sister in law wants some placemats for her kitchen nook so now im going to make her a set with matching pot holders and hot pads thank you for refresher course on scrap potholders especially doing the bindings which are not my favorite thing lol ksep up great work
Thank you Linda! I am positive the set will be loved! ☀️☀️
I find that by adding a folded triangle on one or both corners of the backing square I make a fancier pot holder that is more convenient to use .... I have also used single layer triangles. ..... I have also been making handle covers for my pot handles matching my pot holders and trivets . Reminds everyone the handles are hot.
What a great idea! ☀️
Bonjour !
I love making hot pads but I'm not tried the quilt as you go method. I love the self binding idea. Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome!☀️
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you create all these amazing and beautiful holder’s. And you really do teach us so very very well. And I really really love ❤️ those holder’s too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much! ☀️
What a nice way to use scraps. What sewing cabinet do you have your machine in?
Thank you! My cabinet is Arrow kangaroo and Joey combo ! ☀️
Suuprb ideiya great creation
Thank you! Cheers!☀️
nice
Thanks
Just in time for my annual pot holder making session. You have shown several ways that are new to me so I am looking forward to trying them out. I am partial to the birthing method.
Have fun! ☀️☀️☀️.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Hi Annette, could you maybe try the pineapple design with some crumbs?
Great idea! Thanks!
Did you find it necessary to use cotton thread? Your projects ALWAYS inspire me!
I use cotton thread for almost everything 😂☀️ thanks so much!
Love this video, Annette. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤ I'm curious about your sewing machine set-up, table, etc. What version if Singer machine do you have? Is your table custom made or can a similar one be purchased with the machine? It's so nice to have quick little sewing projects for little gifts. 😊
You're so welcome! I have an Arrow brand Kangaroo/Joey Cabinet. I purchased from my local sewing machine shop and they helped me order the custom acrylic insert to fit my machine which is a Singer "Modern Quilter". You might enjoy this video ua-cam.com/video/AJ_xXw0y-zU/v-deo.html
I love your idea but 1 layer of Insul-Brite isn't enough. I use 2 layers or add a layer of batting with the Insul-Brite. Great use of scraps 🙂
Great tip! I find one layer to be enough, but I know some use 2. Thanks!!
Lovely video & excellent background music (what was that pls if I might ask?). Thank you.
Thank you!! The track is listed in the description, I love it too! Made me think of the holidays ☀️
@@sunbeamfabricart Sorry, but I can't find the Description you mention. Pls clarify.
@@karenr.sternberg1920 No problem - it is Music: Royalty free "Snowy Stroll Down Mainstreet" by Adam Christgau . To see the entire description when you have any UA-cam video open, look for the word "...more" right under the title, which is below the video, and when you click " more" you will get the full description. Have a great day!
@@sunbeamfabricartThx, I've seen the 'more' just didn't scroll down far enough. Gorgeous quilt here too (forgot to say)!
Is there a common size for hot/casserole mats?
I've not heard of a common size. I see them made in all kinds of sizes! Enjoy!
Nice. Is one layer of insulbrite enough?
No
I had the same question, as I’ve never used it before. How can you make it “enough”?
No it's not enough. I use either double Insulbrite or a layer of cotton quilt batting and a layer of Insulbrite.
Opinions differ. The package says to use 2 for oven mitts. I have found one to be enough in my kitchen for pot holders to pull something out of the oven, and place between pans and granite countertops. Have fun!!! ☀️
Brilliant project! I just watched this video… ua-cam.com/video/H86MaPRHB9o/v-deo.htmlsi=POfSekywe0FuelTp
and realised that these could be sewn together to make a pot-holder quilt, which I’d never heard of before! (I live in the UK) So much to learn! 😊🤗 Deb x
I see people cutting threads up close….does that not cause seams to come undone??????
It could with usage. To prevent that just backstitch 2 or 3 stitches and that would not come undone.
