Thanks so much! I found an awesome vintage lounger and this video will help me to do this correctly and not damage the frame. The sewing instructions were the most helpful because I am not a seamstress at all and would have messed that up big time! 😂
Thank you for the video. You & your family did an awesome job. Thank you for all of the information for the sewing parts. We need to replace the slings on 2 chaise loungers.
I love how he calls thread, "sewing line". Similar to fishing line? Did you make the fabric cases the same size as original or slightly smaller so it would be taut when installed?
Fabulous video. Great family. You my wife is an interior designer makes drapes see. Will not mend my pants. I am stealing one of her sewing machines. 8 chairs to do. Ty,
Very nice choice of fabric. I am working on a sling chair and having a terrible time getting the sling out of the channel. I have used lubrication, do you have any ideas?
Getting ready to do this...did 'the wife' also use the heavy duty thread in the bobbin? Excited to redo our chairs, replacements at Costco were over $300...sheesh
I have needles & thread already because I do quite a bit of sewing, its just that sometimes the heavy threads get jumbled up...that being said,, we completed both of our chaise lounges tiday. We were heading home to order some Sunbrella fabric, when decided to stop at a Hobby Lobby we were passing. Found some outdoor fabric, on clearance, decided to try it as a 'test run'. Worked out so well, although the fabric pattern would not have been my first choice, it looks great on the chaies. Very hapoy, and would not hesitate getting a better fabric on the next go around. Just a note...whenever I work with large, cumbersome pieces of fabric, another good way to hold in place besides tape, is to use plastic clothes pins. Easy to manipulate and move around, especially when only your 2 hands are available. Great video, thanks for the inspiration to tackle on our own, hiwever, It was a bit trickier to get the seat section back together than we thought it would be. Luckily my husband is handy with tools, and clamps helped a lit. Thanks again from 2 seniors that needed another project???😂🤔😂
The material on my chairs appear to have been heated at the ends, my guess is so they won't fray as easily. What could I use to do that? Also, since the wife's part only took up a minute of video, the hubby could have taken a break on the hammering while she was filming.
So cool to see a family doing a project together. Oh yeah and it was helpful too. Thanks!
Thanks! Was a fun project…
Wish I would have watched before before attempting project. Awesome demo!
Ha- I’m glad you liked it. :)

make sure there's no tension on the fabric... i'd just cut it and then it should slide out..
how do you measure for the material, and where can you get the fabric?

She amazing and yea she did. When you buy the fabric they should be able to tell you the needle size and thread size to use

Did u put the spline back in the new fabric
Yes
Do you have a link for that fabric or where you bought it?
I recommend going to a local fabric store … they should have what you need
@@FamilyDIYtv Thanks for replying. I found it online because I loved the pattern.
@@markmyers662 was it knoll ?
Did you re-use the spline or buy a new one?
Reused
Is that 1/4" seam?
I honestly don’t know … I’m sorry. Did you find your answer ? I’d look at your current chair and see if that answers your Q.

People - ugh
I'm gonna sit on it.
How did it hold up a year later?
Perfectly fine. Can’t wait to use this year !
Who has done this ?
Going to try doing this with our set this summer. Love the fabric you chose!
@@kellydhume2452 Good Luck !!! Let me know how it turns out !
