2021 Spring Kickoff // How to Start Up Your Lawn Irrigation

It's time to kickoff the spring season with the start up of your lawn irrigation system. This is how I start up my irrigation system and it also marks the start of the 2021 Spring Lawn Season. This is my how to. It may not be the same way other people do it, but it works for me.

How do you clean them out ?

For the most part it's a sealed system and little bit that is opened won't let anything big in. Any small particles should make it through the sprinkler heads, but if a head gets clogged, just remove it and clean and/or replace.

How often do you run your irrigation for your bermuda time wise? And on your plants?

I use a Rachio controller and let it decide on it's own. It has a "Flex Schedule" that looks at recent and forecasted weather and determines the proper watering. It saves a ton of water and keeps everything in great shape. On occasion I will run a quick watering for 5 minutes a zone after a mow if it's a really hot day, but other than that, I let the Rachio do it's thing.
