Fresh Water for Flowers has been on my want to read list, but I’m moving it up based on your review. It sounds like a book I will love. I ended June with The Goldfinch, and realizing Donna Tartt is going to be an auto buy author for me. I do hope she has another book coming soon. I still have her second book to read, so I’ll just have to be thankful for that. Have a great week💕
I recently read Her Majesty’s Royal Coven and I agree with you. I loved the reading of it with some thought provoking stuff but there is something that niggles at me. I am not decided if I want to continue, but I might borrow it from the library if I do!
That looks like a very interesting reading month! Two of the books I enjoyed most last month were: The red palace (mystery novel about solving a murder in Korea in 1758, super interesting) and Three Mages and a Margarita (very fun urban fanatsy). If you need a neew book about witches after Her Majesty's Royal Coven I can really recommend the latter one. It not only features witches, but also alchemists, druids, fae and other magical creatures. It's perfect when you need a fast-paced and shorter book.
I stumbled upon Fresh Water for Flowers while looking for French books this year. Have not heard anyone talk about it. I’m glad to hear it’s good! I have a lot to read this summer, including Bonjour Tristesse/A Certain Smile, If Beale Street Could Talk, a bunch of Ancient Greek/Roman stuff, Divine Might, and The Silence of the Girls.
Thank you for your Boy Parts review! You kinda sum up my feelings exactly! I thought I hated it but somehow I keep thinking about it…. Not a 4 stars for me but maybe a 3? Haha! Very mixed feelings!
I am now so excited to read Fresh Water for Flowers! I can’t believe it’s been sitting on my bookshelf since last year, so I guess it’s high time to delve in…your enthusiasm for it is so inspiring!!🩷💐
I have fresh water for flowers! Maybe I bought it after you mentioned it in a prior video. Either way I’m picking it up next. Your description of living this is exactly how I feel about books I love. 🤞🏻
Fresh Water for Flowers has been on my shelf for the past year. I had not heard anyone talking about it. Your review is compelling me to move to my priority tbr this summer!
At some point Goodreads suggested me Fresh water for flowers and it looked interesting, but hearing you talk about it definitely makes it a priority on my tbr now. Currently starting The mystery of the yellow room and planning on reading some indian litterature this summer.
Oh good, you helped me decide to dnf 'Special Topics in Calamity Physics' as I was over 100 pages in & really struggling! 🤣 LOL I would have done what you did & power through it, my stubborn nature, but I realized I also have been reading a lot of books that I got along better with & I didn't need to waste time~ I'm still learning to dnf it seems 😅but the reasons you gave for not getting along with it were exactly my own! Looking forward to a better reading month ahead! Tnx Alice 💜
Great video as always! I have The Last Murder at the End of the World but haven’t started it yet. I will be getting Fresh Water for Flowers from my local library. Definitely sounds like my kinda read! Thanks again!
You and I felt the same way about Boy Parts. It was the first book I read that is considered unhinged, and I can't stop reading books like that now. Also, I said I would not read anymore of her books, but Boy Parts stays with you. I have to read her books. It's a "torture" I enjoy.
Great reviews! I'm running to my shelves right now to pick up Fresh Water for Flowers!! I probably wouldn't have selected it for summer, but now it's a must! Thank you. ❤📚❤️ I'm in the middle of This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger. Perfect summer read!!
Now i am afraid to read Stuart Turton, i was so excited for this book. I've heard that is not how everyone expected, but hearing from you is convincing. I guess i will read it without thinking too much. But i am very intrigued by the last book - i hope will make its way to more readers. Thank you for this video, have a great week ahead!♥♥♥
Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl sounded good to me too. I bought it and tried to read it, but it is completely unreadable. I hated it and I dnf'd it quite fast. It is admirable that you finished it. I am going to put Fresh Water for Flowers on my pop!
I'm not very good with longer books, but I've just started reading V.E. Schwab's The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, I think it's going to take a while, but I'm loving it so far
I just got A Novel Love Story by Ashely Poston. I just started it and I’m liking it so far! I also am reading The Family Plot by Megan Collins, Getting Old is Murder by Rita Lakin. Have you read The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw? I may read that next

Amazing! Donna Tartt is my fave, I also hope she comes out with a new one soon ❤️

Good choice, I need to learn to DNF more too 😅

Hope you enjoy both of them!! 🥰🥰
Interesting rewiews🌷 Fresh water for flowers ( german translation) is on my TBR. Now i am looking forward to read it even more.

The Turton book is worth the read, I just had really high expectations! 🥰
@@TheBookCastle I love his books, for sure i will find something to like a lot in this one 🙂

You probably did the right thing by DNFing! 😅
I also read Boy Parts this month and had some similar feelings about it :) I read her second novel (Penance) earlier this year and really enjoyed it.
Oooh I’ll have to try her second novel as well!
I'm not very good with longer books, but I've just started reading V.E. Schwab's The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, I think it's going to take a while, but I'm loving it so far
I'm going to have to pick up Fresh Water for Flowers now. 😇
Do iiiiit! 🥰
Ordering fresh water for flowers...
Hope you love it like I did! 🥰🥰
Currently reading , "Yellowface". Next read will be, "The Vanishing of Margaret Small" by Neil Alexander.
Amazing! 😍
I just got A Novel Love Story by Ashely Poston. I just started it and I’m liking it so far! I also am reading The Family Plot by Megan Collins, Getting Old is Murder by Rita Lakin. Have you read The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw? I may read that next
Awesome! I have read The Wicked Deep in pretty sure, but to be honest, I can’t remember anything about it 😅 I think it was kinda witchy tho
I've still got Devil and the Dark Water on my tbr, and I need to get to it, but I'm not sure whether I'll read anything more from him 😅
I liked that one quite a lot! 🥰 Had a lot of atmosphere to it!
@@TheBookCastle I'll have to move it up my tbr!
Fresh Water for Flowers.... added to cart!
Hope you love it as much as me!! 🥰🥰
Hi Alice😊 quick question. When
you do your reviews and dont like the books, do you keep them aside for your book purge videos? Thank you❤
Hi! Usually I go through my shelves every couple of months and get rid of books ☺️ Also outside the book purge videos.
"The Last Murder at the End of the World" was a "little bit..." - I consider this a very telling summary review 😁
Valerie Perrin has written two other books
That's a shame about The Last Murder at the End of the World, it's one I'm interested in reading though
I’d say it’s still worth the read, I think i just had reeeeeally high expectations 😅
Absolutely hated Boy Parts
Fair 😅
