I made some really good cookies with this cake jar, and super simple. Only 2 items, One jar of this and 16 oz of purreed pumpkin....thats it!!!! Scoop out with cookie scoop, place on cookie sheet put in 350 degree oven for about 12 mins just watch them. And tada.... they are more cakey type of cookie but super yummy and beyond easy
When you make several jar mixes, two tips: - this is a great use for your recycled jars if you’re short on mason jars. - line all your jars up and put one ingredient in each jar. Then move onto the next ingredient and put it in each jar. By handling each ingredient only once you’re less likely to forget it, and less likely to mis-measure it. (Yes, Rachel is showing us one jar for the sake of teaching us!)
Yes!! Fully from scratch cake mix! I'm always struggling to make treats for the grandkids but keeping it clean and scratch. Not only does this make it so much easier, but they can help me make the mixes too AND take one home so Mom can make them! THANK YOU!!!
I use this as a base mix for carrot cake, zucchini cake, applesauce cake pumpkin cake & muffins too.. Rachel I sure love you sharing this ideas of a gift in a jar.. I DO THIS TOO. GREAT IDEAS FOR GIFT GIVINGTHIS MESSED UP YEAR. GOD BLESS PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN ✝️💖🇺🇸
I can't get enough of y'alls videos!! I believe we're about the same age, kids grown, the whole 9! These videos are encouraging me to aspire to move towards my own homestead & learn a ton before getting there! Your teachings have been invaluable! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!❤🥰❤🥰❤🥰🙏🇺🇸
Rachel, I can't thank you enough for sharing what you've learned & making my life easier by not having to do all the trial & error. Many Blessings to you & Todd from Deborah in West Virginia!
I made this cake today! I added 2 cups of chopped apples. It is the best spice cake. It’s delicious! Perfect balance of sweetness. Mmm! Thank you so much for sharing this spice cake recipe. It’s a keeper. Next time adding peaches or pears.
Thank you for this! My mawmaw would take spice cake batter and dump in fig preserves and bake. Over the years my mom said she switched to store bought mix. Ive been wanting to learn how to make it from scratch so I could make fig cakes like my mawmaw. 💓If she was still alive she would be over 100 now. The cakes come out pretty sweet and honestly so delicious with a nice strong Louisiana coffee.
Thank you so much for sharing. I copied your recipe made sure I got your name & Channel on there so I don't forget where I got it from.. Big hugs Have a great week.
I haven't had spice cake in years, the mixes look so good! I've enjoyed watching your mix in a jar series - so glad I have a treadmill(!) as our weather has been damp and gloomy with lots of wind. Boo!!
Rachel, thank you for your videos. I thoroughly enjoy them. I made up some jars of your spice mix and then thought...I wonder how this would work with your apple pie filling I had previously made. It came out beautifully! I used the extra liquid from the pie filling to make a sauce to pour over it. Yummy! I will be giving these two items as Christmas gifts. Thanks again.
This sounds great ,I love the corn bread ! I added some corn when I baked up and will do that again . I will be making this one also ,it's a great addition
my sweet little daughter in law loves carrot cake/cupcakes. I have some dehydrated carrot shreds I want to try to make a mix with. I love your recipes! (and I have freeze dried eggs too, have you ever tried this in jar mixes?)
Rachel, just tuned into your channel. Very good videos and fun to watch. I have just a small channel that I started about a week ago. Hope mine is as good as yours are.
Perfect!! I’ve been trying for months to get spice cake mix at stores and can only find white or chocolate mixes. I’m going to make me a bunch of these. Thanks for sharing
her's an applesauce cookie mix for you 2 1/2 cups flour, 1 cup brown sugar, 3/4 tsp cinnamon, 3/4 cup raisins, 3/4 cup chopped nuts, 1/2 tsp soda and 1/2 tsp salt whip 3/4 cup butter with 1 egg and 1/3 cup applesauce. stir in jar until combined and use 1 tbsp of dough on cookie sheet 8-12 minutes at 350F
Thanks you so much for the quick and easy cake recipes. I will be marking these up as gifts. Just a quick question, where did you purchase your large flour jar. Trying to reorganize my baking supplies. Would love to get my hands on one. Thanks. Cathy
I want to put ready made cake mixes in my pantry! How long is each cake mix shelf stable, with brown sugar in it (since it’s a wet ingredient)? My moma always made a sauce to pour over her spice cake. It is delicious!
What type of flour do you use? Could you do a carrot and chocolate cake in the jars? I also would love to have your brownie mix in a jar I love your channel. I work full time and have 2 teenage boys. My husband and I prep our weekly meals on the weekend so we can have home cooked meals through the week. Thank you
@@1870s thank you. We have about 6 acres and We plan to start homesteading this spring. Thanks for all the videos you and Todd do we are learning so much 😊
Rachel please order some more Baking Powder otherwise you won't be able to make Beautiful Gifts as you have just explained hahaha. Loved this video Cheers Dense - Australia
Will the moisture in the brown sugar cause any mold issue in the flour? Just curious as I've never done this before and I would love to have them on hand.
Sorry folks, I must have had a copy paste error in my description. The wet ingredients and instructions have been updated for correct measurements.
These do look pretty. Does the baking powder go OK with being on the brown sugar which has some moisture in it?
