    I really respect you mentioning how much $650 means to many people around the world and how for a lot of them its an impossible dream to spend that much on a watch. A lot of watch people are completely oblivious to this.

      I always cringe at people talking poorly on "cheap" watches around the $300-$600 mark when this may easily be a semester's wage for someone in poorer countries. Of course earnings and prices are relative, but some people in the watch communities should be aware and less snobbish.

  • @malligrub
    @malligrub 2 роки тому +517

    All snobbery aside, that's just a lovely watch. Also nice to acknowledge that $650 is an insane amount of money for most people on planet Earth, but they are not looking at buying a piece of decorative metal for their wrist (with an iphone in their pocket). For people buying swiss watches, this is insane value, almost ludicrously cheap.

    I bought mine a couple of weeks ago as a 'I've never owned an expensive watch before' purchase. My previous watch was £12.50 from Ebay but the 'hour hand' didn't really point at the number corresponding with the actual hour, which made telling the time a bit hit-and-miss. I was at Gatwick and thought I'd treat myself to a 'proper watch'. Having just watched this I'm glad I made the right decision.

    Great video, perfect exposures, great voiceover too. The review of this watch is also honest and I've learnt something new as I was certainly among those who had "this is just another Royal Oak homage" on the tip of my tongue! And I wasn't aware of their 70s model too. Anways, given the minimalistic design of this watch, it would be perfect if Tissot would offer a plain, untextured dial (just look at how cleaner the Oyster looks). And, a no-date dial would be another step up in my opinion. Happy new year and best wishes from Malta

      It's an integrated stainless steel watch with a blue waffle dial and silver hands at 40mm case size. I dont know if the guy is being sarcastic, it doesnt translate in that case. It's OBVIOUSLY an AP royal oak copy. You have to be blind to disagree. A blue waffle dial is super specific to the AP. We could just end it at that. Ask 100 watch guys about their association with a waffle dial and 100% will say: AP Royal Oak. As said, it's not just the dial: stainless steel, integrated strap, basically same size, very similar hands and indices. The only difference is the octogonal shape of the AP, which if you're doing that, you are for sure getting sued combined with the identical rest.

    Hey, terrific review! My blue is on its way.
    I basically love everything about this watch, but as a big fan of tapered bracelets, I cannot wait to see what 27/18 looks like!
    Be well, and thanks for the nifty review.

    I adore this watch but find the large dimensions kind of undermine the vintage aesthetic. I am debating between this and the Tissot Gentleman, which is also 40mm, and the styling of the gentleman just seems to fit the size much better IMO. Although, I would prefer the gentleman at 38mm still, haha. Tissot has hinted that a 36mm version of the PRX could be a possibility in the future though...

    Tried a Powermatic PRX on at the store, wanted to really like it but the integrated bracelet design made the watch sit poorly on my skinny wrist. Oh well. If I had a 7" or greater wrist, I'd be in.

    I was very close to buying this but I held back my temptation. I hope they release an automatic model without the date or/and a quartz model without the seconds hand. The seconds hand doesn't hit markers and it bothers me more than it should.

    • @gpearce11
      @gpearce11 2 роки тому +2

      There's another guy in the comments here that got a jeweller to remove the second hand of his quartz PRX, and he now loves it. Should be pretty straight forward for any half decent jeweller, so maybe look into doing that.
      Edit: I don't like your chances of keeping the warranty though, so factory that into your decision.
