I think it's safe to say that those things which are not human, like Itt, Thing, and Fester's ability to be blown up and electrocuted without dying can be attributed to resiliency due to their lifestyle, and witchcraft.

yes your right he does smile a little, maybe he saw something off screen and couldn't hold it together, maybe it was the thorough list of details how teachers really exaggerate things at story time, or maybe he is a future psychopath, or just has a mean streak, like many angry little and big boys do. Her story telling has a real deep meaning which is an Allegory for the Adams Family. In the movie we enjoy and sympathize everything from the Family's point of view so what of the Witch? She felt pain too so we sympathize with her as well.

The cast of this movies is phenomenal. Each character came perfectly alive. Of course the best ones are Morticia and Wednesday on my opinion :P But Fester, Gomez, all of them were so hypnotic. You cannot take your eyes off the Addams.
Got the chance to say that joke to a boyscout. He ran in terror. Made my day! I also like to scare Jehova's. I let them in my house and let them see my occult stuff. My wife plays along and does random creepy stuff like asking me where the bone marrow is or telling me I should sharpen the knives or my favourite: how many bibles does it take to make a good fire to cook on. I then say, I think about 7. You should see the look on their faces, they run for the hills. And little detail, My wife is always clothed like Morticia, we fence, and keep dead roses and we pull pranks on each other. My neighbourhood think we are creepy. I don't care at all.

Interesting fact. To get the kids to cry, Barry Sonnenfeld told the kids they were done filming but had to sit where they were because they would be getting measles vaccinations.
Saying that the Witch felt pain in the end and asking the kids how that feels was surprisingly deep.. Morticia basically pointed out that the Witch can feel therefore making those kids cry at the thought of being burnt to death in an oven.... It was a bit humourous but was deep at the same time This is why I love the aadams family :3
