I love the Addams family. I think they’re such wonderful people. I think it’s funny that they were designed to be the opposite of what a normal American family would look like, and that includes a father that is madly in love with his wife and kids.
I was 12 when The Addams Family was first broadcast (yeah, I'm that old, lol), and I was the perfect age to appreciate it. It was scary, creepy, kooky, mysterious, and whooky. Their house was a museum when people came to see-um, they really were a scre-um. I crawled on my broomstick, and I always loved to call on, the Addams Family.
I will always love how their family is meant to be creepy and weird but they’re all such nice people 😭😭 whenever someone comes into their house they make it as if they’re the weird one, yet they don’t treat them badly. I love this show so much 😭

Carolyn Jones was such a beauty. It's pretty cool how both Carolyn and John got cast in villain roles in the Batman '66 TV show after Addams Family as Marsha, Queen Of Diamonds and The Riddler. #RIPCarolyn
I’m kind of amazed at how well these have aged. Even the timing is still good. Most of the stuff from that era looks horribly slow now. With loads of weird close-ups and quiet moments that make no sense in a modern context. But these are amazingly timed. Other then the black and white you might think you’re watching a modern show.
I love Gomez saying “Why have kids if your just gonna send them away?” It not only shows Gomez loves having his kids around, but also calls out the REAL intentions of sending your kids to school.

A loving father/husband, a loving mother/wife, two well-mannered kids that respect their parents/elders, and a family of good hearted people. And these guys are considered “strange.” Pretty sad when you think about it.
"If we wanted them to be happy, we'd have let them stay home." IDK, that line broke my heart for Gomez a little bit. I think part of why he doesn't want the kids away from him is because he can't protect them from being socially outcast or discriminated against by the outside world. Because the Addamses are incredibly sweet and open hearted and generous, but they know the world outside hasn't always been kind to them in return.
Until they are college age, the they turn on you and blame you for them not be socialized. Then they get to college and find all the 'socialized' kids are cracked out on anti-depressants, anti-psychotics, ADHD meds, and traumatized by their time in public school, just like you always told 'em.

I love 60s TV series. Those have very short episodes but are able to tell a 1,5 hours of storyline in only 24 minutes. You don't get bored but also not get addicted to the whole series and have a need to watch a whole season in a day. Of course, as a 21st century person it is a different feeling to watch something shot 58 years ago, but little facts in this series are so satisfying to watch. The Addams Family is controversial and extraordinary in a creepy way, but mostly because the mother figure is more decicive and in charge of the control of her family, the father is very lovely and caring of his children, fulfilling the expectations of a 60s society when it comes to motherhood. The partners are so in love with each other and in a very healthy relationship. The children are also way more intelligent than their coevals and treated equally by their parents. Differences are understood and accepted by each family member and I feel like this show is quite much educating for the families who used to watch it on TV at its time.
They actually had professional marriage counselors rate TV marriages, and the Addams had by far the healthiest marriage of any TV couple! Obviously and openly affectionate, together while still having individual interests, co- raising the kids rather than that being the mother's job, and when a problem comes up rather than "This is your fault!" it's "How do we fix this together?"
@@broadwaygirl84 That’s actually very interesting, I’ll look it up! That sounds like my dad. The characters have great family values. Better than some of the normal people in the show!
Wednesday learned about the French revolution at home. She don't need no stinking school!
Paul Blake It was the 60s. Homeschooling didn’t become an acceptable thing until the 70s sadly.
True, but at school she could learn how to build a guillotine for her dollies.

Ima fool on a hill Lol Six hours! Dang you must be lucky my school lasts for eight hours
The irony is the Addams kids ARE even more educated that most kids their age. Wednesday is polite, kind, sweet, and charming for just being a little girl, and Pugsley is a loving little brother who can come up with some crazy inventions kids his age could only dream of doing.
The addams kids are in fact geniuses
Yeah understandable

Kids Pugsley's age now have a tablet and phone as parents. 😷🤷🏻
@@1337ofDiscreet1 sad but true 💯

I like how the old shows like this didn’t leave you hanging on a question at the end. Fox would’ve not had that last part.
I actually prefer shows that have a story arc and character development. That's not to say that I don't like shows like this. And if you only have the odd episode to watch, it's certainly easier when every episode is a standalone. Have fun watching!
Original morticia was so lovely. Ah to find a gothic beauty like that today would be wonderful.
She is a true beauty, very feminine, gentle and a goth at the same time..

I love the Addams family. I think they’re such wonderful people. I think it’s funny that they were designed to be the opposite of what a normal American family would look like, and that includes a father that is madly in love with his wife and kids.
Compared to today's families I really feel like The Addams family is normal
I was 12 when The Addams Family was first broadcast (yeah, I'm that old, lol), and I was the perfect age to appreciate it. It was scary, creepy, kooky, mysterious, and whooky. Their house was a museum when people came to see-um, they really were a scre-um. I crawled on my broomstick, and I always loved to call on, the Addams Family.
Poor little Wednesday she seemed so upset over the dragon death
I loved Gomez a ting so quick to go after her and comfort her
The whole family was!
Who wouldn’t be!
I was upset too when I was a kid. I was like, why?? And I didn't even know the Addams at that time. lololololllolololol
And Gomez thinks for killen the hillard
"What is there for a six-year-old to read?"
"But, someday she'll be twenty-six!"
"See you then."
I love Gomez! XD

Hi, How are you doing?
Way too funny 😂
I will always love how their family is meant to be creepy and weird but they’re all such nice people 😭😭 whenever someone comes into their house they make it as if they’re the weird one, yet they don’t treat them badly. I love this show so much 😭
“There is nothing more admirable than when two people who see eye to eye keep house as man and wife, confounding their enemies and delighting their friends.”
- The Odyssey, Homer
Odd how perfectly that fits.
The Moment when you realize that the Adams are more normal than the average family today.
When you realize that there is a difference between „normal“ and „right“.
What even is normal it’s all subjective.
Right they actually have both parents married and living in the household

Carolyn Jones was such a beauty. It's pretty cool how both Carolyn and John got cast in villain roles in the Batman '66 TV show after Addams Family as Marsha, Queen Of Diamonds and The Riddler.
#RIPCarolyn
You missed Madge Blake aka Aunt Harriet. The truant officer reported to her.
@@allanbeck4634 I didn't miss her. I specifically stated villain roles. Madge wasn't a villain on the show 😁
Carolyn would have made a good catwoman.
I thought she looked familiar
Its incredible, uncle Fester looks exactly the same in the new show as in the old show!
i love that gomez respects his wife's decision and loves his children.
I love this version of the Addams. They are all very loveable characters.
A good written Addams Family is one where they are creepy and scary but loving. They aren’t perfect but love each other all the same
They Sure are Loveable.
Oh please, a nuclear family with a lovely father... this would never be made today
Nah, a modern show would have the family just be vicious to each other or Morticia belittle Gomez all the time or Gomez as just a hen pecked husband.
I love Gomez saying “Why have kids if your just gonna send them away?” It not only shows Gomez loves having his kids around, but also calls out the REAL intentions of sending your kids to school.
I like how the man gets scared of every thing that’s in their house and Wednesday’s like wut u scared of

Morticia was absolutely stunning mother knows best
"If we wanted them to be happy, we'd have let them stay home." IDK, that line broke my heart for Gomez a little bit. I think part of why he doesn't want the kids away from him is because he can't protect them from being socially outcast or discriminated against by the outside world. Because the Addamses are incredibly sweet and open hearted and generous, but they know the world outside hasn't always been kind to them in return.
Epic comment!!! 💯💯💯
The running joke is that they believe 100% that they ARE normal
I love the simplicity and innocence of this era.Humor was funny without being dirty or crass and had no swearing or blasphemy! The best the very best!

One of the _very_ few TV families that were believably genuinely happy.
I love how Gomez and Morticia comfort Wednesday when she’s upset. They were the best TV parents!
The funny thing is, the Addamses are super friendly and polite and not actually creepy or dangerous at all, just peculiar. I'd love to hang with them.
The old lady on the board, Miss Comstock, was such a charming and memorable character actress. She played in many TV shows and movies. Most of us probably remember her best as Mrs. Cooper on the old Batman TV series.

@@clintwinchester1275 question for you
I love 60s TV series.
"They have to go to school , it's the law"

They have to go to school, too. That's why there are public schools.

Unironically the happiest TV household of all time!
Unlike the “full house” show where it’s just an image of a “perfect” family, this feels believable enough to be entertaining because of the overall macabre theme which just dials it down. At least that’s why I still come back to this every so often when I wanna see some creepy crawlies and arguably the happiest family on the big screen! ^^
The Addams would have loved the original Grimm's Fairy Tales, most of these stories we get are watered down.
the old book versions are still to find
Still that poor old woman got burnt to death
I dunno, I mean the one where a princess cut a foxes head and feet off so that he'd turn back into a prince, they wouldn't appreciate. They'd prefer that both were turned into foxes and the kingdoms burnt down instead
