    So many sitcoms were based on the premise that the husband character dislikes his wife/kids or at least barely tolerates them. I always enjoyed how devoted Gomez was to his children and loving he was to his wife.

    Gomez and Morticia are such a beautiful couple. They love each other so much. They’re also amazing parents to Wednesday and Pugsley. Even in later adaptations, this doesn’t change. One of the best things about the Addams Family.
    No matter what interpretations of them, the 1960s series, the 1990 movies, even the recent 2019 movie, Gomez and Morticia are the best loving couple and the best loving parents.

    • @Claire-tz8yl
      @Claire-tz8yl Рік тому +10

      @@elijahlivingston9477 yeah this is my favourite version. They have a love for the occult and the dark but are passionate, kind and loving not only with their family but people in general. They believe they are normal and try to make others feel at home and are concerned about others.
      Even Wednesday in modern iterations doesn't really have her childish charm. I enjoy Addams family values but it doesn't have the same charm as this one and we'll probably never get anything similar again which is a shame.

    • @Anonymous-wi6ig
      @Anonymous-wi6ig 2 роки тому +186

      Yeah that was the whole premise of the original sitcom, it was the juxtaposition of them being morbid but being healthy and happy and kind people. Nowadays because of the popularity of emo and goth subculture, they made them more edgy, especially Wednesday for some reason. It all started with the Addams Family movies from the 90s.

    I love 60s TV series. Those have very short episodes but are able to tell a 1,5 hours of storyline in only 24 minutes. You don't get bored but also not get addicted to the whole series and have a need to watch a whole season in a day. Of course, as a 21st century person it is a different feeling to watch something shot 58 years ago, but little facts in this series are so satisfying to watch. The Addams Family is controversial and extraordinary in a creepy way, but mostly because the mother figure is more decicive and in charge of the control of her family, the father is very lovely and caring of his children, fulfilling the expectations of a 60s society when it comes to motherhood. The partners are so in love with each other and in a very healthy relationship. The children are also way more intelligent than their coevals and treated equally by their parents. Differences are understood and accepted by each family member and I feel like this show is quite much educating for the families who used to watch it on TV at its time.

      They actually had professional marriage counselors rate TV marriages, and the Addams had by far the healthiest marriage of any TV couple! Obviously and openly affectionate, together while still having individual interests, co- raising the kids rather than that being the mother's job, and when a problem comes up rather than "This is your fault!" it's "How do we fix this together?"

      @@broadwaygirl84 That’s actually very interesting, I’ll look it up! Unlike the “full house” show where it’s just an image of a “perfect” family, this feels believable enough to be entertaining because of the overall macabre theme which just dials it down.
