Ever since the new DLC came out I check your channel twice a day excited for the next video! I can’t get enough of your Brotato content. I now watch it before I go to bed and fall asleep so I probably have a stupid amount of hours 😂
I just want to thank you, since i just finished D5 at all characters in main game, not without some help of your guides! And for introducing me with this game in a first place. What a gem. Thank you!
Personally, I think the duplicate items giving a -10% penalty is a bit excessive due to how you tend to gain a lot of items in runs anyways. I think a -5% penalty for duplicate items with limited items being unaffected, and -10% for duplicate weapons would be much better.
It probably doesn't help that you're also going to be getting a lot of crates on this character from all the loot aliens, which means a lot of chances to either A: get an item you already have and be forced to either pass on it or do math to figure out if it's a total damage loss, or B: get an item you had locked in the shop and feel bad for not being a psychic.
@@JateGuitarhonestly I think it is the most “anti fun” and anti Brotato character because it takes two awesome unique mechanics (item stacking for cost benefit analysis and chasing the silly loot boys) and just says screw you
For the puffer fish, it depends on if you kill them with melee or ranged, not whether or not it is cursed. Killing it with ranged produces 8 projectiles, while killing it with melee produces 4 projectiles.
Really wish the curious had an icon for its passive next to items, maybe the curious icon with a green outline /green stars for eyes when it’s a new item and the icon with a red outline/red X’s when it’s a duplicate
I do have the feeling that diping into an elemental build is probably worth as much as the tech dip woth pocket factory or just single turrets. A snake and a hot sauce doenst cowt that much and items like the fried rice, the ice cube etc are so helpful and provide so many stat that i think it is always worth picking up a snake and a sausage if they show up… and of course the elemental dip and the tech dip work wonderfully together
The strange book hate is honestly hilarious. Like it gave 42 engineering? That’s 5 damage on all you weapons and a massively buffed medical turret. Like was it amazing? Maybe not but totally a good pickup. That medical turret was easily out healing the gardens and yet the gardens were given more value consideration. Fun run though and fun to watch!
@@Cephalopocalypse thing is? I find that free elemental damage flows fairly easily if you’re looking for opportunities. Unless you’re specifically in a Burn build… which you shouldn’t be… in Beta I consider Frozen Heart to be a mandatory purchase.
@@Cephalopocalypse I totally agree its a very "if you get lucky" kind of item but you did in fact get lucky. I am totally being very nitpicky lol, its just funny seeing it being disliked even when it does work out. Like no sarcasm just genuinely amused.
You could have checked the Coral by pausing the game, as the stats sheet is dynamically updated ;) Conclusion: the bonus regen is indeed granted immediately, making this a really good item.
i think the towers are just like the eggs where they start to hatch after a certain amount of time. and the lamprays do come from the blobfish this character has a cool concept. i like the loot alien stuff. it'd be cool if you could bring in more loot aliens somehow too. just a lot of downsides that make it a bit unbalanced i think. but i'd have to see more of it.
2nd brick broke at 12:59 with 7 seconds left in wave 6. When the first one broke with the last swing of the wave, I thought it may only happen as the wave ends.
I watched someone play the brick yesterday. I wasn't sure if you lost the whole brick or just a level. It's the whole brick and he lost one or more bricks pretty much every wave from mid-game to end-game. Seems like a bad weapon to me since you have to keep buying weapons.
bricks are actually great with characters who benefits/penaltised if not using multiple weapons, since its hits like a truck, and often cost less than you get when it breaks. But having it as a starter item is a bit anticlimactic. Mine bricked out in 3rd hit xD
It's good on arms dealer because he loses his weapons after every wave. He was already going to lose it but if it breaks late in the wave than he gets his money back.
I think the biggest upgrade to your damage in wave 13 was getting rid of the hammer. It knocked the loot alien half way across the screen every time it hit.
If you just skipped the crown you would have been able to buy the fairy and keep all your weapons! Hindsight is 20/20 but maybe don't get the crown on wave 19 shop just for style points lol Great vid though, I'm lovin this new DLC beta!
@@Cephalopocalypse Yeah but you could have high rolled something insane like lucky coin, hoodie, power generator, community support, giant's belt, etc.
I simply love character disgned with chaos. Forcing a randomized strategy is always fun. Well, the strange book actually works pretty well after all the multifunctional purchases. XD Also, why recycled the mirror. Is it not useful ? Is it not worth the gamble of -10% damage?
Chaos is a bit overpowered rn in general, ngl. It feels like any corrupted weapons better than any non-corrupted, and corruption affects stats on unique items as well, making some just winning the run by itself.
@@alanhong99 Well, not exactly huge. The only problematic part is corrupted enemies can recieve a regular buff as well, rendering them quite dangerous. Other than that its actually a buff, like +% enemy spawn.
@@sinner5452 i think a bit of luck will be needed in the first couple of boxes. If not, it is quite easy to be overwhelmed with the extra enemy health and lack of other duplicate efficient early items. Of course, with a bit of actual luck in the early stage, the game can be super easy on a total opposite path.
I think my game is somehow bugged or I don't understand something. I have all the DLC features but not the new graphics. Anyone got a clue what is wrong?
@JateGuitar i would just think that a 1 in 3 chance to flat out kill yourself while trying to heal, if you get that low to start with, would be a rough gamble. Of course by the time you would likely find torture your healing is on line anyway so it really doesn't matter much I guess.
That just means we can move all the points we were putting into survivabilty into offense instead. No point in investing in armor, life steal, and regen if you can't survive a single hit Dodge and tardigrade are still worth it as those will save you from getting one shot.
Brotato has gone down the route of Dead Cells, making everything harder in the wrong way. Less money and huge penalties = not fun. I hope the DLC will evolve
I hate this character. So, so badly. It’s so freaking hard to build a consistent stat scheme, and you can’t undo your mistakes if you accidentally click that second gecko. Goes triple if you like to go endless. Got my D5 win, probably never touching him again unless he gets serious revisions.

This IS only a beta, so hopefully they're working on smoothing out the new characters while everyone is busy playing the videogame. Then again, if the larger gaming industry has taught me anything, it's that most of the time when they say "open beta" they mean "this is basically early access and not much will change until after release".

I don’t much like this character. Feels like the design is fighting itself, as you can’t choose what you get out of crates at all. And a flat +2 to loot aliens seems uninteresting to me, rather see it be like +200% loot alien spawns, no harvesting modifications but you start with a bag, something like that.
Did you try playing with the Creature? I think it's the worst character I've ever seen, mods included. The starting weapons are just bad, the stat penalties uppon levelling up are way too harsh and the gimmick of having multiple items locked in the shop just doesn't work 80% of the time. Its actually pretty strong, 50% chaos scaling matters, especially for ranged weapons. But it requires some luck with hook indeed (or just another hook in the shop). Corrupted weapons are crazy good even by itself, but with added chaos scaling its just a machines of mass destruction. My winning run was with ghost scepters, since it synergise character pretty well - scepters need some damage to start kickin', and creature need some extra stats to compensate exp loss.
