(2017-2023) Kawasaki Versys 300x: DNA Performance Air Filter Swap - Does It Even Do Anything?

- The company DNA and I have been talking after seeing my original video in the "Project Royal Enfield" Series where i installed their Stage 2 kit on my Classic 350. I had a ton of positive things to say about it for that bike.
They have sent me a box with not only a DNA performance air filter for my 2017 Kawasaki Versys 300x, but a bunch of extra fun goodies.
So join me as i install and give you guys my honest thoughts on what the DNA is like for this relatively obscure motorcycle the Versys 300x. (I say obscure since i've never seen more than one other rider of the bike here in the Midwest)

6:20... The grease was actually applied incorrectly according to an Email from DNA.
You're actually suppose to apply it to the foam portion on the other side.
My mistake which has been corrected as of now... Hopefully in the future they do throw in an instruction that mentions which part the grease is suppose to be applied to.
ahhhhh good to know cause id done what you did
Thanks! I just bought or found a 2017 with 960 miles. is may 2024 so I am very happy an glad I got it for the weight so much better then what I was looking at to begin adv riding.. Good Vid!
congrats! ive had mine since 2017 and shes taken me all sorts of places and has needed very little love to keep on moving.
Thanks the video cant wait to order one
Great video I am going to order one and give it a try!
Thanks for the video!
I believe their claim of increased airflow is over the most restrictive paper element filters. A foam filter is already going to have high airflow compared to paper. I believe they used an oiled foam filter on the 300 because it’s actually intended to go off-road. Dirt bikes use big foam filters. They won’t get clogged with dust and choke the intake like a paper filter. That said, the stock foam filter doesn’t look like a great design. If I buy a 300 I’ll do the same filter with a Akrapovič slip-on and a flash tune. Thanks for the review to share the improvements you noticed and how easy it is to install!

Thanks for the video. I have the white and blue 2022 version of the VersysX
Thanks for that easy going informative review. Ill be ordering mine from Australia as soon as i finish this comment. Got a 3 or whatever months it takes ride around OZ mid year on my X300 so it sounds like a good investment. Cheers.
I'm not sure how the filter will perform in more dusty locations or off-road so do check it from time to time to make sure it's not getting dirty too quickly.
Thanks for quick reply. I'll take your advice on board and keep a close eye on dust and red dirt.
Thanks from Israel, ill try to order one and see how it does on my versys300
Any other modifications ? Ex. 15T sprocket or other performance mods like exhaust ?
My bike just has a yoshimura slip on. Im probably not going to ever change sprocket size.
how do you get your versys to 20+ mph in 1st mine dies off in first gear at like 14mph
That's weird, I've never had it top out it die on me at that speed
