Jim Morrison showed up very late for the show, (2-hours) and extremely drunk.
This is the famous show where Jim is alleged to have exposed himself.

On March 1, 1969, at the Dinner Key Auditorium in the Coconut Grove neighborhood of Miami, The Doors gave the most controversial performance of their career, one that nearly "derailed the band".Morrison had recently attended a play by an experimental theater group, The Living Theatre, and was inspired by their "antagonistic" style of performance art.The auditorium was a converted seaplane hangar that had no air conditioning on that hot night, and the seats had been removed by the promoter in order to boost ticket sales.Morrison had been drinking all day and had missed connecting flights to Miami, and by the time he eventually arrived the concert was over an hour late in starting, and he was, according to Manzarek, "overly fortified with alcohol".The restless crowd of 12,000, packed into a facility designed to hold 7,000, was subjected to Morrison's lack of interest in singing shortly into "Break On Through".Morrison taunted the crowd with messages of both love and hate, saying, "Love me. I can't take it no more without no good love. I want some lovin'. Ain't nobody gonna love my ass?" and alternately, "You're all a bunch of fuckin' idiots!" and screaming "What are you gonna do about it?" over and over again. At one point, Morrison removed and threw the hat of a police officer who was onstage into the crowd and the officer removed Jim's hat and threw it.Manager Bill Siddons recalled, "The gig was a bizarre, circus-like thing, there was this guy carrying a sheep and the wildest people that I'd ever seen".Equipment chief Vince Treanor said, "Somebody jumped up and poured champagne on Jim so he took his shirt off, he was soaking wet. 'Let's see a little skin, let's get naked,' he said, and the audience started taking their clothes off."Having removed his shirt, Morrison held it in front of his groin area and started to make hand movements behind it.Manzarek later described the incident as a mass "religious hallucination".
On March 5, the Dade County Sheriff's office issued a warrant for Morrison's arrest claiming Morrison deliberately exposed his penis while on stage, shouted obscenities to the crowd, simulated oral sex on guitarist Robby Krieger and was drunk at the time of his performance. Morrison turned down a plea bargain that required The Doors to perform a free Miami concert. He was later convicted, sentenced to six months in jail, with hard labor, and ordered to pay a $500 fine.Morrison remained free pending an appeal of his conviction, and would die before the matter was legally resolved. In 2007 Florida Governor Charlie Crist suggested the possibility of a posthumous pardon for Morrison, which was announced as successful on December 9, 2010. Densmore, Krieger and Manzarek have denied the allegation that Morrison exposed himself on stage that night
It seems that no one again will show so high energy, so great talent, intelligence, charisma
That's right, no artist will be able to use and exploit the human mind like Morrison anymore, thanks to his mysticism, his spirit, with the use of LSD he was able to explore the human mind in all its completeness and in fact he exhausted his energy in a short time.
I aspire to
Yeah drunken ranting can never be done again lol
It is amazing to me as a Singer that Jim goes from the raunchy voice to the crooner with such ease and total control of phrasing. He was very drunk since the flight coming into Miami International but he clearly is in total command and the Band are masterful in stage dynamics. This band was on fire and well rehearsed contrary to popular belief. What they did to Jim was clearly a trap and they knew he was going to make a mistake to get him out of the way. The Doors were being followed throughout that 69 tour and they knew that Miami was where they finally got him. It had nothing to do with exposure or inciting a riot. The Doors were a marked band and they were going to throw the book at Jim in Dade County. That's why he cut out to France no promoter would have stuck his neck out after this show. Yet in Mexico the Doors kicked serious ass. But it was too late.
Is this real? Where you got that info?
i hope the complete concert gets released on cd.
He makes me cry without tears!
We aren't (still) ready!
One of my Top 5 Doors Concert.. Ever ..!!
I was there. He was just a drunk that night.
And he DID not whip it out, according to false allegations..i moved to Miami, in 83', and it was kind weird, to see that airport hangar, before it was torned down.
@@michaelhegyan7464 COCONUT GROVE.
Patm. You were not there.
@@morrison1405 correct he wasn't .
Older sis..went to this concert..she was 18, just graduated HS, she mentioned it was hot as hell..and hell of a ride..
54 years later.
Man he's so drunk even if someone came up there and tried to love him he couldn't have. I'm sure he woulda tried, as I have. Which woulda been an even lovelier charge- public lovin'. And what's wrong with that?! Love ya Jim!
The band let Jim down big time. They knew he was in big trouble and did nothing.
It was the 60s, very different time from now. They didn’t have rehabs and when people drank or did drugs no one really cared, they just let them do their thing
How do you save somebody from themselves?
You can't save an addict. They have to want to stop.
In Rays book he describes how they had a meeting with Jim at Robbies parents house to attempt an intervention . They told Jim they were all very worried that he was killing himself with booze . Jim said he would try to quit and only managed to for a few weeks ..the rest is history .😢
The best performance ever.
My older sister went that concert. She graduated from HS, in 69'. All she mentioned, that it was incredibly hot, no air conditioning, and Morrison was wild..
Thing is that Jim was inciting the Miami beach cops while inviting girls to ,in his words "come up here and love my ass". It was a spectacle of a really shit faced drunk. He missed the ques on the song "touch me" and the band stopped. It was just an embarrassment .
@@patm5086 Ya, still a legendary show, but The Doors (when Jim wasn't 10000% drunk) were THE BEST live... absolutely THE BEST live, so it sucks some people hear this and think this is how they always preformed.
Robbie sounds good
It be nice if they could fix the audio on these old concerts.
King.
A man in pain...
Feeling no pain
The beginning of the end was this show- the rest was Camelot- the fall.
What the hell are you talking about? You're drunker than Jim.
I'd like to hear the New Orleans tape, which my have been just as drunk, but without criminal charges. Hopefully we'll hear it someday.
That must be a real shit show. I would love to hear that.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🦎👑
I've been listening to the podcast 37 club to discusses this concert in detail and the influence of the living theater on Jim Morrison. But it really sounds like a drunken mess
☢️🤩
With all due respect, you are not the owner of this video. I was at this concert.
Jimbo
🇨🇱✨👍🏻♥️😃
Que por qué subieron un cordero? El sacrificio... Iba a caer. Escarmiento social.
The lamb was brought by a guy Morrison knew. The owner was hoping to make a statement on animal rights and not eating meat.
I was there up in front off
To the side of the stage
No, you weren't.
Oda al Lizardo King
theres some parts going too slow. speed correction should be made i believe
Just put it on 1.25X
Jim Morrison and I adopted a cannibalistic voodoo witch doctor and named him ziggy.
