I have been really loving and appreciating all the fantastic doors music on this channel! This was a great performance. This one is special because I have so many great memories of the spectrum. I was not born yet when the show happened. I've seen everything at the spectrum from the circus to Metallica, at every game,show or concert there is always a great atmosphere inside and outside the spectrum, always high intensity for basketball and hockey and always a very fun wild and crazy atmosphere at concerts. I had some of the best times of my life at those concerts in the spectrum! The new place is just fine but it will never have the nostalgia of the spectrum.1 of my favorite shows at the spectrum was seeing the Grateful Dead's last show in Philadelphia, of course nobody knew it was going to be the last show. It was such a wild and crazy night with such great music with friends, it was fun to be young. I'm really enjoying all these amazing concerts (great sound, they all sound great), thank you so much for sharing your Doors Library with us! There's a killer on the road, his mind is... good luck and stay safe and🍾 keep it poppin🍾Gracias Amigo🌶

Philly in 1970 the Doors tour was one of a handful of big cities that allowed the Doors to play as Miami 1969 caused a lot of shows after to be cancelled because of looming Obscenity Trial of James Douglas Morrison(Poet,Actor & Singer)
The Beginning portion with the crowd and the fire marshall was just giving Jimbo more time to have a few brewskies before singing in Philly

He was sloshed in Boston. He was slurring his words. I have it on cd. It’s still good but he was messed up.
@@dynjarren8355 Yes, on the first show in Boston he was pretty drunk and that recording is merely a documentary of his... uhm, dark side. But, somewhat amazingly, he sobered up for the second show that night, which actually was not bad at all. But not close as good as this Philly show which is one of their best from the many live recordings that in recent years have emerged from 1970. Actually, none of the tracks here are represented on "Absolutely Live", which was compiled from live recordings 1969-1970.
I have yet too listen/ watch the Boston show . I saved it though, and now know that it could be disappointing?

This performance, it's not the entire recorded concert, it's missing the dialogue parts that were used from that show in Absolutely Live, which can be found as the first track on A.L. and it's also missing Jim's "Hey Philadelphia... do you feel alright? rant that came after Mystery Train..

The doors should not have cited this nonsense. They were a small intimate group with a spiritual feel to every show. Never meant to play disorganized stadiums such this. Even Coldplay in the early 2000s had to make a lot of adjustments to format their normally intimate setting shows with that tight hollow sound Jim loved so much. This is why Jim said rock was dead. The musical intimacy was trumped by masses of people messin around not keeping with fire code regulations. These big stadium shows ushered in bands like zeppelin, sabbath , Floyd etc. the band that would be then the pioneers of that big stadium sound we’ve all grown up up. As a musician there is something special about having a small intimate setting with your audience, but as the demands for bands increase so does the greed to maximize profits. Jim saw this years ahead of his time, he was even quoted” when asked, what do you foresee music heading as it evolved. His answer was astounding he said “I see music sort of shifting from black music “ to one man playing varieties of tapes mixed”. Remind you of something? He was foretelling the infamous black dj music of today. Now that my friends is the ultimate visionary. No band could ever compare to such uniqueness and perseverance I might add, they pumped out 5 records in 5 years and played thousands of shows. A hard working band to todays standards. Pioneers of the ultimate unknown. There is after all the known and there is the unknown, and in between, are the Doors.
