Thank goodness you rescued him. You truly understand him. I’m so glad you are telling everyone NOT to get a wild animal. I can’t believe any reputable veterinarian would declaw any cat much less a wild one!
Thank you🥰 I agree. People don't realize how DIFFICULT it is to raise a wild animal or bobcat. People want them for the wrong reason then don't want them anymore. As with any animal in your care....you MUST establish and manage alpha status or it can be a very dangerous situation. I'm pretty confident with Big. He's almost 7 yo and has been with me the majority of his life. It took some time to undo what original owner did and for Big to trust me totally. I can tell when Big wants left alone...or doesn't feel well. A sick wild animal is the scariest!! But you can't let them know you're afraid. THAT can be hard to do lol I'll try and make another video telling about the time Big was sick and acted Ike he'd never seen me before. Scared me to death but I went into another room until I could calm down AND get my heart rate down so he couldn't sense my fear. That was a couple of years ago and thankfully no more instances like that😳
@@BigBoybobcat2014 I live on 410 acres of old growth forest, pastures and swamp with a creek. During my 30 plus years of living here I have seen a plethora of wildlife, including deer, wild turkeys, opossums, raccoons, foxes, coyotes and even bobcats. Never for a moment have I thought of capturing a baby for a pet. I know you didn’t do that either! But I am baffled by people that do. I enjoy them in the wild, understand that I am in their territory and try and leave as unobtrusively as possible. I have come upon countless fawns curled up in underbrush and knowing the doe is somewhere unseen, I back away quietly. But every spring I hear of well meaning idiots that “found an abandoned fawn and take home to “save” it.” Again, so very glad you’re up to the challenge and demands of taking on the lifelong and arduous task of homing a bobcat! ( I have three rather large (nowhere near as large as Big) housecats that are almost a full time job and quite the expense to take care of properly.) so I can’t fathom what you have to do to take care of Big...though you do an exemplary job!😃
@@BigBoybobcat2014 that sounds terrifying. You're so brave! Thank you for all you've done for Big. He's beautiful. I would love to hear your story about when he was sick, I think it would offer such a rare perspective!
Totally agree, they are not house pets. We acquired a female Bobcat back in the mid 1980's, when I worked at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. I found a injured Bobcat cub off the side of the road on the way to Stennis one morning, on the drive from Hide-A-Way Lake, Mississippi, where we lived at the time. She must have been hit by a car, as she had a deep cut that ran from mid body on the right side, all the way back to her thigh. She had lost a lot of blood, and was very weak when found; and it took some serious surgery at the vet to save her. All in all, it was thousands of dollars and three months of recovery, to save her. Our two Maine Coon cats (brother and sister, about three years old at that time), adopter her, and more or less raised her. By then, she was between seven and eight months old, and had "sort of" become domesticated. So with the name Bobbet, she became part of our household. Still, she was mostly a feral wild animal, and quite a handful. She lived 18 years, before old age and kidney failure took her.
This is fascinating. What I can't fathom is the type of "handful" you're talking about... because with a regular domestic cat, a handful can be pissing on your bed as a sign of protest against something, or scratching you when you try to put them in the bag to get to the vet... So if that kinda thing happens with a bobcat, wouldn't you lose the entire bed or a couple of fingers ?
"Totally agree, they are not house pets...." Mrs Inky totally disagrees with you. Bobcats are just like us Living-room Lions because no feline has ever been domesticated, we just co-exist with humans, and those felines with no self respect even co-exist with horrible doggies. But we could eat you if we really wanted to. Of course we won't as long as you continue to open these things you call cans, but really we totally could eat you if we wanted to..."
@@davidhollenshead4892 As the surviving family members of elderly cat ladies have discovered when they finally do the wellness check and find poor old Auntie Kate deceased and partially eaten by her six adorable kitties. No matter what you do, cats gotta eat.
I agree.. I've never declawed any of my domestic cats😢 But I am known as the neuter/spay "cop" when it comes to domestic dogs and cats lol A neighbor wanted me to cat sit his new kitten. I told him not until he was neutered. He thought I was kidding until about 5 days before he was to go out of town😅 He had me make the appointment and take cat to Vet then he picked him up later that day. He didn't want his cat mad at him hahaha Btw...his cat still loves me and visits all the time😁 Too many homeless cats and dogs. Breaks my heart. I used to foster shelter animals but had to stop when Big moved in. I still try to go volunteer whenever possible. And take blankets.
I too am a spay/neuter “cop”! 😃 I’ve come out of my own pocket too many times to count when I hear of someone who has found a kitten/puppy, cat/dog but can’t afford to have neutered. The Rachel Ray Spay/Neuter program will help as well, the clinics around here did not advertise or let anyone know of this service, you have to ask! But it will cover all neutering costs, you will have to pay for rabies vaccine however, which is usually about $5.00.
As a kid we had a bulldog and a milk goat because my dad was a Navy Corpsman attached to a Marine Light artillery unit. We later got a enormous German Shepard Timberwolf Hybrid when its previous owner abandoned it. That dog LOVED cats…. One day it ran away and came home with a kitten…. kitten turned out to be a Bobcat. Bobcat was so bonded with the GSTW that we had to build a Cathouse on top of the Doghouse
Awwww! That's so sweet! I've had several bulldogs and they're great! And a German Shepard named Fraulein. Awesome dog!! The dogs I have now are both rescues. They loved my 20 yo cat Baxter. I had to have him put down last November. Big Boy is blind now and only likes to "play" with the dogs through the door. He wants them to lick his paws😅 I posted a video of that a few days ago🥰
For the record he certainly was abused by those people just by taking him from his mother so early, and declawing him. The declawing likely explains him not covering his #2's as you mentioned in another video! The pain/trauma, and preventing him from using his toes properly... he could still have chronic pain from it. Anyway thank you for adopting him and being someone he can trust so deeply, and for the videos. He is just beautiful
Declawing a normal, INDOOR, housecat isn't abuse. Indoor cats have no enemies, so declawing isn't wrong at all and protects the house from being destroyed. But, for a wild animal like a bobcat it IS abuse as such animals should be allowed to go outside, and not having claws means they can't climb trees like they're supposed to do, and they can't defend themselves well
@@tevarinvagabond1192 I very much disagree with this. Declawing any animal is abuse, it's like removing their fingers. Just because they're indoors doesn't mean they don't use their claws. They use them to climb, play even scratch an itch. Declawing is a convenience for the owner not the cat.
@@Ryan-ff2db This is the same argument vegans have against meat...they call eating eggs, meat, and any other animal product "abuse against animals" and then paint anyone that eats such things as evil wrongdoers that hate animals...that's not only false, but really egotistical and vain. How dare you act like you're the authority on what's good and what's not good! I love my cats and they lead good lives, they don't need their front claws as there's nothing to climb that even requires that (everything has steps, their cat tree platform has multiple levels that are easy to jump on and off), and there's no danger because they are indoor cats...my house is pretty large, and they have plenty of things to occupy themselves with, well fed, weekly catnip, all the toys they could ever want, and a loving family that are slaves for every cats' need and affection. Don't dare say my family has abused them when we rescued them and gave them a new life, a GOOD life. You don't even sound like you own a cat, or if you do you haven't had many and only have one currently
@@tevarinvagabond1192 Disabled people can live happy and fulfilling lives, that doesn't mean we intentionally disable them. You are worried more about you're house than the cat. You obviously have spent a lot of time justifying this in your head and I'm sure you love your cat but you did disable it.
Such a magnificent cat! I’m so sorry his claws were mutilated by some thoughtless person who thought more about what they wanted than what this amazing cat needed. Your sacrifice for him seems to be so much but you can tell he is a happy kitty in this case. But I’m sure he would be so much happier in the wild. Thanks for posting
Thank you for being such a responsible person and telling people not to try and make these animals into pets. I can tell you’ve made the best out of a difficult situation and you’re giving him the best life he could have, given the situation. Thank you for being a good hearted person.
@@jessicaalvarez2314no, unlike canines, felines tend to be more independent and not so good with being told what to do. If you are planning to have a bobcat for that reason that would be an irresponsible reason to have one and a quick way to ensure that it gets euthanized. I do not recommend people having them as pets but if you are going to have one make sure you do proper research and you are capable of the responsibilities it entails. Are you willing to afford the costs of feeding it, giving it the proper environment, are you willing to sacrifice your free time meaning no vacations because exotic pets suffer from really bad separation anxiety, are you capable of abiding by the conditions of your permit? If no, then do not even think about it, you are just going to be another one of these irresponsible people who do not know what they are getting themselves into and as the person in this video says dumps them at an overcrowded understaffed sanctuary.
Bless your heart for taking care of this beautiful bobcat. I appreciate how you present this video and educate people about why it's not a good idea to take one from the wild. Thanks for caring so much ...He is lucky you rescued him. I do hope people learn from this. I worked 2 yrs for a cat rescue facility with ferals and domestics mixed...it can be very rewarding but also heartbreaking...especially with ferals. It's more difficult with wild cats.
Especially with wild animals. You have to build up trust...which can be so very difficult and a long process. I can't stand people who abuse animals.....I think that's why I prefer animals to most people unfortunately...even a wild animal. Some people are just too mean and I just don't understand why. Heavy sigh......
My paternal grandmother had a male bobcat named Nappy. She found him as an abandoned kitten in the woods near her house in Kitty Hawk, NC, couldn't find mom so she took him home and raised him alongside her other cats. Nappy topped out around 40 lbs, hated everyone BUT my grandmother. He tolerated my dad and grandfather well enough but that bobcat would've laid down his life for Granny. He never showed any aggressive behavior that she ever spoke of. This, of course, was in the late 40's to mid 60's when you could do that. Today, I'd like to think she would've given the kitten to an appropriate wildlife agency but those were pretty thin on the ground in the backwoods swamps of Kitty Hawk at the time. I don't remember meeting Nappy as I believe he died a few weeks before I was born but I've seen his pictures and heard of his many, many exploits all my life. Big must be really happy. He's purring to beat the band and drooling. I used to have a Blue-point Siamese mix who would do that. Whenever he was really happy, he'd purr like an earthquake was going on and showers/ropes of drool would cascade out of his mouth like someone left the faucet on (no lie at all) while he would knead you to death. He was an 18 lb cat so when he kneaded you, you were well and truly kneaded.
but this guy is bigger, heavier, stronger. which means more food, more shit, more fur everywhere, more destruction, more damage to you when this guy is playful. do you often get scratches/bites by a kitty? now, imagine it's this kind of kitty - will it be a first aid kit kind of deal, or an ICU kind of deal?
ok, a cat the size of a dog... i would totally become a bobcat sitter for you. i would probably need a lot of reconstructive surgery but i would. bless you for turning your lives upside down to take care of this beautiful boy. i can hear in your voice how much you grieve for the stupidity of humans who do heartless things for novelty but you can tell how much you care about him. i think you deserve the world for not counting the cost, just doing what you felt was right in your heart.
I feel like de-clawing is ABUSE. But thank you for telling the truth about these wild animals. You are absolutely right. 💯 And God bless you for properly caring for this one. Your obviously one of the responsible humans who truly understands the cons of owning a wild animal.
I had a wild Bobcat in my yard today. I don't see them often here in Southern California. But I have many rabbits and ground squirrels on my land. I think it attracts predators. Beauty of a cat.
He DEFINITELY isn't a baby any longer. And he's STILL cute-as-a-button!!!!!! He's ALWAYS gonna be cute. And as cute as he is to ME, he'll probably and should remain as cute to you. I already LOVE him!!!!!
We don't have Bobcats in Australia but a few years ago, a feral cat locked onto me and basically said "You're my human". She was skittish and refused to interact with anyone at work but followed me home one night and never left. 3 years later she still won't warm up to anyone besides me, and she's kicked the crap out of most of the dogs and other cats in the neighbourhood. To say she's possessive is an understatement. I have to say that even though I'm not religious, I feel blessed. Having that sort of faith in my abilities is not something I hold, but she does. I just wish she'd stop bringing me live rabbits!
You are a gem of a woman for taking him because your lifestyle had to be adapted to this fantastic but troublesome (since he can never really be tame) animal. You explained his nature so well, which gave me insight into an animal I had never liked before (growing up in a farming community in Nebraska). But now, because of you, I like them, and I feel so bad that the former owner declawed him---that's a terrible thing to do to domesticated cats, let alone to this wild cat. God bless you; he likes being around you, wild or not. He is comfortable with you; if released, he wouldn't survive.
Look, I've got a bobcat, and its not *always* best for them in the wild. But Uncle is a special case. I feed raccoons, to keep my trashcans safe. When it rains, I open my back door, and put the food just inside. It was like that this night, and I was watching TV. I heard something come in and mess with the food. I knew I might have a raccoon hopping on my couch soon. One of them is like a housecat. What I didn't expect was a soggy, scrawny bobcat kitten/teenager to wobble into my living room and fall to his side next to my heater. He was out cold in no time. I got up, made sure the path to the door was clear for his inevitable wake-up freakout. Figured he was starving, so I mixed a pouch of sunkist tuna and salmon. And he showed no aggression. Woke up before I could set the plate down and took 2 bites with me still holding it. He napped more after eating. I was ready for bed. But I didn't want to boot him out in that state. I fell asleep on the couch. And I woke up with the cat laying next to me. I figured him out over the next two days. He was an old kitten, but barely skin and bones. He's also extremely, *abnormally* chill. You can pick him up by his back legs, and swing him around, and he just uses it as a good opportunity to stretch. He has an aversion to violence. He's gentle with me, wrestling immediately turns to him holding my hand and bathing me. He won't even kill bugs. He catches them carefully and brings them to me. Its a terrible habit. He even tries to snuggle the laser pointer. He's still clawed, and un-nuetered, but he's never scratched me or sprayed. I let him go outside every day, but he never leaves my porch, and gets nervous and cries if you physically put him in the yard. Its pretty clear how he ended up with me. His age and condition, means this was not long after mom stopped producing milk. And he refused to hunt, so he was starving. If I put Uncle back in the wild, it'd be no different than putting a bullet in him. But he's the most well-behaved housecat I've ever met. Just a loving, snuggly little (not little) fuzzball. He thinks the raccoon is his brother, and he treats my neighbor's chihuahua like its his kid. I like making friends with wild critters. Not out of some moral belief that they should stay wild, but because I'm lazy, and trash pandas are kitties you can pet and play with who aren't zoomie-ing around in your house at 3am. Uncle was a special case. It'd be cruel to force him out. He has his freedom. He's also not a pet. He's family. My only complaint is that he wants to snuggle every night, and you know how cats break the laws of physics, and take their 5lb weight, and with one paw, exert 800lbs of force? Yeah. Triple that. Swear that cat is gonna break a rib one day.
@@Volyren I'm glad that he found a safe place! When I said that bobcats should be in the wild I should have given a clearer remark. If they are injured or starving and need care, they should be taken in and treated. If able, then released back into the wild. I hope that Uncle is doing well.
Interesting to watch, I have been feeding a relative to the bobcat here in Norway, mother may have been dead, came to eat once a day, I did not let him in the house, but it was very friendly, purring and giving headbumps. After it became an adult I seldom see the animal, maybe once every 3 months....
We had a hybrid bobcat when I was young - not on purpose, but before we got her spayed one of our domestic cats had a pair of bob-kittens. We kept one. We had him fixed but I don't know if that helped discourage behavior excesses at all. You had to watch him every minute or he'd be getting into some kind of trouble. He was friendly and playful, but also short-tempered, territorial, clingy, and possessive. He was a rural indoor/outdoor cat so spraying/litterbox issues were outside the house. He got into absolutely everything. Occasionally kids get scratched when playing with cats - that's normal and we didn't really blame the cat. But in his case the scratches sometimes involved actual bleeding. We loved him and thought he was pretty special, but I don't think most folks want to put up with a cat that they have to pay that much attention to or be that careful of. He wasn't what most people want when they think of getting a pet.
He is adorable, and so are you! I know what having a bobcat in the house is like. Good friends had one when I was a kid. They actually installed doors just to keep him out of the kitchen/dining area as he kept marking it as his territory. It takes a special kind of human to care for them!
I agree with you, they belong in the wild. He is beautiful and I love his purring. Thank you for taking care of him - as he was declawed and neutered. That is sad that happened to him.
There's something the Lord has put in your spirit that makes Big Boy trust and accept you. For me it is WONDERFUL to behold!!! Especially with wild cats!!!! I only have experiences with wild "domestic" cats in the neighborhood. They come by and I feed them. And they KEEP coming by to sit on my lap and relax for a while before going off on they're various journeys. I LOVE them!!!! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE GOD'S critters!!!!!! I find them to be more loyal and trustworthy than man. And that's pretty sad to ME.
I used to call my domestic cat big boy He was a big cream coloured modern siamese with blue Cross eyes n a wobbly belly 😁 He was HUGE, not obese but in stature. he was easily this large; dogsize. I lost him in October and he was my soulmate who I miss everyday Thank you for uploading this lovely gorgeous Big boy of your own, it gives me a lot of comfort coz I see such familiar mannerisms in them both. Much love to you ❤❤❤
They use the toilet because in the wild the river or other bodies of water hides their scent to their prey. Thank you for the upload. What a beautiful kitty.
Wow lady .... you're a real hero to have rescued him !!! Thanks for explaining all that. I had no idea of the reality of having a Bobcat as a pet.... I'll never do it thanks to your enlightenment...
Your dedication is amazing..."De-clawing" may save ones furniture, but will completely ruin any cat. This big guy is lucky to find someone with such dedication. Your video made my day .Thank you...
Question?! Where does a Bobcat SIT..Pretty much the same answer to Where does a Bobcat LAY DOWN! Where-ever the HELL HE WANTS!! LOL A beautiful animal! Bless you for giving him a loving home!!
Such a beautiful boy he is. This is a very nice, well thought out video about adopting a big cat and that you respect he's a wild animal. More importantly you advise (correctly) not to take them for granted or have them just because a person can. He's very fortunate to have met you and that you've been able to take care of him as you have. To me it is 100% wrong that someone declawed him. That's just cruel.
Blessings to you for rescuing him and taking care of him. Declawing is a form of mutilation that carries long term discomfort. What ever folks think they are doing destroying the health of these creatures and trying to domesticate them is way over the line.
I would never want a wild animal as a pet but this allows me to be a fly on the wall with these videos and see what caring for these animals is like. Good job by the way.
The woman thinks she knows more than she does. Bobcats make fine pets as long as you know what you're in for and have plenty of room for them. The same goes for mountain lions and both are smarter than housecats.
Such a sweet and beautiful boy. It's a shame he was not able to be rehabbed and returned to the wild, but he's in the best place he can be based on his circumstances. Your insight is greatly appreciated. As beautiful as he is, it's good to know he does not make a great pet.
He is beautiful I think it should be illegal to mutilate any living being it’s horrible and cruel no cat should be declawed ever ! I’m so glad someone is taking care of him 🐾🙏🏼🐾💜🐾
Such a beautful, and HONEST video. Thank you. These big cats are majestic and amazing but they have no place being cooped up in a house. There are so many domestic felines, regular cats, that need homes instead. That said, I am so glad you rescued this big boy.
What a beautiful animal and how bad he was treated, I feel sorry for him. You did a great job here lady. All blessings to you! Any vet that declaws cats should be taken to court, or to a hospital to remove their finger tops and their license should be revoked for life.
My cousin had a bobcat/tabby cross (not sure what to even call it). He was a big boy, about 30 lbs, and he looked and acted like a bobcat. I lived with him for 3 years, and on my first night there I got my @$$ shredded when I tried to shoo him outta my room. Once the bleeding stopped, I walked up, pinned him down (not violently, but he was strong) to establish dominance. Ever since then he was my best friend. I've never seen a cat with so many different vocalizations. He meant more to me than any pet I ever owned myself. He was a handful, but when you put that much into a relationship with a not-so-normal cat it makes it so much more rewarding. Especially when he scared the pizza guy.
How funny!! Big makes different growling sounds for when he's happy, mad or sick. Or just telling me no lol Big's about 50 lbs and very strong! And people don't realize that you MUST establish alpha...especially when living with a wild animal with wild animal instincts. There are days that Big will test me....but my Dyson always puts him back in his place. I just have to touch it....not even turn it on🤣🤣 But that's the last resort. Usually a firm NO will do the trick. He'll be 8 yo in May so we've pretty much fallen into a routine.....a crazy one but still....😊
In addition to what Lil Weasel said, natural bob tailed all domestic breeds exist. Off the top of my head, Manx, Pixie Bob, Japanese Bobtail, American Bobtail, Highlander, Kurilian Bobtail, etc. Some cat breeds like Maine Coon (a GIANT breed. 25lb is normal, a 30lb male is reasonable) have the ear tip hair like bobcats and come in tabby too. It was likely a bobtail & Maine Coon cross, or a MC with a tail injury that caused it to lose most of the tail. It's just not possible to cross a bobcat & domestic.
@@BigBoybobcat2014 I’m having trouble with my 4 year old male domestic. He is more like a feral/wild cat. He and his 2 sisters were found dumped at 2 weeks old, and my daughter and I hand-raised them. I’ve had him with me since he was 9 weeks old, his sisters are with my daughters. He is usually sweet and placid, but he is very big, growls like a dog, isn’t super cuddly but wherever I am he is, and he is definitely a one person cat… but he started to become aggressive at about 2 years old. I resonated with you saying that Big trusts you more than you trust him. I’ve never had this issue with a cat before, and I wonder if he was a feral kitten. He’s fine 99.99% of the time, but occasionally he’ll just change, his eyes go black and he lunges and bites, his jaws are so strong that even if I get him to let go he just latches on somewhere else. I’m getting to be a more senior citizen, so my bones and skin are a tad more fragile these days.. he scares me, and I’ve had cats all my life, but not one like this. How do you assert dominance over a cat? I haven’t been able to figure out what is going on in his head that sets him off like that, because there’s no warning or trigger.. he just gets mean. Does the Dyson work for you every time?
I wouldn’t worry about the craft room. If people don’t like it they can always go to another channel!!! Thank you for taking this beauty in. Even if he is a cantankerous old man! 😆
A beautiful cat, and he's purring through the whole video. But I can see how this is not a pet cat just by looking at his expressions. Like he knows he's supposed to be doing something else, somewhere else.
it always amazes me how smart these wild animals are. Even though they're wild, they know a good deal when they see one...they open right up to good souls and know who's going to take care of them and who isn't. God bless you both.
Thank you for all these delightful videos. Always an engaging portrait of two friends. And, yes, viewers should heed your messages about keeping these cats in the wild. Far too many in this world want designer pets. Until they don't want them anymore.
So so true!! The original owner never established alpha and became afraid. I had to establish and maintain alpha status or it would be a dangerous situation for sure. Well...maybe my Dyson is more alpha to him lol. He hates the vacuum. I try to vacuum when he's outside so he doesn't get stressed or scared.
"Demanding and messy, domesticated but not tame, can destroy your house, curious, nosey, etc." You just described nearly every "house cat". A cat is a cat. My cat sprayed after he was fixed also. This bobcat is a house cat, look at his behavior.
You certainly have given him the second best life possible since he was stolen from his natural life. You have dedicated your life to giving him the best life possible without being in the wild. He has it extremely good and that makes you an angel. What a pampered, happy, spoiled big kitty. If he could tell all the other “Bobs” he would say to them he has it made. Bless you. I say if they absolutely cant be in the wild they need to be with someone like you. Unfortunately not everyone is as awesome as you. I have no doubt he is as happy as possible. Thanks for the vids and thanks for trying to make people understand that wild animals are suppose to be pets but need to be pampered if they cant be in the wild.
That vet should lose their license for agreeing to declaw a BOBCAT of all things. Unbelievable. He's so gorgeous and obviously very well cared for with you.
They should face mandatory prison. I've cared for five cats at a time and none of them were declared. It's now illegal in NYS, thankfully. My first two cats in my family were declawed because we were a dog only family. My sister and I each had got a cat when we were teens and they were declawed in the front paws and it traumatized me for life. We knew the Vet, so we got back my cat quickly.....too quickly. It's a horrifying procedure and people who desire this procedure should not be cat owners. I'm an adult now and I have three cats. One I rescued off the street last year and he's 10 to 12 years old and I have another female who is older than six, but I took her in too and don't know her age. She's always been healthy.

I live on 410 acres of old growth forest, pastures and swamp with a creek. But every spring I hear of well meaning idiots that “found an abandoned fawn and take home to “save” it.”
Again, so very glad you’re up to the challenge and demands of taking on the lifelong and arduous task of homing a bobcat!
No reputable veterinarian ever would. More likely, someone tranqed him and used nail clippers. It's barbaric, and DIY.

Poor baby. He was robbed of a life in the wild by a selfish person. So glad you have given him a home he can be content in. He is so precious ❤
Maybe we were all also robbed of a life in the wild, living in a cave or by a campfire.
That's so amazing that you put in the effort to save her and then adopted her. Hats off to you!!!
"Totally agree, they are not house pets...."
Mrs Inky totally disagrees with you.

I think de-clawing should be illegal. That's like purposefully damaging the wings of a parrot so you don't have to keep it in an aviary or cage...
I agree.. I've never declawed any of my domestic cats😢
But I am known as the neuter/spay "cop" when it comes to domestic dogs and cats lol
A neighbor wanted me to cat sit his new kitten. I told him not until he was neutered. He thought I was kidding until about 5 days before he was to go out of town😅 He had me make the appointment and take cat to Vet then he picked him up later that day. He didn't want his cat mad at him hahaha
Btw...his cat still loves me and visits all the time😁
Too many homeless cats and dogs. Breaks my heart. I used to foster shelter animals but had to stop when Big moved in. I still try to go volunteer whenever possible. And take blankets.
Declawing is inhumane.
I too am a spay/neuter “cop”! 😃
I’ve come out of my own pocket too many times to count when I hear of someone who has found a kitten/puppy, cat/dog but can’t afford to have neutered.
The Rachel Ray Spay/Neuter program will help as well, the clinics around here did not advertise or let anyone know of this service, you have to ask! But it will cover all neutering costs, you will have to pay for rabies vaccine however, which is usually about $5.00.
True
But you can try to give him a nice manicure
Just don’t cut too deep otherwise it’ll hurt him.
Yeah! I found out it's like cutting off their fingertips at the joint!! :(
He’s lovely, very handsome, and I’m sorry the prior humans mutilated him. He is a gift and you folks are also wonderful.
Thank you 😊
@us1fedvet you've summed up everything important beautifully in just those two sentences.
That's a cool wolfdog story
WoofDawg
wow....nice childhood memories....lucky you.
My sister's dog lost her puppies and then came home with some baby rabbits. She lives on a farm.
He wants them to lick his paws😅
I posted a video of that a few days ago🥰
For the record he certainly was abused by those people just by taking him from his mother so early, and declawing him. The declawing likely explains him not covering his #2's as you mentioned in another video! The pain/trauma, and preventing him from using his toes properly... he could still have chronic pain from it. Anyway thank you for adopting him and being someone he can trust so deeply, and for the videos. He is just beautiful
Thank you 😊
Declawing a normal, INDOOR, housecat isn't abuse.
@@jessicaalvarez2314
I doubt it.

Would be awesome to hear some of the bobcats stories.
Nice one 😸
Thank you 😊 💓 I love hearing these stories ❤
All of your reasons about Bobcats not being good pets made me laugh because it could equally apply to my house cats.😂
but this guy is bigger, heavier, stronger. which means more food, more shit, more fur everywhere, more destruction, more damage to you when this guy is playful. do you often get scratches/bites by a kitty? now, imagine it's this kind of kitty - will it be a first aid kit kind of deal, or an ICU kind of deal?

We don't have Bobcats in Australia but a few years ago, a feral cat locked onto me and basically said "You're my human". She was skittish and refused to interact with anyone at work but followed me home one night and never left.
3 years later she still won't warm up to anyone besides me, and she's kicked the crap out of most of the dogs and other cats in the neighbourhood. To say she's possessive is an understatement.
I have to say that even though I'm not religious, I feel blessed. Having that sort of faith in my abilities is not something I hold, but she does.

Thank you 😊 💓
Bobcats are my favorite wild cats. So good of you to take him in. And yes, they should be left in the wild. He's beautiful!
The “wild” ain’t what it used to be
@@Volyren I'm glad that he found a safe place!

Hes like "Why the fuck would I want to be rehabilitated the wild doesnt have beds".
I just love hearing all these stories 😍 ❤

He is adorable, and so are you! I know what having a bobcat in the house is like. Good friends had one when I was a kid. They actually installed doors just to keep him out of the kitchen/dining area as he kept marking it as his territory. It takes a special kind of human to care for them!

From what I've read, wildcats form very strong, permanent bonds, with humans.
Such a beautful, and HONEST video. Thank you. These big cats are majestic and amazing but they have no place being cooped up in a house. There are so many domestic felines, regular cats, that need homes instead. That said, I am so glad you rescued this big boy.

Any vet that declaws cats should be taken to court, or to a hospital to remove their finger tops and their license should be revoked for life.
I can't imagine waking up, going down stairs to make some coffee, and every time a bobcat out of nowhere starts slapping me on the head lol
That's a sweet, kind lady with lovely southern accent. I hope you and Big Boy and are well and getting along.
Or just telling me no lol
Big's about 50 lbs and very strong! And people don't realize that you MUST establish alpha...especially when living with a wild animal with wild animal instincts. There are days that Big will test me....but my Dyson always puts him back in his place. I just have to touch it....not even turn it on🤣🤣
But that's the last resort. Usually a firm NO will do the trick. He'll be 8 yo in May so we've pretty much fallen into a routine.....a crazy one but still....😊
you cannot cross donestic tabby cats and bobcats. They are not even in the same genus.
It's impossible.
Lol. Scared the pizza guy. I can just see that.
Her voice sounds so exhausted ... I guess that's comes along with such a big cat
I wish I could have a lynx. Because they're so cute! Such a lot of purrs and attitude in one kitty!
But no, they're better off roaming free.
And life consuming apparently. They are super cute. I've thought of a Savannah but decided no after research
You are a kind soul, thank you for taking care of this mythical predator.
Awwww🥰 Thank you so much!!!🥰
I hear the frustration in your voice about him. But you're amazing for taking that poor boy in.
@@BigBoybobcat2014 Get a robovac. He'll go for a ride! he he
@@texleeger8973 Lol. He'd probably slap it or jump up on something trying to hide from it.
Thanks for PROPERLY caring for this Bobcat. Ideally it should be in the wild, but He didn't have that option.
"Demanding and messy, domesticated but not tame, can destroy your house, curious, nosey, etc." You just described nearly every "house cat". A cat is a cat. My cat sprayed after he was fixed also. This bobcat is a house cat, look at his behavior.
He's just stronger with bigger teeth and a much bigger attitude 🙂
A cat is not a cat. Wild cats, even smaller ones, are on another level with their "catness".
Its such a shame whats happened to him but I'm happy that at least he's found you. Thanks for the informative video.
Thank you 😊
That huge sigh after " He's got a HUGE litter box " had me rolling.
🤣🤣❤
Beautiful bobcat! He was diggin those chin scratches
You are so wonderful. Declawing is awful and should be illegal, you are educating people on what pets not to have. Thank you for this❤❤😻
That vet should lose their license for agreeing to declaw a BOBCAT of all things. Unbelievable. He's so gorgeous and obviously very well cared for with you.
I agree 100%. Declawing dooms a bobcat to a life of captivity. Thank goodness Big has the purrrrfect home.
Oh my God, he's so beautiful. What a lovely cat. I love him so much. I've always loved bobcats and also raccoons. If I had a large property, I would love to have them outdoors.
@@QUINTUSMAXIMUS Thank you 😊
He's my first bobcat ❤ I've raised 2 skunks from birth, a raccoon and a squirrel. I prefer animals to most people 😘
Big's almost 11 yo now and blind but he's still my baby❤
Poor big boy. Good on ya for helping him! I have a six year old stray, that we found when he was 3-4 months old. He's still with us, and he's still a little wild, but sweet. He's 17# of adorableness😬
I had the pleasure to meet two bobcat kittens in Oklahoma, Rose & Sancho. Rose slept with me (and peed in my boots) for a few nights. Thank you, Danny & Sandy S.!
LoL that daw' gone Rose blessed ya!!
I imagine it would likely be difficult to get a vet to attend them without reporting it as well. There'd also be other social limitations besides the ones mentioned/alluded to.
What a handsome, sweet, wild boy
So handsome and precious. HUGS and GOD bless you all 🤗.
Thank you 🥰
If I wasn’t so damn old myself, I would love to take Big Cat off your hands. All my kids have grown and go to UH Manoa now.
He looks so sweet and I’m so use to training my own cats that I raised and bottle feed when I was asked to take them last year.
BTW, I just subbed your channel today. Everyone says that I have a way with animals and I do. I’ve been around wild animals all my life, especially when I lived in Vietnam. I can’t say that I’ve run any animals that I was afraid of, yet.
Well, I look forward to watching more of your videos of Big Cat. Mahalo 🤙🏻
