In this movie, the Spanish turn up at the end, destroy the McGuffun that everyone is fighting over, declare it an abomination before God and then leave.
This is the most accurate depiction of the Spanish Empire ever put to film.

That scene to me is the best part of the movie. After the mermaid part.
One of my best friends is fairly religious. When a bunch of us went to see the movie in theaters, I think it was obvious that he enjoyed that bit of the film way more than the rest of us. I thought it was a fantastic touch to have that happen myself, but he was beyond thrilled.
I've never understood people like that. They claim only their god can grant eternal life, yet we know that Fountain can, so clearly that's not true. Also, these people believe that their god created the world and everything in it, so surely they'd also believe he created the fountain too. Religion makes no sense man.
I recently learned that the guy who gets shot holding the flag at the fountain was the guy who said Jack was the best pirate he’s ever seen in movie 1 and 3.

Kinda sad he is gone. But he being in the 5th wouldn't make sense because of almost no Navy there.

Fun Fact: there is a deleted scene where one of the mermaids slaps Jack in the face like all the other women do. It's been confirmed that Jack had a relationship with her years prior to the events of the movie.

One thing I love about this movie is if you look at everything Jack does during his meeting with the king, you realize that every little thing he does is setting up his escape. Like he even threw a napkin on the floor so one of the guards would slip on it. Mans a genius!
In a fight Orin his case an escape, always think 3 steps ahead.
people kept wondering if he was just lucky or magic with his escapes, so this was a behind the "scenes" look for the audience to see he actually in fact plans it all beforehand, as his greatest cheerleader wondered out loud in the 1st film
Fun fact, this film is set after Blackbeard's reported death. They actually acknowledge that in this film, that Jack had heard Blackbeard was dead.
It's mostly everyones headcannon that Angelica having Jacks doll is the reason Jack doesn't feel like Jack in Pirates 5.

My headcanon is that Pirates 5 never happened.
It doesn't say it in the movie but the reason Blackbeard is able to control ships at will is because he possesses the Sword of Triton. Triton is the son of Poseidon and a lesser god of the sea, and according to legend the sword was forged by Triton in the lost city of Atlantis. One of the three sapphires of Triton was embedded in the hilt of the sword, granting it the power to bring dead matter to life.
Ships would literally come alive under the person wielding the sword and the wielder could even control other ships to attack their own crew with rigging, sails, and among other things. Its power is diminished while away from the sea and from any ships, so that was pretty much your only savong grace if you came face to face with the one holding this sword.
Blackbeard's ship uses Greek Fire. It is so potent that not even water can extinguish it so it was a knightmare in naval warfare. Fortunately the recipe for it has been lost to history and to this day has never been successfully replicated.
Not completely true, it is essentially napalm. Scientists have made several concoctions that may have been it but we with current knowledge will never know if any of them was actually it.
The core ingredient is Naptha, the reason why we don't replicate it is because it's hilariously outdated.
Trust me, we've got worse things nowadays than Greek fire.
I vea always thought Black beards ending was so fitting. He was willing to let her own daughter die if that mean he could keep on living and doing horrible things not just crimes like most pirates. The fact that he was a cold blooded and relentless individual who had the guts to call jack trickster and devil is hilarious considering he was a human piece of garbage

In this one Jack was less goofy/weird than the others, since he took on the the big hero moments that in the previous films would've been at least split with Will.
Probably also due to that fact that at this point Disney was trying to get rid of him because of the false accusations from Amber. So Jonny is/was dealing with a lot.

It's the opposite for me. I found 5 to have a better plot and more interesting villain than 4.
5 and 4 have very good villains, and funnily enough the Spanish are in both. 5 had the problem of how and when Jack became captain in there, and also the timeline, it didn't look like it happend that much time, but Will's son is a teenager there. Also Will turning into a sea being.
The fourth movie was so criminally underrated. I’m my opinion, it’s much better than the 5th one but still enjoyed the first 3 a little more.
Besides this reaction being great, I gotta give Boom props for that Full Metal Alchemist reference. P.S There is a fan theory about why Jack is so lucky and knowledgeable about most things including his hunt for like the mythological places like the fountain of youth and ect, They say he was a God of mischief and was forced to be human after annoying the other gods.

it was less for mercy and more for spreading his legend. Blackbeard's greatest weapon was his legend and he did everything he could to be so terrifying that people wouldn't even try to fight him. You can't really get a legend if nobody lives to tell the tales
Mermaids are tied to sirens in they are fish woman but they lure males with their song to eat them. Also her name Syrena is the spanish version for mermaid

@@marmyeater actually siren has different meanings culturally, just because it was referred to bird-like creatures at first doesn't mean it can't be both. It can ALSO be a way to call mermaids. So much that the therm (or maybe it's origins) influenced other languages.
In Spanish and Italian mermaid is "sirena" and in Portuguese we, Portuguese speakers, say "sereia". Wich is obviously inspired by/ more similar to siren than mermaid. In fact, I don't even know any language that uses anything similar to "mermaid".

I can never stand people who jump on the “I hate the 4th and 5th movie, don’t watch them” wagon. Like, watch and judge for yourself! I like them, some like one, some like the other, some don’t like them. It’s not for ANYONE else to decide whether or not you should watch them! I’m most certainly glad you’re watching all of them!
Love both, but less 5 because of 3(4 if counting time that has passed) things, still like the rest of the film very much.

The thing about Royalty is (1) many of them got to be there by being the biggest most competent bastard around and when they weren't there usually was someone who was that prefering to be in the background manipulating them while having another target. Films rarely show that side of things. (2) when that wasn't the case many people liked having the symbol regardless of the state of the current incumbent and in many of those cases the royalty was often circumscribed and more a symbol than having any actual power.
Barbossa's sword grew 10 times thicker that day...take that statement as you will. 💜
It’s not related to this particular reaction, but the pilots for Gravity Falls, Amphibia, and Owl House just got released! I think it be great if you guys and H-Man could react to them, especially since you’ve all finished each series. I think you guys would love them and see how they compare to the final products.
Edit: As it turns out, those episodes and clips might have actually been leaked, not released. They're pretty copyright-heavy, so I guess they're probably not something great to react to. That's a shame, but I'd still recommend watching them on your own time.

In the animated movie Sinbad the only woman on the pirate ship was the only one not enchanted by the sirens' song. Idk if that's the case for sirens in general or if it was just for that film

Barbossa was a real pirate, or corsair and he notoriously terrorized the seas though his full name is Hayreddin Barbossa. He was so good that the Ottoman Empire just hired him and made him lead the Navy and continued to take ships, lead fleets, and conquer cities. Mostly terrorizing the Spanish Empire. He lived a good life and retired and died at his seaside palace.
I must confess I’m impressed with how well you guys remember the secondary characters. Lieutenant Gillette (slashed by Blackbeard) and Lieutenant commander Theodore Groves (shot by the Spaniard) have been present since the first movie. Groves would become well known in the first three films as the naval officer working close to Norrington and Beckett who expressed his admiration for Jack. It’s a shame they both died, but they both lived longer than anyone would’ve predicted, plus everyone must die sometime!!!
LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the best lego games in my opinion

The online pirate game for pc "Pirates of the Caribbean Online" was a fantastic game. They shut down but the fans of the game wanted to play it so bad so Disney allowed them to bring the game back as "The Legend of Pirates Online" but couldnt make people pay for any type of currency or anything on it. So they brought the game back for everyone and the membership you needed for certain things are available to everyone now
The thing about the old pirate is he's in a profession where many don't grow old so for him to be the age that he is, he's gotta be good at it.
Once the movies are done, There are hour long making of these films on UA-cam. That would make for a great reaction, How they did the ship battles and costumes etc!

if i have to has one good thing about this one, that would be how it portrayed jack's competence. imo this movie is where jack is the most magnificent.
if you think even after the first 3 movies he is a pushover, this one should change your mind. the amount of times he threw hands and think on his feet, i believe, was quantifiably more then every other movies.

Ah yes, Pirates 4. The epilogue to Jacks character. It has its issues but overall its still a fun movie to watch. Sometimes I wonder how another Pirates movie would look like, but I think its best to leave well enough alone.
I find weird how a movie that was teased and set up at the end of the previous one can feel so much like a spin-off, rather than a direct continuation... with the cast being chopped down to only three (four if counting Jack's father) characters from the previous and the implication that many beloved characters just died off-screen... but that's mostly the only really negative aspect of the movie (having way less naval moments coming in second) for the rest It is still an enjoyable and harmless chapter of the PotC's franchise... the 5th one however will be a riot...

The video games are honestly better than i would have expected, especially the lego one that was a fun romp, but even the ds games are surprisingly good.
I think one of the hidden strengths of the original Pirates trilogy is that they had a healthy balance between goofy adventures in pirate land and serious drama and action with their three main characters, Jack, Will, and Elizabeth, and in Pirates 4 they focus too heavily on Jack and it feels like extra drama story is going on in the background. We hardly get development for Serena and the religious guy, and it feels like Angelica’s motivation flips on a dime because she learns stuff off screen, it’s more messy
I don't get the hate for this movie. 3 will always be my favorite but I still really like this one.
I think, and this is my opinion, it changes alot subtly enough that is is concerning and then 5 happened. 4 is fun, not as great but then 5 happened and it kind of...made it the downfall...
