Tons of common sense here… budget and space drive your choices, then features and ‘wants’ make the decision BUT also be comfortable with your your subscription costs as well. Not laying this one on you Joe, but I wish someone knowledgeable without an agenda would do a cross the spectrum review of projectors. It should include things like price, brightness requirements, throw ratio, aspect ratio, keystone and focus adjustments. Myself I ended up using all the budget on the EyeMini so had to settle for a budget 65” side mounted tv screen. Not upset about that, the heart of golf sim is the launch monitor & I now have the best photometric one I could afford to build around. But perhaps next year a projector may be possible and like monitors so much can go wrong trying to get a capable budget projector appropriate for your space.

Subscription costs! Yes you raise a really good point mate. I'll definitely add that into the next video I do like this... It's a really good point that you need to take into account for the "life" of the launch monitor.
Projectors! Yes absolutely. That might be something I tackle in the future. 🙏

Really well done video and great advice. For anyone considering a BLP it’s a great device but I think most people should get the 2k option without club data. Mine includes it and I really don’t use it.

Thanks mate! Yeah tbh good quality ball data like the GC3 gives is going to be good for most people. And it's great for putting and chipping as well.

Excellent information!!! If you have the space, bang for buck, nothing beats the Flightscope Mevo Plus!!

Thanks Greg I really appreciate it. The Mevo plus definitely has a lot of pros that's for sure! It's a great device. I do love how they don't have subscriptions.

Overheads are something I'd absolutely love to try and the Protee VX looks incredible. Hopefully one day in the future I'll get the opportunity to try one! 🤞

Hi Joe, lots of good points here. One thing about budget, its not just the initial outlay but the Total cost of Ownership. Unfortunately there's the dreaded subscription model- both for the launch monitor and the simulator software. I've currently got an MLM2Pro which needs a post year 1 subscription, and I've also got GSPro which is also subscription based. Total for the two each year is $550USD + special marked balls for MLM2Pro. I'm just testing a 2nd hand Mevo+ at home with the RCT balls- no subscription, and the option to purchase 12 course E6 for a one off $200 (works on IOS and PC). GSPro is the best simulator software but do you really need it if you are just using the launch monitor for practice?
Old GC2 are dropping slowly in price- no subscription required, but no manufacturer support.
Some interesting new launch monitors coming out soon. Sub £1000UK for an accurate optical LM, with no subscription, no special balls (or widely available PIX balls) and free simulator software. That's the next price barrier to cross- hopefully in the next 6 months.

Also Region Locking!!! The price points available in the USA are not available in the UK. I recently bought some RCT balls. The cheapest place according to Google was from the EU- but I couldn't buy them initially because Titleist try to stop shops selling into different regions. The EU shop ended up selling them to me for £48 (including postage) for 12. UK price £70! Makes me angry 😲

All very very valid points. And yes I really regret not putting the total cost of ownership into the video... It's definitely something I'm going to point out in my next video that I put out on this.
Like you said, there are some really amazing units out there that don't need subscription like the gc2 mevo plus. And I agree if you're not going to play Sim golf then you don't need GS Pro.. using just a basic range software like awesome golf or something like that is going to be absolutely fine! Even just the stock standard range that comes with the units is going to be fine if you're just after data.
The exciting thing about this space is there are new units coming out and this is only just the beginning!

I absolutely feel you with this. Australia is the worst mate... The price we pay for things is double and also we don't get things like the BLP. We are very limited with our options and the options we do have are generally Sky high

@@JLagGOLF Also Optishot Nova- virtually no reviews. Still a beta product but could be good if they improved their pricing towards £1000GBP. Includes Simulator software- no subs. No GSPro integration 😞

Subscription fees to use the hardware are killing sales for these companies. Just let me buy the hardware for a higher price and use it as I want!

    • @JLagGOLF
      @JLagGOLF  4 дні тому

Yeah, subscription fees are definitely a pain for us as the end consumers... There are some launch monitors though that still don't have subscriptions like the mevo plus and Protee VX! I guess the good thing about subscription fees are the companies are going to keep supporting the product and they're going to have consistent money coming in to be able to do updates and maintain the unit for longer.. So it's annoying for us as the end consumer, but potentially it could be better in the long run.

Hi Joe, do you use cat ethernet cable to the computer or does eye mini work with wifi? I noticed that uneekor recommends to use ethernet.

If I’m being completely honest, I really am second guessing my purchase of the Skytrak+. The side spin and club head speed inaccuracy readings are driving me insane. Also no AOA not being a data point is a huge downside as well. I may spend even more money in the near future for a better LM. I had high hopes for the Skytrak+, I’m disappointed… but that’s just me, what do I know?🤷🏽‍♂️🤣

I'm leaning towards the Eye Mini Lite. Someone just released a UNEEKOR connector for GSPro that doesn't require a sub making it an even better deal.

@@masterofpupets54 I’m holding off until a gentlemen that Mr. Joe knows that is working on his own LM. He has a video on his channel of it in the works. I followed the guy after watching it and messaged him about my interest in buying it once it launches. It seems to be the answer for home simulator options! No sub to GSPro? That’s a steal!🤣

That's odd, I didn't have any issues with the actual data from the unit... The issues I had were the tiny hitting window, And then the chipping and putting wasn't great. Well to be honest, the putting was pretty horrendous. But the actual data I got from the unit was fantastic.
Sorry to hear you're having trouble mate... I personally wouldn't purchase the sky track plus myself especially for my situation. The good thing is they do sell second hand quite quickly!

@@JLagGOLF I probably won’t get rid of it until your friends LM is on the market. I guess I’m just being too picky about it. I mean, spending 3 grand for a LM is a huge upgrade from the R10. It’s still fairly new on the market so I’m sure they’re aware of the issues and are working on fixes. I’m going to keep it and continue to see if it improves.
