I love my Garmin R10, but only because of Awesome Golf!! Works great with or without RCT balls. Love downloading the data and pouring through it.and the Coaching & gapping modes on Awesome golf are special! Thanks for the reviews.
Suggestion for you. You should do a 2024 Update on this but with emphasis on Simulator Courses and what additional Hardware is required.. Like Dedicated Laptop or iPad or Android Device..
Space is another category. The MLM2Pro needs the least room indoors to operate vs the R10. But not sure any the Sc4. The mlm also is the only one that's radar and camera based for the most accurate numbers. When you go to the range and don't have the specialized balls, you still get dispersion, which I'm told calculates the spin in the background. The other 2 just calculate full time since they don't have cameras.
Same here, wish the R10 had the shot tracer, then it would be a lot easier considering all the extra club data you get with it. Having said that, the slow motion replay on the club head at impact with the MLM2 pro is a really cool feature.
Wow! This was an incredible breakdown and straight to the point. Not only does this video have great information on all 3 units he also provides discounts!!! Incredible. Thanks you!
Great video Gabe! I have the SC4 for strictly outdoor range use and love it. The one thing I'd add is that the other two units have more time on the market to work the bugs out. The SC4 has improved dramatically with only a couple firmware updates so I have to believe it'll only get even better with some more time.
💯! I've had the r10 and just picked up the mlm2. I knew the salesman's boss so he gave me the lowdown/warning prior to purchasing. 2/3 have had out of the box failures and rapsodo only has a 90 day warranty!
Just pointing out that R10 also comes with 5 free for life E6 courses + multiple ranges and short game areas. Plus free Garmin range for quick practice. 4:14 Absolutely no need to pay another cent/penny once the unit is bought
I'd prefer the ability to see spin and distance accurately. Being that the other 2 calculate spin all the time, I went with the MLM2Pro. It's camera and radar based. Speaking of cameras, it's the only one that gives you up to 3 camera views of your swing.
Great Video! I knew you and your brothers as a kid in Maryland! My daughter is on the high school golf team as a freshman and I think this could help take her game to the next level.
Great video! I have the R10. Had it since it first launched. Love the e6 courses and driving ranges you get with it. Takes a little tweaking but once you get it dialed in it’s awesome!
I just saved up the money and I want one of these. I don't want a subscription. I don't want to need special balls. I don't care about multiple courses, one course is good enough. The Voice Caddy seems the best choice for me.
Great break down Gabe...I think the MLM2 Pro would work best for me indoors and outdoors, don't really need spin out doors just carry, club head speed, smash factor and direction...Thanks..
Gabe, Thank You. I bought the R10 because of your detailed review. i have not used it for some time now. The question I have, that will make me use it again is this. Have they fixed the waggle part? I hate changing my routine and waiting for the light to turn green to swing???
That’s the only part I care about. What’s the best option for backyard use hitting into a net? Starting to think it’s not an option since no one ever covers that topic.
Gabe, makes sense to me. Maybe not what my heart wants to hear, however, the logic you have displayed is undeniable. You continue to bring content that I enjoy. Thank you. Just curious, as to the dimension of the room you use. How much room height, width, and depth is your set up. Not trying to copy for content creation. Just looking to see how much space would be needed to be comfortable.
A “most accurate” rating would have been nice. Most people will sacrifice things here and there for the launch monitor that provides the highest quality data.
I loved your charting, I do have one question. Am I going to still get calculated club data without the special balls? And club face data includes the what I call the attack angle, correct?
Wow Gabe “ paralysis by analysis paradox “ I like that !! Had the r10 for quite a while …loved it . Moving forwards soon I think, eyeing up the Protee overhead units ,hope they are well received when they come to market . Keep the helpful content coming ⛳️🍻
I just want to clarify the r10 is calculating the club face/path data meaning it’s guessing what it was based on other data that it did actually read? Is that my understanding?
Would you say that someone who is building a back yard cage setup with a possibility of moving indoors, would benefit best from the mlm. I have no problem buying a dozen RPT balls either.
Would the r10 or the SC4 detect foam balls outside like the "almost golf ball". I know distances will be out of wack but want to teach my kids to play and I'm limited where it can be outside.
Fantastic video! I've been hoping someone would do something like this. Would be great to extend this tree to include if you cancel the membership. Also, if you have this written down somewhere, I would be thankful :) I can easily re-create it from the video above but you may already have it as a PDF or image. Thanks again for the great work
Might but the r10 for outdoors ive seen you need the rct balls for enhanced performance inside is that the same for outside or can i just use regular golf balls
Question: I will only be using it indoor but I have a Net Return net and have noticed it just destroys the balls. I assume it will also do that with the callaway balls ? Seeing the direction of the ball is what’s import to me.
When hitting into the net, Is the launch directon alone pointless without path and clubface measures? As in it could launch straight but hook ferociously?
Great video! This is my current struggle. I am actually leaning towards the optishot version of the SC4. Comes with 20 courses and practice area too. No subscription is needed to start out with it.
Hello, thank you for a great video. If I was to purchase the R10, as this is my budget, would it work using poor quality golf balls as the balls at the local driving range are not very good? Or is it then only for home use where I can use the special balls. Thank you.
Just so I fully understand. When indoors using RCT balls, you would get good reliable data. My understanding is that the device has no normalization of the golf balls, so I assume that the data from use outdoors on the driving range with range balls, would give inaccurate data? I’m trying to understand if the device is more for use into a net with good golf balls, or if I can actually use it at the range?
I would say, you don't need the special balls for R10, the aluminum tape square does just as well....... this could factor in for people as well. I just use that and one roll of tape for $7 will last a lifetime.
do you have to use a special ball for the rapsodo if you dont care about spin and youre just looking for carry? I just want to play at home with my buddies

I got R10 first. But sometime it’s not accurate when environment condition wasn’t good. So I bought a MLM2 pro. MLM2 pro is very bad experience to me. Compare to R10, it is not much accurate. And cost higher, the worst interface I ever used before. So I go back to r10. Indoor I use RCT ball. It’s totally fine for r10. And also it’s easy to go for range course. Much more convenient than MLM2. Trust me.
Great stuff Gabe! Leaning towards SC4…I had the R10 and found the data, especially the face data, not very accurate…that said, can you Bluetooth the audio on the SC4 to hear through EarPods? I tested the SC400 a while back and don’t believe you were able to do that…can you confirm?
Deactivating features if no subscription is paid should be illegal. What does the subscription do to the unit sitting on my floor to make it work better? The firmware is already in the unit. The cameras and radar are in the unit.
I’d rather have a simulator that didn’t provide spin outdoors if what was being provided was incorrect, ie garmin r10, as an example. That unit for me was terrible, and I tried 2 different ones with the same issue
Hi. Love the videos. Could you help please I only have 13ft of space . 8ft to the net and 5ft behind. and wanted to know what would be the best one ? Ideally under 1000 and no subscription. Thanks and please help.
Hello. One of my biggest concerns with some of these launch monitors is whether or not they track both the ball and the club. Some of the cheaper ones, from what I understand, only track the club. So it has no idea if you topped it, fatted it, hit it off the heel or the toe, etc. Will all of these give you "reasonably" accurate feedback if you shank or badly slice one when hitting into a net? For me, I tend to very badly slice the ball (like 80+ yards) from time to time, but the strike feels good, so I'd like a monitor that will show those bad shots when hitting into a net. Thanks!!!!
Hey Gabe, great video. Any connection issues with the MLM2Pro during your testing? That seems to be the prevailing issue with that device. Thanks! Also, looks like you can connect to GSPro using your MLM2Pro now. Could be a game changer.. Thanks again!
