Instrumental-wise, this is my favorite KC & the Sunshine Band song...but I love all their hits. They just kept them coming, one after the other. The 70s was a great time to grow up.
I love it when young people like you find these golden oldies and love them as much as we did back in the day! It brings it all back fresh and new! Thank you Sceez for listening to them this time! This was all we had back then, unless you went to concerts, which I didn't I was too busy working and raising two fine young men! So I had albums and the radio, which one or the other was always going and there still is always some form of music playing at my house! I do think people have too many choices and stick to my albums and the radio. Of course now I've found other people reacting to our music on UA-cam, I make one hour available for that every day now, then I go back to taped music during the week and albums on Saturday! I only play them once a week now so that I can leave them to my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
What is that plinky string sound? Is it a synthesized sound? I don't know, but it's funky as hell, and I still love it 48 years 😯 later. Thank you Sceez.
I’m so glad that you said this is a song that you have to do the bump to!! that’s exactly how my mom and I used to dance together when this song came out back in the day! Love the Bump! And Imagine this… back in the day at the roller rink skating to this song, was the best time!
They were a great funk band, which this song was. They transitioned to pop and died out after that. PS, glad you did the long version of this. Most don't.
Thanks, Sceez - in HS my "pom pom squad" had a routine to this... but some parents learned of it (we thought it was jealous cheerleaders, b/c they didn't get to dance to music like we did) -- anyway, the word came down that this song was "obscene" so we couldn't use it... we were freaked, but our very cool 20-something coaches had a perfect solution... we did the same routine to "That's the Way I Like it" - there was no time for them to veto that song, although IMHO that song is even more "suggestive" - lol
Ok Sceez I did the bump to this song and more. You need to listen to Boogie Shoes. I want to put on my my my my my Boogie Shoes. ✌️✌️🤘 I saw that little pop and lock you was doing. This was several years before popping and locking was a thing. Lol
"True Romance" Revisited: Drexl: "He must think it's white boy day. It ain't white boy day, is it?" [background music in bar] ....get dooown, get dooown, get doown, get down to-NIGHT baybay ooo oooo oooooo... Marty : "Y'know, man, I think today actually IS white boy day"
I was more on the rock side back when it was supposed to Disco and of course my sister was more into disco but she was also in the Rock actually, and then the funny thing is they fused together in the 80s and all that was forgotten. But for some reason I always liked KC and the Sunshine Man and for a while I really wanted Boogeyman to be my theme. You got to check that song out, I'm your boogieman. There's a great live video of it while they're all kind of crammed together on this somewhat small stage but you get a really good look at the horn section and the backing vocals and the drummer and just everybody in the van then of course he's up there doing his thing in his white suit.
Da BUMP was perfect for this song. Our boy was killin it too!🥳🎉
We need more this music today!!
Sure do !!
KC's horn section are killing it in all his songs!!!!! Especially "I'm Your Boogie Man"
Sceeez!! Another awesome video!!!!😅
Your reaction put me in a good mood this morning. Thanks!
No problem 😊
