It was actually Barnabas' fault on killing Julia.... If he knew that only Angelique can remove the curse, why did he expect Julia to turn him back into a human?
Going to Angelique would obviously be the last thing he'd try given all the horrible things she's done to him and his family. He knows she'll reject or manipulate him and he's too proud to let it happen. With how amazing modern technology seemed to him, he probably thought she was like a modern witch that could essentially reverse the effects of his vampirism using this amazing medical technology
An underrated gem I watch even today lol I always thought this was one of johny deeps best roles alongside rango and Jack sparrow he just plays any role in a funny and charming way
Designated Hero: Sure, Angelique is an Ax-Crazy Wicked Witch Yandere, but are we seriously going to overlook the fact that Barnabas is the one who toyed with her emotions, murdered way more people than Angelique did, and received no punishment afterwards? Not to mention, him constantly cheating on "Victoria". 1) He didn't toy with her. In the prologue, he outright states to her that his attraction was purely physical and continues to claim as such throughout the movie. He does admit at the end that he did have some feelings for her, but was put off by her Yandere mindset. 2) Also doesn't being buried alive for 196 years count as a punishment?
Are we going to ignore the fact that he is a human eating monster with little regard for human life? His crimes against that single woman are minor at best, but what about all the lives he ended? Yes, he was punished with two hundred years of underground imprisonment, but then he breaks out and the first thing he does is slaughter a dozen of construction workers.
