For everyone wondering why the doctor's wife didn't kill that guy sooner, and instead gave herself and other women to be sexually abused, it has actually to do with a central dilemna and theme of the story. In the book, she is constantly debating with her husband and with herself about telling the others that she can see. The doctor is afraid the blind people are going to become even more dependent on her and she'll stress herself to death trying to help everyone., instead of just the both of them. Same reason that people obey the blind man with the gun at first, even if they are many and he is one. Because some will die in the attempt and nobody wants that for themselves. In the end, they end up uniting themselves and accepting that some will die in the war with ward 3. As for the doctor's wife, she accepts that she can't save everyone and instead gives her all for the group of characters that she "adopts" and finds an equilibrium. Also, fun fact: an Essay on Blindness has a sequel called Essay on Lucidity, where everyone in the same country gives a blank vote during election day, so that no party is elected. The government puts the whole city under siege and, because they need someone to blame, start targeting the doctor's wife and her group, connecting the blindness pandemic and the null vote event to them and painting them as terrorists, because she kept her sight while nobody else did. And, if I remember correctly, because she never went public with her imunity to the blindness.

I get humans so yes it's accurate but nope I'm vision impaired i 've practiced doing things blindfolded and yes full blindness you don't know how dirty things are if you can't feel it so stains but you can still fully clean also you can cook etc and use rest rooms so brail is the hardest part of it to learn. But most blind people still poses a little sight like mine is loosening focus until I can't use corrected lenses but still will be able to navigate using general color and shape as I'm not loosening light or my eyes though I do need sunglasses already as it strains my eyes to much to be in full light. Frankly as no other symptoms I would be one to actually want to get infected as going blind is hell.
The problem with this movie is that it was adapted from a book which was meant more as a philosophical thesis about human nature told through an allegory than an actual story. So it kind of lost its meaning along the way, it was never meant to be a realistic story about people with visual disabilities.
You're right Tyto, but just imagine having to adapt to blindness in an apocalypse with zero assistance. I think I'd be barely able to hold back panic attacks, let alone maintain my hygiene.

Very long time ago, I've read tha book but didn't get to finish. Now I know how it ends. Kudos to the writter, the writting of the book is in the form that makes you feel like you are in this blind world, it's takes time to realise who is speaking like in real life, a blind person is having te trouble to recognise who is speaking
The major loophole is how is the doctor's wife not blind?? Does she have superpowers or what?? And it is kind of disappointing there is no reason for the blindness
It's because they are blind, they didn't know the table was there until they bumped into it. So it's showing us from their perspective what it's like. When you're blind, things don't exist until they become tangible.

@@sirvelociraptor2590 Yeah and that's a problem how?
7:23 where did that table come from the back rooms
Gotta love it how most recaps don’t give the name if the movie🤔
Blindness
Dude Just Imagine a Book of This, they’ve done such a good job
It is from a book
a book story? this your first day typing English homie? idk if you’re ready for a book….
@@tomdyer8518 How is your second language? If English is your first language, then you have problems and have made a fool of yourself.
According to the comment I saw above yours the book is called blindness by Jose saramego according to jorden444

7:22 just watch that kid he bumps into a desk that wasnt theres before it just spawned.
one of the best and most depressing movies ive ever seen
"she accepts to get frisky with him again"
Lol
If you liked the movie, read the book. Was originally writen without punctuation and the charaters have no names. Its a marvellous read with a diferent ending than the movie.
Don't have time to read
Author and please title of book?

Original title: Ensaio Sobre a Cegueira
Author: Saramago
Although it was originally writen in Portuguese, It has been translated in multiple languages.
@@VRDejaVu Abrigado!
So, you can’t read. Cool.
i love that this film is the interpertation of a very famous portuguese book thats called "Ensaio sobre a cegueira" by jose saramago, witch translates to "Blindness essay". Love it
7:24 uhhh why did that table magically appear out of thin air?
I think it is just to show that the kid can't really see. Just like how Daredevil has his radar, that kid has none lol
out of the kids experience there was nothing there until he hit it, making the table appear out of thin air in his mind. pretty clever cinematography.
Probably to represent how that blind boy walked through that area, bumping into table that he didn't knew was there.
@@_witheredRose makes sense, the cut was just really weird
then if its suppose to represent the blind boy's perspective wouldn't it be blank till he bumps into somthin
4:40 Most accurate words for our government as well! 😅
7:21
The f did that table come from😂
Well at least in this world no one can judge others for their looks
I have a feeling it would change to the sound of your voice.
This movie and Children of Men were very impactful in my youth.
i have hard this exact nightmare a couple of times when i suddenly go blind
Why is the movie title never available?! Where can we see the movie title? I refuse to like or subscribe to this channel until I get answers
04:13 very good description of covid handling by many governments 😅
With increased stress and anxiety my eyesight can go away slightly or look like a tube television with a bad antenna. Not at a lot like in this movie being completely blind but can be scary when driving(happened to me once or twice). Glad I watched this video good to put things into perspective!
It's crazy how simply being able to see in a crowd of blind people is nothing less than a super power. With that being said, that woman could have just told the authorities that she can see and has some kind of immunity, that would have helped the world much better tbh.
This movie scared the shit out of me when I was a kid
Would be nice if they tell us the name of the movies that are reviewed
@@dubuque1 Rule of thumb when watching recap videos for the title of the movie, is either check the description box, or caption title at the beginning of the video. For this video it was the latter Blindness (2008).
@@jupiterapollo4985 Thanks I tried that with most the ones I watched, a few could be found just wondering why the person just does not do consistently. I find some of the recap fascinating, and go watch the movie.
@@dubuque1 Yeah, same. I think they don't outwardly same the name of the movie due to copyright issues or something.
5:23 dr. banner?
anyone else notice the table that appears
7:23
I think it's to symbolize something unseen manifesting in his reality.
I did
reminds me of the woman who became blind after getting covid which caused blood clots in her body and her optic nerve as well.
Children of Men: "It's too late. The world has turned to shit."
I never get how she didn’t use her sight as against them earlier. Like seriously if that was me those dudes would have been dead in their sleep the moment they started getting out of line.
Also if she hasn’t gone blind after being exposed to the virus then she is probably immune. I’m sure she would be much more useful trying to help the world in some way rather than just being locked up.
“In the world of the blind, the person with one eye is KING”! Yes, she is a very very stupid wife who continues to play blind & a victim of rape!
I don't understand the point of the movie or the blindness.
0:55 isn't that dr benner i mean then hulk actor?
Honestly the lady might of helped get an anti vaccine out early into the pandemic , seemed like it went on for months, so if she spoke up about beeing surrounded by the blind but not contracting it they could of done a blood test.
0:55 that dude who played hulk from marvel is here?
That's what am saying I was like what
Wdym the dude?? Its Mark Ruffalo
His name is Mark Ruffalo. And he plays in much more than Marvel's Hulk or Avengers.
Bruce banner in a different universe
The major loophole is how is the doctor's wife not blind?? Does she have superpowers or what?? And it is kind of disappointing there is no reason for the blindness
how can the accountant be an accountant if he was blind since birth? or he's just a genius
The people who were already blind, before the whole thing started was lucky.
This movie about the blind is truly devistating, I watched thi movie and was astounded by people and the horrible things they do.

How can Doctor Frickin Banner cant figure out what is wrong with him? He is the fricking Hulk
I like how he compared prison food to school lunches 😂
7:22 are we just gonna ignore the table that spawned out of nowhere
It's because they are blind, they didn't know the table was there until they bumped into it. So it's showing us from their perspective what it's like. When you're blind, things don't exist until they become tangible.
I thought I imagined that and paid it no thought until you pointed it out. Good catch.
0:55 bro got tested by Bruce Banner😂😂
I feel like this is a film that I remember from years ago and if it is I really hope it is because I've been trying to remember what it's called . They end up in a prison or with prisoners in there and I'm happy because that was a good f.
I remember this movie but couldn't remember the name but they wasn't in with prisoners.theywss just put on that place to quarantine them and a majority of the movie was inside that place.
@@JoeXTheXJuggalo1 I still don't think it is but it probably is though. Interesting concept still no explanation as to why she can fucking see though 😂

Am I the only one angry at the doctor? His wife was taking care of everyone so he decided to cheat because she was too stressed for sex.
What about the business man’s wife he asked her not to go and she still insisted to have sex.
@@zakariamore1575 I believe that was the right call. At a time of high distress people will make any kind of excuse to eliminate anyone. Her not doing it as the others will make her a good target as everyone is sacrificing except her.

In a situation like this, a gun is only temporarily useful at best due to the limited number of bullets. Sure, people's fear of death will keep them at bay at first but eventually things will happen that'll exhaust the bullets and the gun's power is gone. Stupid to rely on it in situations like this.
