My best friend and I played this tune in 1971 at a Catholic church auditorium.............ironically,, my friend looked and sang like David Crosby. Great memories.
On May 4, 1970, members of the Ohio National Guard fired into a crowd of University demonstrators, killing four and wounding nine students. The impact of the shootings was dramatic. The event triggered a nationwide student strike that forced hundreds of colleges and universities to close. That is what this song is about so don't forget those four students who died there. Great Performance Hannah.
I was in gymnastics meet at Kent State University,,,,,,,,1971.......and saw the bullet holes thru solid 1/2in. metal at the front of the building...from "wild fire".. That was a disturbing memory as an 18yr. old.

Don't leave out the prelude. There had been arson and violent destruction to the campus buildings, along with serious threats to public safety, in the lead-up to that particular demonstration. These young Guard soldiers -- themselves likely teenagers -- were undoubtedly scared. I still believe it was a failure in their local leadership. I have been an Army officer and platoon leader. I would not have issued live rounds to them. (Only to myself and one or two hand-picked NCOs, just in case of a violent attack against us. There had been sniper fire on that campus against police and authorities. This was an unsettled time in the nation's history that is hard for people today to imagine if you didn't live then. No excuse for shooting those unarmed students like what happened, of course. That was poor training and leadership by the Ohio National Guard.

Oddly enough, THIS was the music that inspired me to obtain a degree in Music Therapy, my primary instruments being classical guitar & lute. Of course, the technique required to play the electric guitar is a world unto itself. ~ Regardless of genre, good music is good music; it all takes talent & dedication to one's art. I appreciate the energy & professionalism it took to make this video. You are magnificent! ~ Preventively, take good care of your ears. Don't blow 'em. No music of yesterday, or today is worth missing the great music of tomorrow. Best Wishes for a productive life & career. :o)
