    I, too, sometimes feel like I’m not hitting my scalp well enough while shampooing. A valuable tip I’ve gotten from Jennifer Rose NYC is to haphazardly part the hair before hopping in the shower, place the shampoo directly on the scalp, and lightly message it in. Unconventional, but works like a charm! I don’t do this on every single wash-just whenever my scalp feels extra gunky for one reason or another. Not only does my scalp feel cleaner, but once the water hits it, my hair gets saturated much faster.

    It actually makes sense why the AG balance is so cleansing to be able to remove the product build up from the styling products.

    • @BrittanyMia

      These products actually aren’t that heavy and don’t need the AG balance every week at least in my opinion. However, in combination with the boost, it makes sense why it’s so cleansing. The boost does a really good job of reconditioning the hair.

    I’ve spoken to two stylists and they recommend I start using leave-ins again. My hair was chronically dry. I was doing everything else right with washing but especially in the colder months I need more moisture. So I’ll be doing treatments bi-weekly and adding a light leave-in under my stylers. Hopefully I retain length by my next trim appointment. Love your content! It’s cool experimenting with your hair, all trial and error

    Because the first ingredient of the recoil is water based its separating from the oil.
    When I use oils with water based stylers, i always get flaking versus using them to seal and break the cast after drying. 🤷🏾‍♀️Don't know if that'll help.
    Your shape is beautiful... very flattering in the wat it frames your face!

    The Ag spray detangler, recoil and mousse gel should work.

      Thanks for sharing this combo. I’ve been considering using the mousse gel and recoil together so it’s great to know they work well together. I’m thinking the oil was best for after the styling process and caused me to lose definition.

      @@BrittanyMia Yes, I second combining the re-coil with the mousse gel. There’s a hairstylist on here called Manes By Mell, and this is a combo she’s used on her sister Amanda multiple times, and is apparently what Amanda uses when she’s not trying new products because it gives consistent results. She does use an oil as well, but she uses it on dry hair to scrunch out the crunch. She has coarse, loosely curled hair with a silky surface texture if that helps.

    I’ve really been enjoying observing your experimenting. I’m definitely less strict on the no oils or butters thing, and I’ve been contemplating using cowashing more, as well as reincorporating creams. Idk I just like them! I have a loose curl pattern but very very coarse and dense hair, so weighing my hair down is rarely a thing.
    Honestly the main thing I learned from the no oil no butter movement was the importance of frequent shampooing and clarifying when needed. And I say this as a cosmetologist too- you can put whatever you want in your hair as long as you have something that can remove it. If you’re using heavy oils you’ve gotta use stronger sulphates, if you’re not, you can probably get away with sulfate free products with surfactants (cleansing agents that aren’t sulfate based).

    Great video! Towards the end I was in love with that WnG! Those defined coils were giving so much! And they fell right into place, perfectly! When u showed us your hair right after you removed the cap and the hair kept its shape after just shaking, I thought "THAT'S what I want!";😁❤️👍🏾

    I've never used these products before but one thing i do know is when i do a wash and go i don't use a cream leave in because it tends to cause flaking with my stylers. I use a liquid leave in and the camille rose honey leave in

  • @chocolatecoils8200
    @chocolatecoils8200 Рік тому +3

    I can tell you the leave in was the culprit to the white spots. Honestlyyyy I think the first glob you used alone for the first section would have been enough to condition your hair. When we use leave ins and oils under our stylers that aren’t really stylers we tend to thus add more styler on top or try to compensate and then on soaking wet hair the conditioner kind of filled the cuticle and seeped to your ends thus the white frost without absorption because your hair was already fully saturated with water. Maybe try the leave in as a curl primer. Apply enough but if you see white when you twist your hair up then there’s too much product per section

    • @chocolatecoils8200
      @chocolatecoils8200 Рік тому +1

      I love your results though as they are fluffy. My hair is more on the 4b side rather than 4a like yours so I’d def try a cream type of styler but maybe mousse to curl set it.

    • @chocolatecoils8200
      @chocolatecoils8200 Рік тому +1

      Lmao WAITTTT I just looked up the ingredients with the at curl fresh….. why in the hell is the 3rd in gradient a starch? That literally could be the culprit to the flaking. This product just might be for lighter hair types, more high porosity hair.

    • @BreatheTV23
      @BreatheTV23 Рік тому

      I notice that I have to be incredibly light with leave in/ oil combo to combat flaking when I layer products this way. It comes out better. But like Brit, I'm sometimes a bit unintentionally heavy handed😅

    I just found your channel. And I must say that I’m blessed to have found you. I tried your wash and go technique. The results I got were great. I’ve been natural for over 14 years and have never had a wash and go look this good or feel so soft. I have very fine and thin hair. I tried the technique with Cantù rinse out or leave in conditioner and Cantù gel.

  • @MsPatricia2683
    @MsPatricia2683 Рік тому +1

    Great video as usual. Here's a suggestion for testing for flaking BEFORE using the products. Take your leave-in; styler and if you want to use oil and put a bit of each in the palm of your hand and mix them together. If ithe mixture clumps, that means it will cause flakes in your hair upon drying as they are not congruent within their chemical/ingredients structure. I usually will use the stylers and/or oils within the same line as my leave in. You can dodge around with shampoos and conditioners but when it comes to the leave-in and stylers (with or without oils), you may want to test before applying.

    Just wanted to leave a comment to say that your channel is the best! I use it to get motivation for my wash day, techniques etc. Your experimentation has been the allowance I needed to “breakout” of the standard “strict” no oils/butters/creams to a more it depends perspective. Patiently waiting for next update. Love from 🇨🇦

    I absolutely love your content beautiful!!!
    I saw that you added conditioner to the cowash. I believe you said "you think cowashes are just light shampoos" or something similar.
    I actually stopped using the AS I AM coconut cowash for the opposite reasons. When I look at the ingredients there is no cleansing ones in the first 5 or 10 for that matter (I actually cannot find any) based on the ingredients, it seems to be just a conditioner.

    I’ve used recoil and had the same issues with flaking and film. I think the key with that product is less is more. My stylist said that she’s had good results with AG Coils and UFD Curly Magic. With a little (very little) Recoil as the topper.

    This is probably my least favorite wash and go on you. I personally abhor flakes but more than that this is one of the least defined wash and go for you. The ends were defined more than any other parts of the length of your hair. The work you had to do for the white to disappear and the fact that your hair felt dry, it’s a no for me. Your hair only felt good when you rinsed away the product. The frizz was a no too. Not on day one. Thanks for sharing your experiences with the community. 😊
