Maybe it's because I'm newer to the channel, but I typically associate David with more serious, analytical reviews. So the image of him screaming in childlike glee at what was happening at the end of the movie is bringing warmth to my heart. It's like the ending of Ratatouille but for a film critic.
You and Dan Murrell are two online film critics whose opinions I hold in very high esteem. Both of you had relatively positive things to say about this movie and after having seen it, I totally see why. It may not be a great sci-fi action flick, but compared to the rest of the franchise I'd say it gets a gold star for most-improved. I'm legitimately optimistic and intrigued about the future of this franchise, finally. My 5-year-old nephew loved the movie.
Bumblebee's Travis Knight apparently turned down the opportunity to direct this movie/take over the franchise cos the studio wanted certain plot elements (maybe Unicron or Beast Wars included), Knight said no, so they shopped it around until Steven Caple Jr said yes.
Yeah the final act kinda saved the movie for me. It was ok up to that point but the final act was so satisfying that it really helped justify its existence.
As a huge fan of Beast Wars back in the day. I was so excited that they tied that in to this movie. This is basically a sequel to both Bumble Bee and Beast Wars which was such a childhood favorite of mine. That honestly makes this Transformers my favortie so far. The G.I. Joe tie in was just icing on the cake.
Ok I’m now in. I may pay full price to see this in theaters now
I actually might check a transformers movie for the first time since the first one. Thanks...? lol.
"Hot robot on robot action". Yes, please. Wait, what are we talking about? 👀
I grew up in the 80s and Transformers were my #1 favorite toy line. GI Joe was probably #2 or#3 (up there with Masters of the Universe). I liked Bumblebee but hated the Bay movies. The GI Joe movies have been terrible. So they have a long road ahead to get me excited and interested in this crossover.
G.I. Joe and Transformers have teamed up multiple times in the comics over the last 40 yrs. IDW had a multi year run in the 2010’s. It was decent.
All reviews of this movie are required to be delivered in a slightly pitched-up tone, like when you realize you’ve just accidentally insulted a friend and are desperately trying to backpeddle.
I thought the movie was ok but there must have been a lot of transformers fans in the audience because multiple people clapped and cheered at the ending
I liked Bumblebee, but I just can't seem to get excited for this new one. I think I'm just done with this franchise.
This movie was pure garbage
