What an unforgettable movie. Your description "humble and human " is spot on.

Definitely my favorite movie this year. It's the most 'adult' movie I've ever seen. Because of that, it's also the most real movie I've ever seen.
Hurts to watch and think about in all the good ways.

Thank you for this review! I know there is much more that could be said about the themes, like fate, decisions, immigration etc., but I think you put together perfectly what makes this film great.
And I feel the same about Hae Sung. There's just something sad about him. But who knows what might happen later in their lives. Maybe the time in New York with Nora gives him closure, so that he can now live his life in peace and commit to it fully. Or maybe some years later it turns out that Nora is not that happy with her 'pragmatic' choices, and she and Hae Sung will have a chance together later in life. But even if nothing like that happens, and neither of them will ever feel completely whole, then there's still the next lives where it might be different. It's all very open storywise, but the two of them just seem so deeply bonded on the soul level.
And the soul of Nora's husband is becoming a part of it. In some way it's like the consciousness of oneness is growing, and expanding love.
This movie is so beautiful, I really want to watch it again.

The first time I saw the trailer of this movie, I immediately wanted to watch it only to find out that the release date in my country was still two months away! With the limited screening in Germany, I had to look for a cinema that would show it in the original version. Luckily it was played in OV. I loved the film. It was realistic and relatable. True that as much or more things were said in their silence as when they were speaking. The ending was understandable and probably the most realistic outcome, although I was secretly hoping it would have ended differently. It’s an endearing but melancholic movie.

Yes Melancholic is the right word. When she cried on her husband's chest when Haesung was gone i felt the excruciating pain, puting myself in her position.

I felt badly for hae sung too. I really wanted them to get together. And I felt like she, once hae sung left, that she would never be able to be honest about her feelings

the most overrated movie of 2023. utterly contrived. 90mins for a sentimental, fortune cookie message

It's the opposite of a fortune cookie message. This movie literally tells you don't take the leap of faith, don't fall for the superficial small windows these 2 "soul mates " have into eachothers lives. They idealized eachother, because that's easy because of their undeniable chemistry. It preaches a pretty opposite view to the typical fairlytale.

I saw yesterday, here in Brazil. I can't stop think about it. It's an honest and delicate way to talk abou relations. It's a quite real love story! 🥹
